Some forgotten equilibria of the Bertrand duopoly!?
This note analyzes the Bertrand duopoly with constant but asymmetric marginal costs on a market with homogenous products. It is shown that there exist some equilibria that are ignored in the literature on IO. In addition, in this setting (perfectly or nearly perfectly) competitive equilibria exist.
From Corporate Culture to Corporate Identity
International audienceA FRENCH PERSPECTIVE ON IDENTITY This paper introduces a distinct approach to organizational identity study which has lately been known as the 'French School of Thought' (Moingeon and Ramanantsoa, 1997). Larçon and Reitter (1979) defined identity as a set of interdependent characteristics of an organization which give the organization specificity, distinctiveness and coherence over time. Following this path-setting definition, a 'tradition' of identity research emerged at HEC Business School, Paris. This definition is broadly similar to that of Albert and Whetten (1985) which is regarded as the foundation stone of the OB (organizational behavior) approach to identity (Whetten and Godfrey, 1998). However, there are some specificities to the French school of thought which will be illustrated below in the context of the study of firms merger, notably, this case illustrates the importance of a notion of organizational imaginaire, a concept somewhat linked to that of organizational images (Dutton et al., 1994
Knowledge management : a learning mix perspective
How can an organization define policy for managing its knowledge ? In this article, an integrative model is proposed : the Learning Mix. It consists of 4 interacting facets: Information Technology, Learning Structure, Knowledge Portfolio and Learning Identity.knowledge management; learning; learning model
Heterogeneous Behavioral Rules in the Oligopolistic Case
In a static symmetric duopoly the set of behavioral rules is extended to different types of markup pricing. Using an equilibrium concept suggested in Pasche (2001), it is shown that dependend on the markup neither pure Cournot nor pure Bertrand behavior is a behavioral equilibrium profile. Instead, there is a rationale for the usage of simple heuristics. The presence of markup rules leads to Stackelberg outcomes. Furthermore, pure markup behavior is more competitive than in Cournot case but less competitive than in Bertrand case. It is shown, that multiple behavioral equilibria and heterogeneous behavior may arise, where at least one player uses price setting strategies.oligopoly, markup rules, heterogeneity, behavioral equilibrium.
A Bertrand-Edgeworth-oligopóliumok (Bertrand-Edgeworth oligopolies – a survey of the literature)
Az irodalomban az olyan oligopolmodellek, amelyekben mind az ár, mind a mennyiség döntési változó, Bertrand-Edgeworth-oligopóliumok néven ismertek. E tanulmányban a Bertrand-Edgeworth-oligopóliumokkal kapcsolatos érdekesebb eredményeket tekintjük át. Tárgyaljuk a Bertrand-Edgeworth-típusú oligopolmodellek specifikációját, a Nash-egyensúly létezését, a Nash-egyensúly meghatározását és a Bertrand-Edgeworth-oligopóliumok alkalmazásait. / === / Oligopoly models in which both price and quantity are decisive variables are known in the literature as Bertrand-Edgeworth oligopolies, the most interesting results with which are surveyed in this paper. The author assumes the existence of the Nash equilibrium, as the specification of Bertrand-Edgeworth-type oligopoly models, the determination of the Nash equilibrium, and the application of Bertrand-Edgeworth oligopolies

The essay deals with the origins of the liberal socialism of Bertrand Russell. The thesis is that all major ideas of the english author are present in first political books he publish
Bertrand Russell y el pragmatismo
This paper analyzes the two stages of the relationship of the British philosopher Bertrand Russell withpragmatism. The first section reviews the criticisms that the author made to American pragmatists. The second exposes Russell’s pragmatic turn, exposing the causes of this turn and its consequences. This paper argues that both stages should be understood in the context of the discussions about truth that were observed in philosophy in the first decades of the 20th century

Contribution à une socio-économie des organisations : l'exemple d'un univers associatif
The socio-economic approach that we are proposing is opposed top that adopted by supporters of the theory of rational action. This approach leads us to denounce models which represent man as an actor free from all economic and social conditioning as unrealistic. We believe that the homo-oeconomicus model in which man is nothing but a disembodied being reduced to a maximizer of utility placed under certain constraints, cannot explain real behaviour. In this dissertation, we reject disciplinary compartmentalization and have also attempted to go beyond the descriptive stage found in most studies on organizations. We have demonstrated the usefulness of combining Pierre Bourdieu's theory of the habitus and the field with the grid of organizations developed by the professors in the "strategy and business policy" department of the Groupe HEC. Such an approach, as shown in this study, does, in fact, enable us to go beyond the descriptive stage to arrive at a better understanding of how organizations operate the group of associations studied is made up of sports clubs. In these non-profit organizations, the agents can be both consumers and members. The socioeconomic perspective which we have adopted lets us not only explain how these organizations operate as fields, but also lets us explain these "consumer" choicesL'approche socio-économique que nous proposons s'inscrit en opposition à la démarche adoptée par les tenants de la théorie de l'action rationnelle.
