Role of Rab GTPases in HSV-1 infection: Molecular understanding of viral maturation and egress

    No full text
Most enveloped viruses exploit complex cellular pathways for assembly and egress from the host cell, and the large DNA virus Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) makes no exception, hijacking several cellular transport pathways for its glycoprotein trafficking and maturation, as well as for viral morphogenesis and egress according to the envelopment, de-envelopment and re-envelopment model. Importantly Rab GTPases, widely distributed master regulators of intracellular membrane trafficking pathways, have recently being tightly implicated in such process. Indeed, siRNA-mediated genetic ablation of specific Rab proteins differently affected HSV-1 production, suggesting a complex role of different Rab proteins in HSV-1 life cycle. In this review, we discuss how different Rabs can regulate HSV-1 assembly/egress and the potential therapeutic applications of such findings for the management of HSV-1 infections

قواعد فقہیہ کے ارتقائی سفر کا تدریجی مطالعہ: THE STUDY OF EVOLUTIONARY DEVELOPMENTS IN ISLAMIC LEGAL MAXIMS

    No full text
The juristic maxims have gained current development after taking different evolutionary steps with the passage of time. Earlier, Jurists used the Quran, Hadith, and sayings of pious companions to resolve the issues. This was the informal beginning of juristic Maxims as it is found in the books of Imam Shafi, Imam Abu Yousaf and Imam Muhammad. Later, different jurists used to resolve the social issues. Also, it was observed in the incident of Abu Tahir Dabbas and Abu Saeed Harvi. After this, separate books were compiled on these Maxims. The objective of this study is to highlight the approaches of initial juristic schools of thought. This is qualitative research, and data includes the Quran, Hadith and books of juristic scholars. Hanafi jurists hold a higher status as compared to others. So, for the first time, the practical struggle of Imam Abu Al-Hasan Al-Karkhi appeared. Then, Imam Nasfi explained these Maxims with examples, and Tasees al-Nazar Munsah was compiled. Like this, the work on juristic maxims was started. The work of every jurist was quite different from any other. In some places, these Maxims were explained under Shari’ah objectives but in some ways, these were arranged according to juristic themes. Some scholars arranged these Maxims alphabetically. Some scholars compiled on the base of some special topics. Nowadays, these maxims hold valuable attention from Islamic scholars. So, in different universities, a lot of work has been done on different juristic topics.  The basics of these maxims have been highlighted. In Urdu language, a lot of work has been done. Some books have been translated into other languages, especially Mujallah AL-Ahkaam Al-Adliah was translated. Some scholars compiled these Maxims for permanent purposes. They translated them into Urdu and worked on their commentaries

Spatial aspects of the regional development in Baluchistan Province of Pakistan

    No full text
In the third world countries the regional development plans tend to be made up of sectoral components for example industry, education and agriculture. Though the government machinery does pay some attention to inter-sectoral coordination yet it is rare that anything more than superficial attention is paid to urban-rural systems, and the geographical location of the projects. Same is the case with the Baluchistan Province of Pakistan. Due to political developments in Afghanistan and the Middle East. Pakistan in general and Baluchistan in particular have assumed a special significance in the World politics. "Urban Functions in Rural Development" (UFRD) was developed under U.S. Agency for International Development (AID) and applied in the study of Potosi Region in Bolivia. In this thesis we have tried to describe, in brief the concept and methodology of the spatial aspects of the regional development, and apply the UFRD concept in analyzing the Baluchistan Region. The accessibility step of this planning process is very important. It tells us the disparity among the areas in the Region and also the overall regional accessibility• So the accessibility aspect of Baluchistan has been dealt in great details and a number of trials have been done using "Applesoft Basic Package".M.S

Further development and application of computer-assisted creativity to rural road resources management projects

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the part of computer science concerned with designing computer systems, that is, systems that exhibit the characteristics we associate with intelligence in human behavior--understanding language, learning, reasoning, solving problems, and so on. Many believe that insights into the nature of the mind can be gained by studying the operation of such programs. The AI concept has formed the basis for developing the computer-assisted creativity techniques called The Computer Consultant (TCC), and The Idea Machine (TIM). TIM has, so far, been applied to topics in the engineering and "hard sciences" fields. In this study these techniques are presented/reviewed in detail and the research concentrated on the expansion/development of a methodology for computer—assisted creativity. This research will help in further evolution of TIM into a richer process for idea generation and general problem solving, and in enhancing the application capabilities. This is done by: (1) expanding the conceptual and ideas data bases from which analogies can be drawn; (2) conducting comprehensive trials with TIM to establish its strengths and limitations; and (3) doing research on techniques for the screening and packaging of ideas techniques. Rural road projects are an important part of rural development programs in the Third World countries. For some years the construction of such road projects, funded in part by international donor agencies, has been a subject of some controversy. Most policy makers in the developing or underdeveloped countries support the practice of expanding the rural dirt (unpaved) roads rather than spending limited resources on maintenance. Some donor agencies are now inclined to only support maintenance-biased road projects. A similar situation arose in Pakistan where the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) proposed to fund a road resources development project in the Sind Province. This real life situation is selected as a basis for developing a road resources management model, and generating ideas using TIM. These ideas are screened and packaged to be used in revising the model for further trials. The application of TIM to this problem from the civil engineering field results in some useful outputs. This study provides a good basis for further enhancing TIM capabilities.Ph. D

The question as to whether conflicts are detrimental andinfluence other organizational variables to a significant extentdepends on how they are handled. This study aims to explore howconflicts are managed in Pakistan’s corporate setup and what impactvarious conflict management styles have on dimensions of trust.Moderating effect of transformational leadership examined whethertransformational leaders play their role in building trust. Data wascollected from ten companies based in Islamabad. Results showedthat integrating, obliging and compromising styles have a significantimpact on affective and cognitive trust. Whereas, dominating andavoiding were found to be having insignificant relationships withboth trust dimensions. Integrating and compromising were the mostpreferred styles adopted by average number of respondents to managetheir interpersonal conflicts at work.Furthermore, transformationalleadership significantly moderates the relationship between conflictmanagement and trust. Recommendations have been included to helpPakistani organizations in identifying present conflict managementproblem
