Revealing the Truths and Fallacies of Orientalism through Sahar Khalifeh\u27s Wild Thorns
Palestinian-American author Edward Said is famous for documenting the phenomenon he calls Orientalism, in which he describes the demeaning perception that the West holds of the East. Perpetuated through much of western material culture, this orientalist perception stigmatizes the East with negative stereotypes, transforming the Orient into an inferior region. This substandard representation acts as the foundation for the relationship between the Occident and the Orient, and allows the West\u27s continued domination over the East. According to Said, this hierarchical relationship will remain until individuals write back to this orientalist perception and reveal other aspects of eastern culture. Accordingly, Palestinian writer Sahar Khalifeh follows Saidian theory in her novel, Wild Thorns, as she takes what Said calls the voyage in and writes back to this orientalist perception, depicting the complexities of eastern society through her main characters Usama and Adil
Modeling the Innovation Orientation and Market Orientation of Banks Electronic Services Using Hybrid Model of FAHP, FTOPSIS and Possibility Theory
The purpose of this study is to consider and modeling E-Commerce variables based on FAHP, FTOPSIS and Possibility Theory to create a new approach in decision-making techniques. Thus, modeling Market Orientations and Innovation Orientation indicators as the E-Satisfaction factors and Fulfillment & Reliability, Responsiveness and Security indicators as the E-Trust factors is done for selected banks. Data collected from customers and experts via distributing questionnaires and the data were analyzed by FAHP, FTOPSIS and Possibility Theory techniques. The results show that E-Satisfaction, Innovation Orientation and Security are the important indicators in E-Loyalty and Mellat Bank takes the highest rank in covering these indicators
INVESTIGATE TECHNO-ECONOMICAL ASPECTS OF PRESSURE BOOSTING STATIONS TO ENHANCE OIL EXTRACTION IN GACHSARAN
The purpose of this study is to consider strategies and options for improving the efficiency of the pressure boosting station No. 4 in Gachsaran oil reserve (which is located in south-western of Iran). In order to achieve these objectives, the four rational options from technical and operational views were proposed and then these options went through an economic assessment. Next, by
onsidering the other important criteria based on technical conditions (due to the necessity of evaluating other criteria beside economic criterion), decisionmaking techniques were employed. The results of economic evaluation show that the present value of the costs of option 1 is lower than other options and option 2 provides poorer economic status and is ranked last among the
recommended options. Therefore, option 1 is 30.5 percent better than option 2. In addition, employing MCDM Technique allocated maximum weight (0.320) to economic evaluation criterion and again option 1 -with the highest weight (0.354)- was the best possible option. Regards to purpose of this study, using
techno-economical approach leads practitioners to decide based on technical and economic facts simultaneously

Gallstone pancreatitis in children: Atypical presentation and review
Pancreatitis in children is less common than in adults and is mostly related to trauma, infection and anatomical anomalies. Gallstone pancreatitis is an even rarer entity in infants and children. We present an unusual case of gallstone pancreatitis in a 17- month-old girl who presented with jaundice of 1 month duration. The laboratory studies showed conjugated hyperbilirubinaemia with associated acute pancreatitis and pseudo-hyponatraemia secondary to the markedly elevated lipid profile. Further evaluations revealed obstruction at the Ampulla of Vater with no evidence of a choledochal cyst and no mass lesion seen in the pancreas. The patient initially underwent urgent decompressive cholecystostomy with intraoperative cholecystography. When the biochemical parameters improved, the patient underwent formal cholecystectomy with common bile duct exploration, extraction of multiple impacted stones in the ampullary region and Fogarty balloon sphincterotomy. The post-operative course was uneventful. Conclusion:Acute gallstone pancreatitis in children may present as jaundice or abdominal pain. Recognition, early diagnosis and surgical intervention are the mainstay for a good outcome. © Springer-Verlag 2005.ALBU E, 1987, J PEDIATR SURG, V22, P960, DOI 10.1016-S0022-3468(87)80601-2; BEHRMAN RE, 2000, NELSON TXB PEDIAT, P221; BRILL PW, 1982, PEDIATR RADIOL, V12, P285, DOI 10.1007-BF00973193; Holcomb GW, 1999, J PEDIATR SURG, V34, P1236, DOI 10.1016-S0022-3468(99)90159-8; LILLY JR, 1980, J PEDIATR SURG, V15, P577, DOI 10.1016-S0022-3468(80)80777-9; LJUNG R, 1992, ACTA PAEDIATR, V81, P69, DOI 10.1111-j.1651-2227.1992.tb12082.x; PARIENTE D, 1989, PEDIATR RADIOL, V19, P104, DOI 10.1007-BF02387896; PORKORNY WJ, 1984, AM J SURG, V148, P742; RANSON JHC, 1979, ANN SURG, V189, P654, DOI 10.1097-00000658-197905000-00016; SABESIN SM, 1982, GASTROENTEROLOGY, V83, P704; Sutton R, 2001, ANN ROY COLL SURG, V83, P406; Wilcox DT, 1997, PEDIATR SURG INT, V12, P19831
Role of Consumption Emotions Mediate Perceived Service Fairness to the Service Satisfaction and Its Impact on Customers’ Behavioral Intentions
Considering that customers’ emotions toward received services are evaluated in light of fairness and equity theory, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of customers’ perceptions and emotions of received services on their behavioral intentions. Data were collected from 329 questioners that were distributed among Mellat bank customers, and hypotheses and the conceptual model were analyzed based on the data collected through structural equation modeling in AMOS 18. Results showed that three dimensions of interactional, procedural, and distributive justice affected customers’ emotions (negative and positive) and satisfaction. Customers’ emotions were also found to be having a mediating role in the relationship between perceptions of fairness (except procedural fairness) and customer satisfaction. The other results are the effect of customer satisfaction on behavioral intentions (repeat purchases and Word-of-mouth advertising). Finally, the study suggests some practical solutions and future research topics
Optimal design of a multi-echelon supply chain in a system thinking framework: An integrated financial-operational approach
Therapeutic Effects of High-Dose Intravenous Prednisolone in Methanol-Induced Toxic Optic Neuropathy
Designing Supply Chain and Integrating Financial and Operational Approach
The purpose of this study is to -by designing a four echelons supply chain network and considering system and holistic thinking- regard financial and operational considerations -unlike previous studies- in strategic and tactical levels of decision-making and present integrated approach in mathematical modeling. In addition, unlike other studies that only consider profit in the models, the objective of the model is to optimize change in equity and compare with maximizing profit. GAMS and CPLEX solver are used as software for mathematical modeling. Results are indicated of the importance role of financial approach and integration of financial and operational approach in chain purposes and obtaining sustainable competitive advantage. Also, sensitivity analysis on main parameters is done to show the validity and robostness of the model
