    Here is a simple, landscape-formatted, canvas-spined book about 9¼ x 8¼ with nearly identical front and back covers. The pattern is the same for fourteen of the fifteen fables presented. Texts with a monochrome splash of color behind them stand on the left facing a full-page black design against a single different color on the right. The exception is at the centerfold, which combines text and illustration on both pages and uses background color for both. All of the book's illustrations are signed Rufus Morris. The last adds 41. In TH, the distance is five miles and the stakes are five pounds. In The Tortoise and the Eagle, the eagle realizes in mid-air that he has been lied to about the reward of jewels and he exacts his revenge by sticking his talons into the soft parts of the tortoise's body. I find this version strange. Story and image for The Fox and the Wolf do not match: the story is about a cave, and the picture is about a well! There is of course also a well-known fable that involves a well. I think that the translator literally got onto a different page from the illustrator! In FK, the frogs ask for a king who would make them live a little honester. The most dramatic of the illustrations depicts desperation in The Old Man and Death.Edited by Edric Vredenbur

    This work is about the roles of Author, Publisher and Bookseller in Book development in Nigeria. The paper started by delving into the history of Book Publishing in Nigeria after which it proceeded by defining who an author, a publisher, and a bookseller is and expatiated on the indispensable roles of these key actors in Nigerian Book Industry and in the emerging Information Society. Furthermore, the various constraints to book development were identified while the paper advised on how the Book Industry can be further promoted in Nigeria. However, the paper concluded and made recommendations on how the Book sector can help in enhancing scholarship in the country

    In a brief, narrative biography of Edmund Morris, a Canadian artist of landscapes and Indians, Jean McGill describes the major events of his life and carrer. She is particularly factual in treating his educational experiences, his family and friends, and his varied, numerous paintings. Sometimes, however, these sections are little more than listings. Indeed, th~ unanalytical quality of this book is its major limitation. Often quoting the opinions of others, the author seems hesitant-almost unable-to put forth her critical reactions to Morris\u27s life and works. Instead of evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the paintings noted, she includes extensive commentaries from newspaper and other art critics

    Superluminal velocity through near-maximal neutrino oscillations or by being off shell

    Recently it was suggested that the observation of superluminal neutrinos by the OPERA collaboration may be due to group velocity effects resulting from close-to-maximal oscillation between neutrino mass eigenstates, in analogy to known effects in optics. We show that superluminal propagation does occur through this effect for a series of very narrow energy ranges, but this phenomenon cannot explain the OPERA measurement. Superluminal propagation can also occur if one of the neutrino masses is extremely small. However the effect only has appreciable amplitude at energies of order this mass and thus has negligible overlap with the multi-GeV scale of the experiment
