Objective diagnosis of drowning: the diatom test revisited through the use of atomic force microscopy.
In patologia forense la diagnosi di annegamento presenta delle criticità nello stabilire se il decesso sia effettivamente dovuto ad asfissia da penetrazione di liquido nelle vie aree o per cause diverse, poiché non tutti i corpi rinvenuti in acqua sono annegati.
Le diatomee sono organismi unicellulari ubiquitari in habitat acquatici ed il loro contributo alla medicina legale è legato principalmente all’asfissia da annegamento in quanto considerate marcatori di inalazione attiva del mezzo liquido quando si trovano nei tessuti di soggetti deceduti per sospetto annegamento.
Scopo del presente lavoro riguarda la possibilità di utilizzare la microscopia a forza atomica nel cosiddetto test delle diatomee per la diagnosi oggettiva di annegamento, quale mezzo di integrazione e conferma dei dati forniti dalla microscopia ottica.The immersion death diagnosis, from the perspective of forensic medicine, is very difficult in order to establish if death is due to drowning or other causes, as not all bodies found in water have drowned.
Diatoms are ubiquitous unicellular organisms found in almost every water habitat. Their contribute to forensic science is primarily related to drowning death and its diagnosis, as as markers of active inhalation when found in tissues of suspected drowned subjects.
The aim of the present work was to investigate the possibility of using the Atomic Force Microscopy in diatom test for the diagnosis of drowning to integrate and confirm the data provided by optical microscopy

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Matching execution architecture models with functional models to analyze the time performance of CPS systems
Models are used in cyber-physical systems to improve the quality of the system and its development process by early validation and verification, using simulation, synthesis, and model-checking. Control algorithms are often specified and developed using Simulink models, with the limitation that the model is abstracted from the execution platform, with its computation and communication delays, and the generated code is meant to be executed in a single core. We propose a model-driven approach and tool support to specify the execution platform, the software and message implementation of synchronous models, and enable correct deployment and/or the evaluation of the impact of the delays of the selected platform on the system performance

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
