A C++-embedded Domain-Specific Language for programming the MORA soft processor array

    No full text
MORA is a novel platform for high-level FPGA programming of streaming vector and matrix operations, aimed at multimedia applications. It consists of soft array of pipelined low-complexity SIMD processors-in-memory (PIM). We present a Domain-Specific Language (DSL) for high-level programming of the MORA soft processor array. The DSL is embedded in C++, providing designers with a familiar language framework and the ability to compile designs using a standard compiler for functional testing before generating the FPGA bitstream using the MORA toolchain. The paper discusses the MORA-C++ DSL and the compilation route into the assembly for the MORA machine and provides examples to illustrate the programming model and performance

The phenomenon of the medieval royal election thing of Mora, on the outskirts of Uppsala in central Sweden, is an under-researched topic from an archaeological viewpoint. With the archaeological material in focus, the author reviews the current state of research and offers a new hypothesis about the development of Mora as a non-continuous thing site with three phases: in the 500s, 1300s and1400s. It connects to long debated questions such as where in Mora the actual thing was located, why Mora was chosen to host this important ceremonial act, and how the semi-mythical “Stone of Mora” is to be understood

Low seismic resolution cannot explain S/P decorrelation in the lower mantle

Inverted models of the deep mantle show a decorrelation between maps of shear V(S) and compressional V(P) wave velocities, an anti-correlation between the bulk sound velocity V(phi) and V(S) and a much larger variability of V(S) with respect to V(P), expressed by large values of the ratio of their relative lateral variations. We carried out synthetic tests to verify if these features could be artifacts, explained by limits in tomographic resolution: synthetic data are calculated for an "input" model, and linearly inverted, as in tomography, to find an "output" model. Comparing the values of the aforementioned parameters for two different chemically homogeneous input models with the associated reconstructed output ones, we found that artifacts caused by realistic data noise and the nonuniform distribution of seismic sources and stations over the globe are not sufficient to introduce the features previously described. We confirm that compositional effects are required to explain them. Citation: Della Mora, S., L. Boschi, P. J. Tackley, T. Nakagawa, and D. Convergence of equilibria of thin elastic plates under physical growth conditions for the energy density

    No full text
The asymptotic behaviour of the equilibrium configurations of a thin elastic plate is studied, as the thickness of the plate goes to zero. More precisely, it is shown that critical points of the nonlinear elastic functional converge to critical points of the Γ-limit. This is proved under the physical assumption that the energy density blows up as the determinant of the deformation gradient becomes infinitesimally small

Otvoreno more s posebnim osvrtom na slobode otvorenog mora

    No full text
Pregled sloboda otvorenog mora: (1) sloboda plovidbe; (2) sloboda prelijetanja; (3) sloboda polaganja morskih kabela i cjevovoda; (4) sloboda podizanja umjetnih otoka; (5) sloboda znanstvenoga istraživanja te (6) sloboda ribolova. Najvažniji primjeri zloupotrebe sloboda otvorenoga mora su: nuklearni pokusi u moru i u atmosferi; pokusi s raketama dugoga dometa, pomorski manveri širokih razmjera

MORA - an architecture and programming model for a resource efficient coarse grained reconfigurable processor

    No full text
This paper presents an architecture and implementation details for MORA, a novel coarse grained reconfigurable processor for accelerating media processing applications. The MORA architecture involves a 2-D array of several such processors, to deliver low cost, high throughput performance in media processing applications. A distinguishing feature of the MORA architecture is the co-design of hardware architecture and low-level programming language throughout the design cycle. The implementation details for the single MORA processor, and benchmark evaluation using a cycle accurate simulator are presented

Strategic public value(s) governance: A systematic literature review and framework for analysis

    No full text
This article offers evidence‐based understanding of public value creation in multi‐actor collaborations by presenting the results of a systematic literature review of empirical studies published within the public administration field. Specifically, it focuses on two primary research questions: How do multi‐actor collaborations generate public value(s)? What types of public value(s) are created by these collaborative endeavors? Our results shed light on 12 strategic governance components for enacting public value(s) governance (PVsG) in multi‐actor collaborations, including six key public values to be considered for discerning and assessing processes of public value generation. We contribute to theory and practice by providing a unifying framework to PVsG which updates the public value strategic triangle combining Moore's managerial action‐focused approach with Bozeman's policy or societally oriented public values approach
