Monitoring of aphids in orches of passion fruit and interference of vegetable oil in the transmission of the Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic vírus
No full textO Brasil se destaca por ser o maior produtor mundial de maracujá, com crescimento recente da cultura no Nordeste do Rio Grande do Sul e Sul de Santa Catarina. O Endurecimento dos Frutos do Maracujazeiro (EFM), causado pelo Cowpea aphid- borne mosaic virus (CABMV), é considerada mundialmente a principal doença de etiologia viral e sua identificação em 2016 nestas regiões causou enormes prejuízos aos produtores desta fruta. A principal via de transmissão do CABMV é a inoculação por afídeos vetores através de picadas de prova. Este estudo teve como objetivo identificar as principais espécies de afídeos que ocorrem em pomares de maracujazeiro nos municípios de Santa Rosa do Sul/SC e Torres/RS, através do monitoramento com armadilhas de água do tipo Moericke (amarela) e do tipo Irwin (verde), identificando quais são possíveis transmissoras do CABMV, além de estimar a flutuação na sua abundância, relacionando com dados climáticos da região. Neste trabalho foi verificado também o efeito do uso de óleo vegetal na eficiência de aquisição e transmissão do CABMV por Aphis gossypii em maracujazeiro. O gênero Aphis e a espécie A. gossypii foram os afídeos predominantes nos pomares de maracujazeiro monitorados. A ocorrência de temperaturas médias mensais abaixo de 20°C foram favoráveis a maior dispersão de pulgões alados na região monitorada, e seus picos populacionais ocorreram no final de inverno e início da primavera (agosto a outubro). Foi constatada pela primeira vez a presença do CABMV na espécie Pentalonia nigronervosa. Doses de até 1,0%, de óleo vegetal e mineral não causaram sintomas de fitotoxidez em mudas de maracujá em casa de vegetação. A espécie A. gossypii teve eficiência de 80% na transmissão do CABMV em maracujazeiro em ensaio experimental. A utilização do óleo vegetal causou redução na aquisição e na transmissão do CABMV por A. gossypii em mudas de maracujazeiro em casa de vegetação. The Passionfruit Woodiness Disease (PWD) caused by the Cowpea aphid-borne mosaic virus (CABMV), is considered worldwide the main disease of viral etiology, and its detection in 2016 in these regions has caused a lot of damage to the producers of this fruit. The most important method of transmission of CABMV is inoculation by aphid vectors through trial stings. This study objective to identify the main aphid species occurring in passion fruit orchards in the municipalities of Santa Rosa Sul/SC and Torres/RS, by monitoring with traps water type Moericke (yellow) and the type Irwin (green). The species captured were identified vectors of CABMV, in addition to estimating the population fluctuation of these insects, relating with climatic data from the region. In this work, the effect of using vegetable oil on the efficiency of acquisition and transmission of CABMV by Aphis gossypii in passion fruit was also verified. The Aphis genus and the species A.gossypii were the predominant aphids in the monitored passion fruit orchards. The average monthly temperatures below 20° C favored a greater dispersion of winged aphids in the monitored region, and determination of peaks occurred in late winter and early spring (August to October). CABMV was detected for the first time in the species Pentalonia nigronervosa. Doses of up to 1,0% of vegetable and mineral oil didn ́t cause symptoms of phytotoxicity in passion fruit seedlings in a greenhouse. The species A. gossypii had an efficiency of 80% in the transmission of CABMV in passion fruit in the experiment. The use of vegetable oil caused a reduction in the acquisition and transmission of CABMV by A. gossypii in passion fruit seedlings in a greenhouse. The use of oils may be an alternative of controlling the transmission of CABMV. The knowledge of the population fluctuation of aphids in the region may assist in the adoption of PWD prevention and control measures more precisely
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
