VAGINAL PLATELET-RICH PLASMA ADMINISTRATION TO IMPROVE FEMALE SEXUAL SATISFACTION
No full textObjective:To investigate the effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection to the lower one-third of the anterior vaginal wall on sexual function, orgasm, in women with sexual dysfunction by scoring with FSFI.
Materials and Methods:Three sessions of PRP (platelet rich human autologous plasma) were administered to the anterior vaginal wall of fiftyfemale patients with sexual dysfunctiondiagnosed by FSFI scoring card obtained in JAM clinic in Benha city Egypt and orgasmic disorder. Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) total score ≤26 orgasmic subdomain score ≤3.75 were considered having sexual dysfunction and recruited in the study.
Results:Following the application of the PRP, the total FSFI score was observed as 27.7±4.5 and the total score was 26 and above in patients having sexual dysfunction (p<0.001).
Orgasm subdomain scores were found as 2.2±1.2 before the PRP treatment and 4.4±1.06 at the third dose after (p<0.001).
Conclusion:PRP administration to the distal anterior vaginal wall improved female sexuality with high satisfaction by using multiple sessions (three month)
Primary parasitic myoma in a young virgin
No full textThe presented case is a primary parasitic myoma in a young virgin who worked as a resident in ICU of Benha university hospital. She came to my clinic with lower abdominal pain and swelling. MRI was done which revealed subserous anterior wall myoma 12 cm by 12 cm. The patient was operated upon and a large irregular myoma connected with the anterior uterine wall with a small pedicle. The interesting part in this case was the large nutritive vascular omental pedicle on the surface of the tumor.
The vessels in the omental pedicle were larger than the internal iliac vessels
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Routine ultrasound guided evacuation of first trimester missed abortion versus blind evacuation
Get PDFBackground: The clinical management of miscarriage has changed little over the years and many women undergo surgical uterine evacuation. Surgical evacuation of the uterine contents in missed abortion is a challenge to the obstetrician as it is done blindly. The current study recommends the use of ultrasound guided surgical evacuation. It serves two important advantages; the first is to complete evacuation without the need of additional step. The second is to protect against uterine perforation.
Outcome measures: The primary outcome measures were intraoperative and short-term complications (anesthetic complication, hemorrhage, ongoing pregnancy, cervical trauma, uterine perforation, need for laparoscopy and/or laparotomy, repeat evacuation, and infection). The secondary outcomes were the blood loss, procedure time, and convalescence time.
Design: A controlled trial.
Setting: Elbadr Hospital, Benha, Egypt.
Participants: Women undergoing STOP (surgical termination of pregnancy) in the first trimester.
Methods: Two hundred cases who refused medical evacuation of proved missed abortion were divided in two groups. Group one (one hundred patients) in whom surgical evacuation was done under sonographic guidance. Group two (one hundred patients) in whom surgical evacuation was done without sonographic guidance.
Results: Group one cases showed no surgical failure in contrast to 10 cases from group two who failed with contents presented after evacuation (failure rate 10%).
Conclusions: Surgical evacuation under sonographic guidance is recommended because there are significant cases with missed abortion which can be incompletely evacuated without the use of the ultrasound guidance
Oral itraconazole combined with local isoconazole in the treatment chronic candida vulvovaginitis
Get PDFBackground: Chronic vulvovaginal candidiasis is a major problem and common with poor quality of life from itching and discharge and it is difficult to treat because fungi are slow growers.Methods: Two hundred cases recruited from JAM clinic in Benha city, Egypt divided into two groups to study combination of oral itraconazole and local isoconazole in comparison with the use of local isoconazole only in chronic monilial vulvovaginitis and main outcome was relief of symptoms and signs with absent laboratory evidence of monilial infection by culture. Group one included 100 cases treated with combined oral itraconazole with three alternate days dose of local isoconazole (gynotrazonagen) and group two (local isoconazole only) included 100 cases treated with local isoconazole ovules on alternate days for 3 doses and week period.Results: Regarding the cure rate there were 90 clinically cured rate in the combined group compared to 70 in the local treatment group with p value of 0.0004 which was a very high statistically significant difference. Clinical cure included alleviation of the symptoms of discharge dysuria dyspareunia burning itching with also by clinical examination cure and disappearance of redness erythema edema fissures with absent pseudomycelia by microscopic examination. Usually, a symptom score of less than 2 is a positive one. Regarding the laboratory cure which means absent or negative candida culture on Sabaraud agar medium there were a laboratory cure rate of 84 out of 100 in the combined treatment group compared to 65 out of 100 in the local treatment group with p value of 0.002 and a high statistically significant difference.Conclusions: Oral itraconazole combined with local isoconazole is highly effective in treating chronic monilial vulvovaginitis

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
