The Work Stories Corpus: Full-Time Workers Talk about Their Jobs, With Accompanying Psychological Data

    No full text
American full-time workers each wrote a 500-word essay about what they do for a living, and then completed a series of psychological measures for: (1) Work meaningfulness; (2) Personality; (3) Job commitment; and (4) Personal values. This data was originally used to develop a natural language algorithm to determine whether a person finds their work meaningful. However, it contains data for many psychological constructs, presenting a wealth of opportunity for use in future natural language measure development, and studies seeking to understand --- qualitatively or quantitatively --- the psychological experience of working in different jobs
