Photoelectro-chemical properties of anilino squaraine derivatives in LB films
Photocurrent generation from Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) overlays on indium tin oxide (ITO) electrodes, where the active components are 2,4-bis[4-(dibutylamino)-2-hydroxyphenyl]squaraine (1) and the unsubstituted analogue, 2,4-bis[4-(dibutylamino)phenyl]squaraine (2), have been investigated. Dye 1 shows improved behaviour compared with the latter and differences in performance are attributed to a modified aggregate structure, this being indicated by variations in the LB film spectra. The photocurrent generation is enhanced by the presence of electron accepters, e.g. N,N'-dimethyl-4,4'-bipyridinium diiodide (MV2+), but quenched by electron donors, e.g. hydroquinone (HQ). The concentration dependence is reported
DATA SHARING AGREEMENTS: CONTRACTING PERSONAL INFORMATION IN THE DIGITAL AGE
Voluminous information about individuals is being shared every day and everywhere. Streamlining data sharing activities effectively allows public and private entities to use information for policy advancement, knowledge creation and business growth. At the same time, such sharing of personal information also risks harming individuals' privacy and autonomy. How are data sharing activities governed in Australia? What are the main problems with the existing legal framework? This article explores three ways in which the interests of individuals whose data is being shared may be better protected. These are (a) improvements in data privacy and data sharing legislation, (b) adapting private law frameworks to create more protective structures (as in the notion of 'data trusts' and 'information fiduciaries') and (c) enhancing data governance through better contracts, including model data sharing agreement templates. We conclude that while law reform may be desirable, particularly along the lines of the first possibility, organisations that truly 'care about privacy' can act now to improve their data sharing practices through better data sharing agreements and the data culture that they cultivate. The Australian Office of the National Data Commissioner can lead the way with a restructured and reimagined data sharing model agreement

Abstract LB-450: Gene expression of colonic submucosa differs between the inflammatory colitides. A possible reason for differences in IBD-associated CRC incidences
Abstract
Purpose: Differentiating ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's colitis (CC) may be inaccurate in up to 30% of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) cases due to overlapping features of these colitides. IBD-associated colorectal cancer (CRC) is frequently diagnosed in an advanced stage. Mass-spectrometric (MS) proteomic patterns found in colonic submucosa have been shown to discriminate UC and CC. To verify this, we aimed to conduct pilot gene expression analyses via microarray assessment of colonic submucosa. The significances of these genes to CRC initiation is as yet not been elucidated.
Methods: Laser capture microdissection of colonic submucosa from UC (n=8), CC (n=8), and normal (NL, n=8) samples was performed. The submucosal mRNA was extracted using the PicoPure(TM) RNA Isolation Kit. Comprehensive gene expression analysis of the pooled mRNA from each group was then performed using the Affymetrix GeneChip® Gene 1.0 ST Array System. To detect changes for UC, we compared UC to CC and UC to NL; and for CC, we compared CC to UC and CC to NL.
Results: 28,869 genes were represented on the array by 26 probes spread across the full length of each gene. When comparing UC to CC, 138 genes showed at least a 5-fold significant overexpression (p<0.01) with 5 of these genes showing a greater than 30-fold overexpression (Table, all p<0.0001). When comparing CC to UC, 5 different genes were overexpressed at greater than 30-fold change (Table, all p<0.0001). The results of the comparisons of these highly overexpressed genes in UC and CC vs. NL is noted in Table.
Conclusions: Microarray assessments show significantly different gene overexpression in UC and CC colonic submucosa, with a few select genes showing dramatic overexpression. Preliminary results indicate that we have the tools in hand to successfully validate the results from the microarray analysis using TR-qPCR and immunohistochemistry (IHC). These genes may assist in delineation of the previously identified differentiating MS submucosal proteomic peaks, potentially facilitating protein biomarker identification to discriminate the inflammatory colitides. These genes may relate to CRC initiation.

TOLERANCJA A TOŻSAMOŚĆ W ŚWIETLE LB 12,1–15
This study presents exegetical analyses of Num 12:1–15, which records the account of the rebellion of Miriam and Aaron against Moses. Their aim is to explain why the accusation formulated by Miriam and Aaron concerning Moses’ marriage to the Cushite woman is accompanied by a challenge to his unique relationshipwith God, and, in the context of this inquiry, to shed light on the issue of tolerance discernible in the text – its aspect and criterion. A literary and historical-critical analysis of the passage, taking into account its intertextual connections, suggests the identification of two interconnected narratives within the pericope. The first and earlier one – concerning the undermining of Moses’ incomparable authority – may be associated with the redaction of the Pentateuch (RedPent), while the second – accusing him of marrying a foreign woman – may be linked to a later universalizing revision (RewU). Both stages in the development of the text would have taken place in the late Persian period (5th–4th century BC), and an important motivating factor behind them would have been the concern for the identity of Israel as the people of God, as the “true Israel”. The thesis of two successive elaborations of the pericope in Numbers 12 helps to grasp the dynamics of the process of forming biblical texts. This dynamic is reflected in the literary use of the figure of Moses as a common point of reference and argumentation for attitudes of intolerance and tolerance, the ultimate criterion of which is God’s law and God’s action for the good of man.Niniejsze studium prezentuje badania egzegetyczne tekstu Lb 12,1–15, stanowiącego zapis opowiadania o buncie Miriam i Aarona przeciw Mojżeszowi. Pierwsze i wcześniejsze – o podważaniu nieporównywalnego autorytetu Mojżesza – można łączyć z redakcją Pięcioksięgu (RedPent), a drugie – o zarzucaniu mu małżeństwa z cudzoziemką – z późniejszą rewizją uniwersalizującą (RewU).
Moses and the silver trumpets of the Israelites
W przeciwieństwie do zmitologizowanych relacji pochodzących z różnych obszarów Śródziemnomorza na temat wynalazców/ pierwszych konstruktorów instrumentów muzycznych, fragment ten zawiera oryginalne ujęcie genezy aerofonu (Lb 10, 1-2). In this article a fragment from the Book of Numbers - Numbers 10:1-10, in which Moses is ordered to make two silver trumpets [חֲצֹצְרָה], has been shown in the research perspective, taking into account, above all, the biblical and historical contexts, as well as archaeo-musicological one. Contrary to the mythologized stories about inventors/ first builders of musical instruments from various areas of the Mediterranean Sea, this fragment contains an original account of the origin of the aerophone (Numbers 10:1-2). Due to their limited melodic capabilities, the ḥǎṣōṣěrâ trumpets, like their Egyptian šnb prototypes, were not musical instruments in the strict sense. They were usually used by priests descended from Aaron and the Levites. Numbers 10:2-10 includes historically reliable technological data (Numbers 10:2) and a developed usage profile of the aerophone (Lb 10:2-10), which is largely reflected in the referenced comparative material from the Old Testament (warfare, sacral celebrations in Jerusalem)
The serpent made by Moses and the serpent from Eden. From historical tradition to theological concept
The subject of the analysis in the article is the origin and significance of the cult of the snake Nechushana in Jerusalem. Its beginning is connected with Moses (2 Kgs. 18.4). The following part examines contextual references Nb. 21,4–9, the pericopes constituting the etiology for the information from 2 Kgs. 18.4. Thanks to that study, the key theological significance of the pericope has been shown (especially in relation to Ex 15, 22–26, Nb. 11). The third part of the analysis is a comparison of two texts, Nb. 21,4–9 and Gen. 3,1–(15)–24. Some elements of the narrative method have been used during the study. The juxtaposition of both texts allows to read the etiology of the copper snake made by Moses as a text which illustrates a paradigmatic story about the reasons for the lack of trust in God and its consequences presented in Genesis 3
Learning theories and interprofessional education: a user's guide
There is increasing interest in the theoretical underpinning of interprofessional education (IPE) and writers in this field are drawing on a wide range of disciplines for theories that have utility in IPE. While this has undoubtedly enriched the research literature, for the educational practitioner, whose aim is to develop and deliver an IPE curriculum that has sound theoretical underpinnings, this plethora of theories has become a confusing, and un-navigable quagmire. This article aims to provide a compass for those educational practitioners by presenting a framework that summarizes key learning theories used in IPE and the relationship between them. The study reviews key contemporary learning theories from the wider field of education used in IPE and the explicit applications of these theories in the IPE literature to either curriculum design or programme evaluation. Through presenting a broad overview and summary framework, the study clarifies the way in which learning theories can aid IPE curriculum development and evaluation. It also highlights areas where future theoretical development in the IPE field is required
Photoelectrochemistry of Langmuir-Blodgett films of a C-60 iminodiacetic acid ester derivative on ITO electrodes
The photoelectrochemical response of a C-60 iminodiacetic acid ester derivative (C(60)IDA), deposited on ITO electrodes by means of the Langmuir-Blodgett technique, has been investigated. The anodic photocurrent observed on the modified electrode corresponds to an electron transfer from the electrolyte through the LB film to the electrode. The action spectrum of photocurrent indicates C60IDA as the photoactive species in the photoinduced electron transfer process. Positive bias voltage, reducing agent and higher pH of the solution are beneficial factors for generating higher photocurrent. The quantum yield for photocurrent generation is 0.94% and can be raised to 3.40% under favorable conditions. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A. Factorization of weakly compact operators between Banach spaces and Fréchet or (LB)-spaces
[EN] In this note we show that weakly compact operators from a Banach space X into
a complete (LB)-space E need not factorize through a reflexive Banach space. If E is a Fréchet space, then weakly compact operators from a Banach space X into E factorize through a reflexive Banach space. The factorization of operators from a Fréchet or a complete (LB)-space into a Banach space mapping bounded sets into relatively weakly compact sets is also investigated. The research of the first author was partially supported by MEC and FEDER Project MTM2010-15200 and by GV Project Prometeo/2008/101.
