Over the last years, philosophical thoughts about art, has probably been confronted to one of its greatest challenges: facing the present of art. From different theoretical traditions and argumentative positions, the notion of “contemporary art” is problematized in the philosophical field. In this article I present some approaches of Juliane Rebenstisch who can be recognized as a heir of the Frankfurt Institute of Social Research critical tradition like. I try to highlight some warnings made by this author about the implications of contemporary art and the analogies it has with the logics of the market and the forms of neoliberalism. The present work presents a theoretical study that aims to render problematic the concept of quality in translation in Juliane House. Its realization followed the principles of comparative conceptual research, centered on the comparison between the concept of quality used by Juliane House in her model of quality assessment in translation (HOUSE, 2015) and the precepts of the main concepts of quality practiced in the discipline Quality Management of the Administration Rank. The results obtained indicate that for House “quality means equivalence and equivalence means quality”. The concept of quality retained by the author is limited to the linguistic aspect of the translation, based on the concept of linguistic equivalence, focusing on the product and executed a posteriori, after the end of the translation process; these characteristics are fully opposed to the global, broad and anticipatory concept as practiced within the scope of the Quality Management discipline. The methodology followed was based on the comparative method and the analysis of concepts.Instituto de Letras (IL)Departamento de Línguas Estrangeiras e Tradução (IL LET)Programa de Pós-Graduação em Estudos da Traduçã

Title: Discrimination of Two Auditory Durations by Pigeons, Author: Juliane B. Kinchla, Location: ThodeAuditory duration discrimination in pigeons was investigated using a procedure designed to provide a direct analogue to the conventional "yes-no" signal detection task with humans. Two experiments were reported and discussed, the scope of which include development and maintenance of the discrimination using highly confusable durations, manipulation of the values of the auditory durations, achievement of stochastic stationary, manipulation of the probability of reinforcement and extinction of the discrimination.ThesisDoctor of Philosophy (PhD

“Challenging the Authority of Religious Interpretation in Saudi Arabia::The Transformation of Suhaila Zain al-Abedin Hammad

    No full text
Taking as its starting point that a male monopoly is a problem in the recognition of Islamic religious authority, especially in matters related to women, this chapter discusses the possibilities for challenging this monopoly. The author argues that it is necessary to create alternative sources of authority from within the realm of religious scholarship through women scholars laying direct claim to the interpretation of sacred texts. Al Fassi uses the works and experiences of the Saudi scholar, Suhaila Zain al-Abedin Hammad, as a specific example for this approach. Hammad, an accomplished religious scholar, has worked tirelessly through her writing, both in books and her weekly newspaper column, to address difficult issues in Islamic law, to rethink the use of weak hadiths, and to critique Saudi legal rulings. The chapter also considers the intense backlash against her work and her impact on Saudi public opinion. © 2020 selection and editorial matter, Dina El Omari, Juliane Hammer and Mouhanad Khorchide; individual chapters, the contributors

    Sportler und Verein: Eine Musterathletenvereinbarung

Unchanged in content. In the last 10 years, Athletenvereinbarungen have established themselves between sportsmen and associations. But the clubs should also strive for active legal cooperation outside the sports business with their athletes. But are these agreements not just instruments for the association to gag the athletes themselves? Will this not restrict the individual marketing rights and thus also the chances of the athlete? These questions are to be investigated in the first part of the book. The aim is to clarify the theoretical foundations of Athletenvereinbarungen and to explain them in the example of an association's agreement. The author Juliane Thieme first clarifies the legal classification of the sport. Subsequently, the Athletenvereinbarung is defined as a legal transaction and marketing rights are generally listed and defined. Then the clauses of the agreement of the Association are analyzed and possible sources of error are revealed. On this basis, the author then creates a Musterathletenvereinbarung for an association and explains its paragraphs. The book is aimed at associations and associations, decision-makers and managers in sports, trainers and sponsors

An analysis of a translation of a scientific text according to juliane house's model of translation assessment

    No full text
This translation project attempts to examine the applicability of Juliane House's theory for translation evaluation on a scientific text. To this end, an article on cellular biology taken from a scientific journal (Naturwissenschaften, Vol. 62, pp. 331-340) was translated by the author, and problems of a terminological and syntactic nature were examined. Although terminological and syntactic peculiarities seem to be related, a lot of emphasis was placed on the latter in an attempt to show that style does in fact play a role in the translation of scientific and technical texts. For the sake of clarity, the annotations to the translation were divided into two broad categories: annotations of a stylistic nature and annotations of a terminological nature. Furthermore, the annotations dealing with stylistic and syntactic peculiarities were divided into four subsections: additions, repetitions, syntactic changes and use of the impersonal
