    Skipjack (Katsuwonus pelamis) belongs to a large pelagic fish, which is one of the leading commodity in North Sulawesi fishery sector. The fishing gear which is specifically intended for catching skipjack is pole and line; that has been used by fishermen of North Sulawesi before the second world war. But it does not have high competitiveness compared to other Asean countries, because the production process is not fully efficient yet. Therefore, this study aims to monitor the trend and productivity of pole and liner based in Bitung Oceanic Fishing Port (OFP) with used descriptive method; Secondary data was collected by recording information at Bitung OFP and related institutions, in the form of catch data, statistical reports and annual reports, as well as relevant literature review.  Trend of pole and liner catch were analyzed by linear trend method through least square approach; While the productivity of the vessel is analyzed by comparing the catch and tonnage of the vessel. The main target of pole and liner is skipjack, but caught also yellowfin tuna and other species; with total catches ranging from 3,730.46 tons to 14,253.98 tons per year; and there are increasing trend. Estimated production of skipjack that will be landed at Bitung OFP in 2017 is amounted to 6,988.49 tons and yellowfin tuna 2,188.76 tons. While skipjack in 2018 amounted to 8,475.89 tons and yellowfin tuna of 2861.58 tons.Pole and liner are considered productive on average per year by 62% while the unproductive at 38%.Keywords: Pole and liner, Monitoring Trend and Productivity, skipjack, yellowfin tunaABSTRAKIkan cakalang (Katsuwonus pelamis) tergolong ikan pelagis besar, yang merupakan salah satu komoditi unggulan di sektor perikanan Sulawesi Utara. Alat tangkap yang digunakan untuk menangkap ikan cakalang adalah huhate;  telah digunakan oleh nelayan Sulawesi Utara sebelum perang dunia kedua. Namun belum memiliki daya saing yang tinggi dibandingkan dengan negara Asean lainnya, karena proses produksi belum sepenuhnya efisien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memonitoring trend dan produktivitas kapal huhate yang berpangkalan di Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera (PPS) Bitung dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif; data sekunder dikumpulkan dengan cara mencatat informasi di PPS Bitung dan instansi terkait, berupa data hasil tangkapan, laporan statistik dan laporan tahunan, serta telaah pustaka yang relevan. Tren tangkapan kapal huhate dianalisis dengan metode tren linier melalui pendekatan least square; sedangkan produktivitas kapal dianalisis dengan membandingkan hasil tangkapan dan tonase kapal Target utama kapal huhate adalah ikan cakalang, tetapi  tertangkap juga madidihang dan jenis lain; dengan jumlah tangkapan berkisar antara  3.730,46 ton - 14.253,98 ton per tahun; dan kecenderungan meningkat. Perkiraan produksi cakalang yang akan didaratkan di PPS Bitung untuk tahun 2017 adalah sebesar 6.988,49 ton dan madidihang 2.188,76 ton. Sedangkan cakalang untuk 2018 sebesar 8.475,89 ton dan madidihang sebesar 2.861,58 ton.Kapal huhate yang dinilai produktif, rata-rata per tahun sebesar 62%  sedangkan yang tidak produktif sebesar 38%.Kata kunci: Kapal huhate, Monitoring Tren dan Produktivitas, Cakalang, Madidihan

    Studi kasus ketaatan nelayan soma pajeko yang berpangkalan di PPI Amurang terhadap tempat mendaratkan hasil tangkapan

    Pangkalan Pendaratan Ikan merupakan tempat para nelayan mendaratkan ikan hasil tangkapannya. Dalam UU Nomor 45 Tahun 2009 tentang Perikanan, Pasal 41 ayat 3 menegaskan bahwa“Setiap kapal penangkap ikan dan kapal pengangkut ikan harus mendaratkan ikan tangkapan di pelabuhan perikanan yang ditetapkan atau pelabuhan lainnya yang ditunjuk†Tetapi banyak nelayan Amurang yang tidak patuh terhadap aturan tersebut dengan melakukan bongkar muat atau pendaratan ikan dipesisir pantai yang tidak sesuai dengan pelabuhan yang tercantum dalam SIPI. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat ketaatan nelayan PPI Amurang dalam mendaratkan hasil tangkapan, serta penyebab dan akibat yang ditimbulkan dari aktivitas bongkar muat yang tidak dilakukan pada tempat yang semestinya.Penelitian ini dikerjakan dengan mengikuti metode deskriptif yang meneliti suatu metode didasarkan pada studi kasus. Pengambilan data juga dilakukan melalui survei dengan menyebarkan kuisioner dan wawancara di lokasi penelitian. Hasil Penelitian menujukan ketaatan nelayan Amurang berada dalam tingkat yang kurang taat, Penyebab Nelayan Amurang tidak mendaratkankan hasil ikan hasil tangkapan sesuai dengan SIPI karena dianggap lebih cepat melakukan pemasaran dan dekat dengan permukiman nelayan, dan juga fasilitas yang ada di PPI dianggap kurang maksimal. Akibat yang ditimbulkan berupa kurangnya retribusi dan mengakibatkan banyak sampah plastik serta bau menyengat di kawasan pengembangan pariwisata di Pesisir Boulevard Amurang. Diharapkan kepada pihak-pihak yang terkait untuk meningkatkan kesadaran nelayan dalam hal pendaratan hasil tangkapan

    Pole and line, an environmentally friendly fishing gear is important to support people's living needs. Many tools and materials are found as a result of technologi cal advances, but the teknology can be detrimental if not handled properly. In a fishery business, if less careful in the care and work resulting souls become victims, accidents do not happen by itself but there is a cause.  This study aims to analyze the application of study on health and safety, to know the availability and maintenance system of health and safety tools. This study used case study method, took 5 ships randomly as sample and data source, both qualitative and quantitative. Processed in tables, and compare the availability of health and safety in each vessel according to the regulation of the safety of life at sea (SOLAS).  Occupational safety equipment (A) is almost available on all ships. The buoy equipment (B) is also almost available on all ships except life raft only on 3 ships. Communication equipment (C) HF radio and state flags are available on all ships, while signal flag are only on 3 boats, firefighters (D) are available on all ships. hose, pump, hydrant and nozle are not available.In general, the application of study on health and safety on pole and line ship has not fulfilled SOLAS requirement.Keywords: health, safety,  pole and liner. ABSTRAKPole and line alat tangkap ramah lingkungan penting menunjang kebutuhan hidup masyarakat. Banyak alat dan bahan ditemukan sebagai hasil kemajuan teknologi, tapi kemajuan dapat merugikan bila tidak ditangani dengan baik. Pada usaha perikanan, jika kurang teliti dalam perawatan dan pekerjaannya mengakibatkan jiwa menjadi korban, kecelakaan tidak terjadi dengan sendirinya tetapi ada penyebabnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisa penerapan kesehatan dan keselamatan, mengetahui ketersediaan dan sistem pemeliharaan alat kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studikasus,mengambil5 kapal secara acak sebagai sampel dan sumber data, baik kualitatif maupun kuantitatif. Diolah dalam tabel, dan dianalisis membandingkan ketersediaan kesehatan dan keselamatan dari masing-masing kapal sesuai ketentuan safety of life at sea (SOLAS).  Alat keselamatan kerja (A) hampir tersedia di semua kapal, Peralatan pelambung (B) juga hampir tersedia di semua kapal. Untuk life raft hanya di 3 kapal. Peralatan komunikasi (C) HF radio dan bendera negara tersedia di semua kapal, sedangkan bendera isyarat hanya di 3 kapal, pemadam kebakaran (D) tersedia di semua kapal, sedangankan selang, pompa,  hidran dan nozle tidak tersedia. Secara umum penerapan kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja di kapal pole and line belum memenuhi peryaratan SOLAS.Kata-kata kunci: kesehatan, keselamatan, pole and liner

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
