De la vida doméstica en la villa de Lahiguera (Jaén): la carta de dote de doña Ana de Quesada y Aguilar (1620). Edición y estudio
Con autorización de la editorial para este capítulo.[EN] Master Ledesma, born in Lahiguera and prior of the churches of La Moraleda de Belmez, San Miguel de Baeza and Cabra del Santo Cristo between 1620 and 1676, wrote himself, en absençia de escribano, the dowry letter for her sister, Ana de Quesada y Aguilar, who was to wed the mayor of the their birthplace. In doing this, master Ledesma acted as a scribe and handed down to posterity a document remarkable for the purity of its phrasing, the contrast between old-fashioned and classical forms of Spanish and for its partial interest from the point of view of dialectology.[ES] El maestro Ledesma, natural de Lahiguera y prior que fue de las iglesias de La Moraleda de Belmez, San Miguel de Baeza y Cabra del Santo Cristo entre 1620 y 1676, redactó «en absençia de escribano» la carta de dote de su hermana Ana de Quesada y Aguilar, quien casaba con el alcalde ordinario de su lugar de origen.
Jerónimo Nadal plays a key role in the creation of the tradition of thought based on the person of Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556) and his Spiritual Exercises. Ignacio Ramos book Jerónimo Nadal (1507-1580) und der verschriftlichte Ignatius unveils the large percentage of too often overlooked Nadalian moments in the origins of Ignatian Spirituality.
Leaning on Nadal s autobiographical account ( Chronicon Natalis, fully translated) the author deploys a hermeneutical method to show how Nadal´s stressful maturation process became a source of original thought, especially regarding Ignatius.
The reader will gain an existentially mediated insight into some of the social and philosophical hot spots (converso question, role of mediations...) of Humanism and the reformation era.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
TV creativity on social networks @RTVE on Twitter
The creative process, the ideas and their execution in the television field are undergoing continuous adaptation to the digitalization of processes, the transformation of the audience into individuals and in content with more weight of the video, the audiovisual, segmented and specific themes. In this new content the audiovisual colonizes creativity and content in itself, requires a new creative process, a reformulation of the same creativity applied in television as a result of technology, ideas, content and its consumption. Offering a quantitative measurement of this data on Twitter of the @RTVE channels over a period of time, their audiovisual content and the concrete use of the image as creativities in social networks is the main contribution of this research, in a quantitative way of themselves and with a specificity and qualitative analysis of the bibliographic sources taken in the possible reformulation of creativity towards a new language of consumption.
Exploiting the Chalcone Scaffold to Develop Multifunctional Agents for Alzheimer’s Disease
Alzheimer’s disease still represents an untreated multifaceted pathology, and drugs able to stop or reverse its progression are urgently needed. In this paper, a series of naturally inspired chalcone-based derivatives was designed as structural simplification of our previously reported benzofuran lead compound, aiming at targeting both acetyl (AChE)- and butyryl (BuChE) cholinesterases that, despite having been studied for years, still deserve considerable attention. In addition, the new compounds could also modulate different pathways involved in disease progression, due to the peculiar trans-α,β-unsaturated ketone in the chalcone framework. All molecules presented in this study were evaluated for cholinesterase inhibition on the human enzymes and for antioxidant and neuroprotective activities on a SH-SY5Y cell line. The results proved that almost all the new compounds were low micromolar inhibitors, showing different selectivity depending on the appended substituent; some of them were also effective antioxidant and neuroprotective agents. In particular, compound 4, endowed with dual AChE/BuChE inhibitory activity, was able to decrease ROS formation and increase GSH levels, resulting in enhanced antioxidant endogenous defense. Moreover, this compound also proved to counteract the neurotoxicity elicited by Aβ1–42 oligomers, showing a promising neuroprotective potential
5-Methyl-N-(8-(5,6,7,8-tetrahydroacridin-9-ylamino)octyl)-5 H -indolo[2,3- b] quinolin-11-amine: a highly potent human cholinesterase inhibitor
The synthesis, cholinesterase inhibition, molecular modelling and ADME properties of novel tacrine-neocryptolepine heterodimers are described. Compound 3 [5-methyl-N-(8-(5,6,7,8-tetrahydroacridin-9-ylamino)octyl)-5H-indolo[2,3-b]quinolin-11-amine], showing a moderate inhibition of the AÎ21-42self-aggregation (26.5% at a 1:5 ratio with AÎ21-42), and a calculated logBB value (0.27) indicating excellent potential BBB penetration, is a highly potent human cholinesterase inhibitor [IC50(hAChE) = 0.95 ± 0.04 nM; IC50(hBuChE) = 2.29 ± 0.14 nM] which can be listed among the most potent hAChE inhibitors so far identified, and is not hepatotoxic in vitro at the concentrations at which the ChEs are inhibited. A molecular modeling study was also undertaken in order to elucidate the AChE and the BuChE bind modes of all the new compounds. The docking results show that all of them bind to AChE in extended conformations and to BuChE in folded conformations. Moreover, these studies revealed that the length of the linker is crucial to binding both the catalytic anionic site and the peripheral anionic site

Understanding Family Planning in San Ignacio, Belize
This study focuses on women’s decisions and experiences related to family planning in San Ignacio, Belize. The authors sought to identify family planning resources available in San Ignacio, as well as barriers to accessing these resources. Furthermore, this study explored how local barriers affected the use of contraception in San Ignacio. The first author traveled to San Ignacio and carried out four semi-structured interviews and one focus group with local women. She also conducted nine semi-structured interviews with community leaders. Women discussed their own knowledge and use of contraceptive methods, barriers to contraceptive use, the value of planned pregnancies and their pregnancy experiences. Community leaders reported that contraceptive methods were available but also admitted to the existence of perceived barriers to contraceptive use.
Women stated that planned pregnancies were desirable, but often unachievable because of religious beliefs, cultural norms, the opposition of family members, lack of knowledge of contraceptive methods and male partners seeking control over women. Community leaders reported that men are often unsupportive of contraceptive use and that religious groups often seek to discourage contraceptive use. Both women and community leaders stated that in San Ignacio, women are expected to have families and that local religious groups discourage the use of contraception.
Use of contraceptives among women in San Ignacio is thus not solely determined by the availability of contraceptives. Organizations that aim to promote family planning must implement multilevel initiatives that address the needs, desires and perspectives of community members, promote healthy relationships and challenge gender inequitable social norms
