Analytical Approach for Linear Programming Using Barrier and Penalty Function Methods

    Get PDF
In order to solve the primal linear programming problems (and its dual) some methods have been used such as simplex method, geometric approach and interior points methods. None of these methods used Lagrangian function as a tool to solve the problem. This raises a question why are we not using this to solve the linear programming problems. Thus, in this research we study and analyze how the behavior and performance of barrier functions and penalty functions methods for solving the linear programming problems. All of these functions are in Lagrangian form. With logarithmic barrier function methods we introduce three types of function; that is, primal logarithmic, dual logarithmic and primal-dual logarithmic functions. There are two mam results obtained from the logarithmic function method. First, we prove that for every value of the barrier parameter, the logarithmic barrier function for the problem has a unique minimizer; and then if the sequence of the values of barrier parameters tends to zero, then the sequence of the minimizers converges to a minimizer of the problem. From these properties, we construct an algorithm for solving the problem using the logarithmic barrier function methods. Second, we give the equivalences between the interior points set, the primal logarithmic barrier function, the dual logarithmic barrier function, the primal-dual logarithmic barrier function and the system of linear equations associated with these functions

Optimizing Decision-Making for Placement and Quantity of Tower Cranes in High-Rise Building Projects

    No full text
The optimal placement and selection of tower cranes are critical in high-rise construction projects due to their significant impact on operational efficiency, costs, and safety. Misplacement or an inadequate number of cranes can lead to extended project duration, higher expenses and increased safety risks. This study investigates the factors influencing optimal tower crane placement, evaluates existing methodologies, and introduces a simulation-based approach for enhanced decision-making. Using a case study method, data were collected through site observations, interviews with project managers, and computer simulations. Findings reveal that simulation tools can optimize crane productivity, minimize operational costs, and enhance workplace safety. Integrating advanced technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) further supports accurate placement and operational efficiency. These results underline the importance of leveraging technology to address challenges in high-rise construction management. The study concludes with insights on the generalizability of findings and recommendations for future research, emphasizing real-time monitoring integration

Selection of the best public fuel filling stations with analytical hierarchy process in Tangerang Regency

    No full text
Energy is one of the main factors in supporting mobility in activities. Gas Stations (SPBU) are one way that people can get energy. In its operations, gas stations must be able to provide the best service to consumers so that maintaining consumer loyalty. This study aims to be able to choose the best Gas Stations (SPBU) with Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. The criteria used are based on previous research and based on the results of expert analysis so that the selected criteria are used as a model in decision making, namely management, sales, services, facilities and variations of fuel products. For alternatives to be evaluated are 5 gas stations located in the Legok area, Tangerang, Banten. Based on the calculation of the pairwise criterion comparison matrix in the AHP method, eigenvalues are obtained to perform consistency tests. after processing and analysis, it is known that the highest criterion is service and the lowest is sales. And alternative calculation results obtained that the gas station 5 is the best alternative chosen

Pelatihan Minimasi Waste dengan Lean Manufacturing pada PT. Ganding Toolsindo

    Get PDF
PT.

Analysis of Mark UP value decisions with a bidding strategy model to win projects in government auctions

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to create a bidding strategy to determine the optimum markup value and maximum expected profit to win a project auction. From the data selection results, 24 project tenders and 12 large qualification companies participated in the tender on the LPSE page of the Ministry of PUPR, which will be used as samples in this study. The bid strategy model used to calculate the optimum markup value and maximum expected profit are with 3 (three) bid strategy models, namely the Friedman Model, Gates Model and Ackoff & Sasieni Model, and to calculate the probability of winning using the statistical approach method of multi discrete distribution, normal multi-distribution and single normal distribution. From the results of testing models with optimal mark-ups for the 24 project tenders used in this study, the percentage for each bidding strategy model that has the potential to win the tender sequentially is the Friedman model by 80.56%, the Gates model by 61.11% and the Ackoff &; Sasieni model by 43.06%. So, it can be concluded that the Friedman model provides a fairly high chance of winning tenders in government projects within the Ministry of PUPR
