SH-BPEL - A Self-Healing plug-in for Ws-BPEL engines
No full textSelf-Healing is an emerging exigence for Information Systems where processes are more and more complicated and where many autonomous actors are involved. Self-healing mechanisms can be viewed as a set of automatic recovery actions fired at run-time according to the detected fault. These actions can be at infrastructure level (i.e., transparentl to the process), or they can be defined in the workflow model and executed by the workflow engine. Standard recovery mechanisms provided by Ws-BPEL are not enough to implement with reasonable effort lots of suitable recovery actions. The aim of this paper is to present a Self-Healing plug-in for a Ws-BPEL engine that enhances the ability of a standard engine to provide process-based recovery actions
Morphine withdrawal increases metabotropic glutamate 2/3 receptors expression in nucleus accumbens
No full textWe examined the effects of chronic morphine treatment and withdrawal on the expression of metabotropic glutamate (mGlu)1, mGlu5, and mGlu2/3 receptors in the nucleus accumbens and caudate putamen. Rats received a 14-day morphine treatment (escalating doses from 10 to 140 mg/kg). Receptor density was evaluated after chronic treatment and after 1, 3, and 14 days of withdrawal. mGlu1 and mGlu5 expression in the nucleus accumbens and in the caudate putamen was not affected by any of the experimental manipulations. In contrast, mGlu2/3 receptors in the nucleus accumbens, but not in the caudate putamen, increased at day 1, 3, and 14 of withdrawal. We suggest that an increased expression of mGlu2/3 receptors in the nucleus accumbens might contribute to the symptoms of morphine withdrawal

No full textThe proposed social media crisis mapping platform for natural disasters uses locations from gazetteer, street map, and volunteered geographic information (VGI) sources for areas at risk of disaster and matches them to geoparsed real-time tweet data streams. The authors use statistical analysis to generate real-time crisis maps. Geoparsing results are benchmarked against existing published work and evaluated across multilingual datasets. Two case studies compare five-day tweet crisis maps to official post-event impact assessment from the US National Geospatial Agency (NGA), compiled from verified satellite and aerial imagery sources

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Get PDFWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
