Democratic Welfare State as Visualised by the Quaid-i-Azam
The Quaid-i-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, is known more for his political achievements than for his socio-economic thought. Last two decades, however, have seen a continuous flow of books containing his speeches, statements, messages, interviews, discussions in pre-independence legislative bodies and addresses in the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan. Even a cursory look at this vast literature shows that he was not only concerned with the political aspect of sub-continent’s independence movement but also consistently expressed his views regarding the socio-economic uplift of masses in general and Muslim society in particular. These views in their bare essentials reflect a remarkable continuity of approach from the earlier days of his political career to the period he occupied the position of Governor General of Pakistan. Actually, he became more and more expressive and forthright as the prospects of Pakistan coming into existence became bright. When Pakistan finally appeared as a sovereign nation on the map of the world, he openly rejected the prevailing economic system as having failed to do justice between man and man and to eradicate friction from the international field.
PENGANTAR KE FILSAFAT HIKMAH (`IRFÂN) ALLAMAH SAYYID MUHAMMAD HUSAIN THABTHABÂI
Allamah Muhammad Husain al-Thabthabani succeeded in initiating the revival of philosophical thought in Iran and Qum after almost dimming after the death of Mulla Sadra. Although there are not many things that are truly new from his thoughts on Mulla Sadra Philosophy, it can be said that in his hands a number of Mulla Shadra's ideas which are considered complicated can be described quite well so that they are easy to understand. His thoughts on philosophy were at least contained in two of his very famous works, namely Bidâyatu al-Hikmah and Nihâyatu al-Hikmah which at the same time strengthened his position as the leading Philosophy after Mulla Sadra. That is why it is deemed necessary to discuss the thoughts of Allamah Muhammad Husayn al-Thabthabi's Philosophy. Keywords: `irfân, Allamah Sayyid Muhammad Husain Thabthabâi

Ali Husain Mir Interview
Ali Husain Mir is a Bollywood lyricist and script writer and a professor of Management at William Paterson University. Mir visited the Hindi Urdu Flagship at the University of Texas at Austin to speak to Flagship students about his career in Urdu literature and Bollywood production. For this interview, Mir sat down with HUF directors, Syed Akbar Hyder and Herman van Olphen, to discuss his background in Urdu and the state of the language in modern India. Mir is the author of Anthems of Resistance, the definitive book on the All India Progressive Writers’ Movement; he is also an acclaimed lyricist and script-writer for Hindi and Urdu films (Iqbal, Dor). Mir’s oeuvre engages issues of religious minorities and secularism in South Asia.Asian Studie
A critical analysis of Christian responses to Islamic claims about the work of the Prophet Muhammad, ‘the Messenger of God’.
The aims of this study are to analyse critically the different Christian responses to the Islamic understanding of the work of Muhammad. Chapter one consists a short introduction leading to an appraisal of Muhammad which incorporates historical, hagiographal and Quranic source material, and in the light of relevant Christian and Muslim scholarship. The second chapter presents a summary critical analysis of Muhammad in Christian theological perspective, from 661 A.D. to modern times. Chapter three presents a critique of Christian responses to the Muslim allegations that the text of the Bible has been infected with corruption; and that Muhammad's advent and status are foretold in the unadulterated' scriptures, and in the Gospel of Barnabas. Chapter four examines the theological significance of the work of Muhammad for Christians. Thus, Jesus and Muhammad are critically assessed and contrasted in order to ascertain the importance, for Christians, of the Muslim claims in respect of Muhammad as ’the messenger of God’. Chapter five provides a critical evaluation of the various Christian responses to Muhammad. It is argued that many of the said responses have been entangled in myths and misperceptions which have severely distorted the true account of Muhammad's work. Consequently, many Christians have failed to appreciate the divine legitimacy of Muhammad's call to prophethood. Further, it is argued that Christians should accept that Muhammad is a genuine prophet, and the messenger of God. However, Muhammad's use of the power-structure in order to maintain Islam is in sharp contrast to Jesus’ decision to face the consequences of his ministry passively through faith in God. Accordingly, orthodox Christian belief in the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus provides another dimension to prophethood, where the messenger and the message become one, an identification which finds no parallel in Islam, and which, in the nature of the case, cannot find a parallel
Manhaj Tafsir Al-Mizan Fi Tafsir al-Quran karya Muhammad Husain Thabathaba’i
The affirmative era is a continuation of the formative era. This era occurred in the Middle Ages, when the tradition of interpreting the Qur\u27an already had many specific and varied features. This era is also judged to be based on ideological reasoning. Tafsir al-Mizan is included in the category of interpretation in the affirmative era because some of its interpretations are based on the ideological rationale of the exegete, namely Muhammad Husain Tabataba\u27i. This study aims to describe the manhaj used in Tafsir Al-Mizan Fi Tafsir al-Quran by Muhammad Husain Tabataba\u27i in studying a verse of the Koran. The methods used in this research are the library research method and descriptive analysis. The results from this research are: Tafsir al-Mizan is a phenomenal work by Muhammad Husain Tabataba\u27i. His work is inseparable from the author\u27s thoughts, who has a philosophical background in thinking. Even so, the interpretation uses the uslub of the Qur\u27an, bil Qur\u27an, and also contains many other commentators\u27 opinions. So the interpretation is called a "very complete interpretation" because it contains many fields of knowledge. The special manhaj or method of writing the interpretation of al-Mizan, namely interpreting the book in sequential order, explains the purpose of the interpreted surah or verse, cites the opinions of the reviewers of the Qur\u27an and also presents his view, has its section on the discussion of history, specializes in the discussion of philosophical aspects, and provides general conclusions from the verse or letter being studied
Electrodeposited Ni/Ge and germanide schottky barriers for nanoelectronics applications
In recent years metal/semiconductor Schottky barriers have found numerous applications in nanoelectronics. The work presented in this thesis focuses on the improvement of a few of the relevant devices using electrodeposition of metal on Ge for Schottky barrier fabrication. This low energy metallisation technique offers numerous advantages over the physical vapour deposition techniques. Electrical characteristics of the grown diodes show a high quality rectifying behaviour with extremely low leakage currents even on highly doped Ge. A non-Arrhenius behaviour of the temperature dependence is observed for the grown Ni/Ge diodes on lowly doped Ge that is explained by a spatial variation of the barrier heights. The inhomogeneity of the barrier hights is explained in line with an intrinsic surface states model for Ge. The understanding of the intrinsic surface states will help to create ohmic contacts for doped n-MOSFETs. NiGe were formed single phase by annealing. Results reveal that by using these high-quality germanide Schottky barriers as the source/drain, the subthreshold leakage currents of a Schottky barrier MOSFET could be minimised, in particular, due to the very low drain/body junction leakage current exhibited by the electrodeposited diodes. The Ni/Ge diodes on highly doped Ge show negative differential conductance at low temperature. This effect is attributed to the intervalley electron transfer in Ge conduction band to a low mobility valley. The results show experimentally that Schottky junctions could be used for hot electron injection in transferred-electron devices. A vertical Co/Ni/Si structure has been fabricated for spin injection and detection in Si. It is shown that the system functions electrically well although no magnetoresistance indicative of spin injection was observed
