Synthesis and characterization of efficient Sr-doped ZnO nanostructures for optoelectronic, and photocatalytic applications
Available online 15 February 2024With increasing technological advancements, optoelectronics emergence is inevitable. Various metal oxides are explored for optoelectronics properties and Zinc oxide-based nanostructures have various advantages that can be explored in optoelectronic devices. Nanomaterials that are undoped and Strontium doped were synthesized via a simple wet chemistry route. The study set out to quantify the impact of Strontium doping in Zinc Oxide on optical and photocatalytic properties. The doping of strontium concentration within ZnO varied from 0 % to 3 % by weight of the total molar ratio. The characterization of SZO nanomaterials was done using measurements of Xray diffraction, Raman Spectroscopy, SEM, Hall effect measurements, UV/Vis, and PL regarding their structural properties, morphological properties, optical properties, and electrical characteristics. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the Sr-doped ZnO had the hexagonal wurtzite structure of zinc oxide. SEM showed that the morphology of Sr-doped ZnO thin films changed by increasing Sr concentration. Meanwhile, the film’s surface was smooth and crack-free. In UV–Vis experiments, the concentration of Sr doping reduced the optical band gap ranges from 3.27 eV to 2.98 eV. All the samples exhibited n-type conductivity in the Hall Effect. Herbicidal activity of culture filtrates of four Drechslera spp.,
namely D. australiensis (Bugnic.) Subram. & B.L. Jain, D.
biseptata (Sacc. & Roum.) M.J. Richardson & E.M. Fraser, D.
hawaiiensis Bugnic. ex M.B. Ellis, and D. holmii (Luttr.) Subram.
& P.C. Jain, prepared in malt extract broth was investigated
against parthenium weed ( Parthenium hysterophorus L.) in both
laboratory bioassays and pots. In laboratory bioassays, the effect of
original (100%) and diluted (50%) culture filtrates of the four
Drechslera spp. was studied on parthenium germination and seedling
growth in 90 mm diameter Petri plates. Original culture filtrate of all
the four Drechslera species significantly reduced germination, shoot
length, shoot fresh biomass, root length, and root fresh biomass of
parthenium seedlings by 43 to 77%, 77 to 82%, 69 to 82%, 90 to 92%, and
67 to 83%, respectively, as compared to the control. In pot trials,
foliar application of original fungal culture filtrates was carried out
on 1-wk and 2-wk old parthenium seedlings. Culture filtrates of all the
four Drechslera spp., except D. holmii, markedly reduced parthenium
shoot dry weight. Two-week-old plants were more susceptible to foliar
spray than the 1-wk old plants. There was a 13 to 55% and 28 to 65%
reduction in shoot dry weight of 1-wk and 2-wk old parthenium plants,
respectively, due to culture filtrates of various Drechslera spp. The
present study concludes that Drechslera spp. culture filtrates can be
used as alternative herbicides for parthenium weed management

The Importance of Renewable Energy Consumption and Human Capital in Attracting Foreign Direct Investment in Pakistan
This research looks at the connections between FDI, renewable and nonrenewable energy, human capital, and the environment in Pakistan. Using data collected from 1998 to 2020, this study uses the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) method to quantify the interdependencies between various conceptual frameworks. All variables tested had a significant impact on FDI in the long run. The environment coefficient is significantly negative. In addition, there is a positive indication of significance for the coefficients of renewable energy, non-renewable energy, and human capital acquired through formal education. Based on the findings of this research, it is recommended that national governments take steps to attract more FDI
Asset Pricing Model Conditional on Up and Down Market for Emerging Market: The Case of Pakistan
This study proposes an asset pricing model conditional on up and down market for emerging market and tests its validity in Pakistan on individual stocks of Karachi Stock Exchange from July 2004 to December 2012. The basic capital asset pricing model is also tested. The results indicate that when emerging market undergoes negative market excess return, basic capital asset pricing model is inaccurate to predict stock returns. Although the conditional asset pricing model accurately predicts the risk-return trade off with beta as sole determinant of stock returns when there is up market, however yet it is significantly variant during down market where significant impact of residuals is evinced on stock returns. The market excess returns of up and down markets are also found asymmetric. The study implies that conditional asset pricing model can be an adequate technique for investors and portfolio managers considering investments in emerging markets. EVALUATION OF KNOWLEDGE, BEHAVIOR & ATTITUDE OF GENERAL PUBLIC TOWARDS PREVENTION MEASURES OF COVID-19 PATIENTS.
Aim: The aim of this study is to assess the knowledge as well as attitude towards the COVID-19 patients on pandemic between healthcare professional as well as pubic or non-medical staff.
Technique: A cross sectional study was conducted between three months January 2020 to March 2020 at different Hospitals. The data was collected by the implementing some sampling strategy and also by the questionnaire regarding knowledge, attitude as well as preventive practices in the healthcare professional, non medical workers and public. There are different statistical methods are used to determine the results such as t-test as well as ANOVA.
Results: There are almost 300 people participate in this study including healthcare workers, non-healthcare workers and pubic. The results show that most of the people have a good and efficient knowledge regarding COVID-19 and their attitude is quiet positive. There are almost two third of the participants well known of the mode of transmission, treatment as well as isolation period for the person if had doubt about this virus and also apply or use different preventive measures such as wear mask when go out and to wash the hands when come home and also stay at home. Thus it is determined that there is a negative correlation between the knowledge as well as attitude scores.
Conclusion: It is concluded that most of the heath workers, non-health workers and public is well known about the knowledge, attitude and done preventive practice about the COVID-19. In some participants the level of knowledge is not proper thus there is a need to provide more information by starting some campaign.

Reading Difficulties of Primary School English Langauge Learners: A Case Study of District Dera Ghazi Khan
The paper aims at investigating reading difficulties that the primary school learners face in English language. Keeping in view the aim of the study, it was further divided into two research objectives: To find out the factors that were causing difficulties in reading English text and To find out the effects that such factors have on the students’ performance in reading a text in English. The data was collected using two separate tools for each of the research objectives. Data for the first objective was collected using a semi-structured interview with the English teachers of the mentioned locale of the study. For the second objective non-participatory observation was selected as a method to collect data which included a check-list as a tool to mark the effects in the performance of the students with respect to their reading texts in English Language. As far as the analysis of the data is concerned, it was thematically analyzed and the effects were mentioned following the discussion related to the findings of the first research objective. Finally, it was concluded that the students were unable to read the text because of some flaws in the teaching methodology, their lack interest in reading, which was a result of lack of motivation from the parents’ as well as teachers’ side. RESTRICTED ZONE OF SUPERPAVE MIX DESIGN AND ITS IMPACT ON RESILIENT MODULUS AND PERMANENT DEFORMATION
Back in 1993, Strategic Highway Research Program introduced new mix design method known as SUPERPAVE that is an acronym of Superior Performing Asphalt Pavement. Superpave caters filed performance of bituminous mixes and Superpave gradation chart includes 0.45 power line, restricted zone and control points. In Superpave, the gradation that compliance with the restricted zone was considered less rut resistant as compared to gradation passing outside the restricted zone. This study targets three types of gradations that passed above, below and through the restricted zone. The results show that the gradation passing through the restricted zone not only satisfy Superpave volumetric requirements but also performs better against rutting as compared to gradation passing outside the restricted zone. Resilient modulus (MR) measured through indirect tensile strength setup that defines the elastic properties of bituminous mix under repeated load test. Laboratory study was conducted to find factors that affect the gradation. Two-way factorial design was carried out by using Minitab-15 statistical software and the results reflected that the individual factor i.e. loads duration and temperature as well as interaction of factors has significant effect on the performance of HMA
