Autoethnographie als Lippenbekenntnis des Experten. Ein Versuch über Salah Methnanis 'Immigrato'
Toward the end of 1989 Italy mutated from a country of emigration to a country of immigration. A transcultural penetration of society begins, in which interest in migration literature also moves into focus. This literary trend, in which the authors write about their liminal experiences and that of foreignness as part of an autoethnography, also ushered in a change in publishing strategy in Italy. Migrant writers suddenly have a market value: the example of Salah Methnani's novel Immigrato will be used to illustrate the interplay between author and language mediator, who usually acts as editor, if not as co-author of the literary work. Methnani's case is exemplary in that, as I will try to show, by co-editing his novel he is deprived of the possibility of self-expression, for he finds himself condemned to be represented and explained by another “voice”
Forme del processo e figure della verità. Interpretazione retorica del dipinto La Calunnia di Sandro Botticelli
[Forms of trial and shapes of truth. Rhetorical interpretation of painting The Calumny by Sandro Botticelli] In this paper, the author proposes a rhetorical reading of painting Calumny of Sandro Botticelli, tempera on panel executed between 1494 and 1497 and preserved in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
Recovering classical interpretation of trial in Renaissance culture, Botticelli determines by antithesis the legal value of justice, describing shape of unfair trial and oblivion of truth in judgment. Botticelli uses an ekphrastic technique, typical of Greek culture, and reworks mythology with modern language.
The explanation proceeds according to three methodological levels of investigation about the work analyzed. (1) Analysis of the origin of painting in literary genre of rhetorical ékphrasis in Greek culture and in Renaissance age. (2) Description of iconographic unfair trial, represented by painting, through exegesis of meaning of rhetorical forms, historical context and allegorical figures. (3) Iconological interpretation of painting (in the sense of Erwin Panofsky) such as paradigm of classical in modern age, through definition of eight dialectical oppositions in the representation
Jörg Fauser
Jörg Fauser was the enfant terrible of the German literary scene. Born in the
Taunus town of Bad Schwalbach in 1944, he worked a number of different jobs
(temporary worker, airport worker, night guard, journalist, author and rock
songwriter). The night after his forty-third birthday, he died tragically and
under mysterious circumstances when walking on the A94 highway between
Feldkirchen and Riehm near Munich, where he was hit by a truck. It was only
after his death that he became an iconic figure. In 1988, Das Syndikat, a group
of German crime writers, awarded him the prestigious Ehrenglauser prize for
crime fiction, named after the Swiss author Friedrich Glauser

Courses for software professionals as two-way communication channels between academia and industry
This paper summarizes some of the lessons learned by the author in teaching courses for software professionals. These classes' primary objective is to provide participants with
knowledge about some software engineering methods and techniques. We summarize some advice on how to build and deliver these classes. In addition, these courses are also a good two-way communication channel between academia and industry, since the instructors can get good insights into current practices and future trends. So, these courses help bridge the gap between Academia and Industry in both education and research
Die Ichsetzung als Effekt des Dritten. Feridun Zaimoglus Plädoyer für kulturelle Differenz.
In a German society characterized by immigration, ethnic diversity and cultural heterogeneity, the question of national identity and that of individual groups has become particularly important in the course of globalization. Since the waves of immigration from southern Europe in the mid-1950s and later from southeastern and eastern Europe, this question has also become politically virulent in the wake of right-wing extremist attacks in the early 1990s at the latest. It gains additional explosiveness in the 21st century, because the since then recognizable tendencies of pluralization of lifestyles and the renaissance of ethnic consciousness will coincide with a demo- graphic change of the ethnic composition within German society. According to the latest figures from the Federal Statistical Office, 10.6 million foreigners currently live in Germany (as of 2018 for the year 2017). With a population of around 82.5 million, this corresponds to a proportion of foreigners of around 12.5 percent. Of these, 19.3 million people have a migration background. The writer Feridun Zaimoeglu, born in Bolu (Turkey) in 1964 and living in Germany for over 40 years with short interruptions, is one of them. His advocacy for marginalized Turks, to whom he lends his literary voice, has earned him attributions such as "Malcolm X of the Turks" or "writing arm of Turkish power." With his first book Kanak Sprak, he presented authentic confessions by young men of Turkish descent that caused a sensation within a very short time. For years, he researched the fringes of German society in the milieu of multi-ethnic migrants who call themselves Kanaks. How does a Kanak live in Germany? was his provocative question. The result is 24 misnomers on the fringes of society, as the book Kanak Sprak is subtitled. Zaimoglu, who enjoys the status of a cult author in the scene, is not only the (co)founder of the German-Turkish mixed language that goes by the label Kanak sprak, but also the literary spokesman of the third generation of migrants. With his first book Kanak Sprak, he presented authentic confessions by young men of Turkish descent that caused a sensation within a very short time. For years, he researched on the fringes of German society in the milieu of multi-ethnic migrants who call themselves Kanaks. How does a Kanak live in Germany? was his provocative question. The result is 24 misnomers on the fringes of society, as the book Kanak Sprak is subtitled. In addition to Kanak Sprak, the Turkish-born author has drawn attention to the social type and ethnic niche of the Kanak in other works. The novel Abschaum (1997) chronicles in 13 episodes the true story of Ertan Ongun (the subtitle). This was followed in 1998 by Koppstoff. Kanaka Sprak vom Rande der Gesellschaft (Kanaka Sprak from the Fringes of Society), the female counterpart to Kanak Sprak, that is, 26 protocols by Turkish migrant women. Here, as there, those representatives from "the league of the damned" have their say who, unlike their fathers' generation who came to Germany as guest workers, perceive discrimination from a completely different perspective. With their generation, the discussion about the integration of citizens of a different origin, different religious orientation and with certain ethnic and cultural ideas of life has reached a first decisive climax. They strictly reject acculturation in the sense of adaptation, which is understood as a reaction to a long-term contact situation with the German majority culture, usually existing since childhood. This conscious positioning in the field of tension between foreign and their own culture is ultimately not only an attempt to preserve their own cultural values, but also and especially to critically question these values themselves in order to create a new basis for their identity. This attempt can be subsumed under the dynamic of the effects of the third, which always arise when intellectual operations no longer merely oscillate between the two sides of a distinction, but the distinction as such becomes the object and problem. In the negotiation of a new identity between foreign and one's own culture, the fact of the distinction is added like a third. The distance to possible cultural reference systems becomes politically virulent at the latest when the socio-political attempt to create a unity threatens to fail because of the "difference between one's own and foreign cultures". This article deals with the distinction that the cultural scientist Homi Bhabha has terminologically occupied with the concepts of cultural diversity and cultural difference, in order to derive his theory of the 'third space' and to apply it to Feridun Zaimoglu's poetics.
An extracellular transglutaminase is required for apple pollen tube growth
An extracellular form of the calcium-dependent protein-crosslinking enzyme TGase (transglutaminase) was demonstrated to be involved in the apical growth of Malus domestica pollen tube. Apple pollen TGase and its substrates were co-localized within aggregates on the pollen tube surface, as determined by indirect immunofluorescence staining and the in situ cross-linking of fluorescently labelled substrates. TGase-specific inhibitors and an anti-TGase monoclonal antibody blocked pollen tube growth, whereas incorporation of a recombinant fluorescent mammalian TGase substrate (histidine-tagged green fluorescent protein:His6– Xpr–GFP) into the growing tube wall enhanced tube length and germination, consistent with a role of TGase as a modulator of cell wall building and strengthening. The secreted pollen TGase catalysed the cross-linking of both PAs (polyamines) into proteins (released by the pollen tube) and His6-Xpr-GFP into endogenous or exogenously added substrates. A similar distribution of TGase activitywas observed in planta on pollen tubes germinating inside the style, consistent with a possible additional role for TGase in the interaction between the pollen tube and the style during fertilization
The Mole & The Snake
This article starts from the Foucaultanian notions of biopower and discipline, deal- ing with the strategies of the modern and contemporary capitalism. Introducing the term biopower into his research, Foucault is alluding to a series of transformations re- lated to the capitalist system: life enters into the scope of power in terms of “controlled insertion of bodies” in the social apparatus of production, as well as in terms of an “adaptation of population phenomena to economic processes”. It involves the exchange of services on which the Fordist social pact was founded in the twentieth century. The life that is claimed in and against the relationship of capital concerns “needs” that refer to a “concrete essence of man”. In the undeniable awareness of a “triangulation” between sovereignty, discipline and biopower, the author, as a criterion for reading the dynamics of contemporary power, analyzes the theme of control referring to Deleuze. This is de- lineated in the double form of “biopolitical algorithms” and of the normalization that by means of the selection and targeted processing of big data and information packages, incessantly produced by social activity in and on the network, capture forms of life at the service of capitalism
