A K-teoria algébrica é um ramo da álgebra que associa para cada anel com unidade R, uma sequência de grupos abelianos chamados os n-ésimos K-grupos de R. Em 1970, Daniel Quillen dá uma definição geral dos K-grupos de um anel qualquer R a partir da +-construção do espaço classificante BGL(R). Por outro lado, considerando R um anel comutativo, obtém-se também a definição dos K-grupos de Milnor KMn (R). Usando o produto dos K-grupos de Quillen e Milnor e suas estruturas anti-comutativas, definimos o seguinte homomorfismo tn : KMn (R) → Kn(R): Mostraremos nesta dissertação que se R é um anel local com ideal maximal m tal que R / m é um corpo infinito, então esse homomorfismo é um isomorfismo para 0 ≤ n ≤ 2. Em geral tn nem sempre é injetor ou sobrejetor. Por exemplo quando n = 3, sabe-se que t3 não é sobrejetor e definimos a parte indecomponível de K3(R) como sendo o grupo Kind3 (R) := coker (KM3 (R) → t3 K3(R)). Usando alguns resultados de homologia dos grupos lineares, nesta dissertação mostraremos a existência da sequência exata de Bloch-Wigner para corpos infinitos. Esta sequência dá uma descrição explícita da parte indecomponível do terceiro K-grupo de um corpo infinito. TEOREMA (Sequência exata de Bloch-Wigner). Seja F um corpo infinito e seja p(F) o grupo de pre-Bloch de F, isto é, o grupo quociente do grupo abeliano livre gerado pelos símbolos [a], a ∈ F×, pelo subgrupo gerado por elementos da forma [a] - [b] + [b/a] - [1-a-1 /1-b-1] + [1-a /1-b] com a, b ∈ F× - {1}, a /= b. Então temos a sequência exata TorZ1 (μ (F), μ (F)) ~ → Kind3 (F) → p(F) → (F× ⊗ ZFx)σ F×)σ → K2(F) → 0 onde (F× ⊗ ZF×)σ := (F×; ⊗ ZF×)/ e TorZ1 (μ (F); μ (F)) ~ é a única extensão não trivial de Z=2Z por TorZ1 (μ (F); μ (F)) se char(F) ≠ 2 e μ 2 ∞ (F) é finito e é TorZ1 (μ (F); μ (F)) caso contrário. O homomorfismo p(F) → (F× ⊗ ZF×) σ é definido por [a] → a ⊗ (1-a). O estudo da sequência exata de Bloch-Wigner é justificada pela relação entre o segundo e terceiro K-grupo de um corpo F.The algebraic K-theory is a branch of algebra that associates to any ring with unit R a sequence of abelian groups called n-th K-groups of R. In 1970, Daniel Quillen gave a general definition of K-groups of any ring R using the +-construction of the classifying space BGL(R). On the other hand, if we consider a commutative ring R, we can define the Milnors K-groups, KMn (R), of R. Using the product of the Quillen and Milnors K-groups and their anti-commutative structure, we define a natural homomorphism tn : KMn (R) → Kn(R): In this dissertation, we show that if R is a local ring with maximal ideal m such that R=m is infinite, then this map is an isomorphism for 0<= n<= 2. But in general tn is not injective nor is surjective. For example when n = 3, we know that t3 is not surjective and define the indecomposable part of K3(R) as the group Kind3 (R) := coker (KM3 (R) → t3 K3(R)). Using some results about the homology of linear groups, in this dissertation we will prove the Bloch-Wigner exact sequence over infinite fields. This exact sequence gives us a precise description of the indecomposable part of the third K-group of an infinite field. THEOREM (Bloch-Wigner exact sequence). Let F be an infinite field and let p(F) be the pre-Bloch group of F, that is, the quotient group of the free abelian group generated by symbols [a], a ∈ F× - [1}, by the subgroup generated by the elements of the form [a][b]+ b/a][ 1-a-1/1-b-1]+ [1-a/1-b] with a; b ∈ F×, a =/ b. Then we have the exact sequence TorZ1 (μ (F), μ (F)) ~ → Kind3 (F) → p(F) → (F× ⊗ ZF×)$sigma; → K2(F) → 0 where (F× ⊗ ZF×)σ := (F× ⊗ ZF×) / a &38855; b +b ⊗ a | a; b ∈ F× and TorZ1(μ(F);μ(F)) is the unique non trivial extension of Z=2Z by TorZ1 (μ (F); μ (F)) if char(F) =/ 2 and μ2 ∞ is finite and is TorZ1 (μ (F);μ (F)) otherwise. The homomorphism p(F) → (F×ZF×)%sigma; is defined by [a] → a ⊗ (1-a). As it is shown, the study of the Bloch-Wigner exact sequence is also justified by the relation between the second and third K-group of a field F

    Neste trabalho,nos apresentamos a K-teoria algébrica a qual é um ramo da álgebra que associa para cada anel comutativo comunidade R, uma sequencia de grupos abelianos ditos de n-ésimos K-grupos do anel R, denotada por Kn(R) . A meados da década de 1950,Alexander Grothendieck da a definição do K0(R) de um anel R. Em 1962, Hyman Bass e Stephen Schanuel apresenta a primeira definição adequada do K1(R) de um anel R. Em 1970, Daniel Quillen da uma definição geral dos K-grupos de um anel R a partir da +- construção do espaço classificante BGL(R). Nosso interesse é o estudo dos K-grupos sobre o anel de inteiros OF sobre um corpo numérico F. Usando alguns resultados de homologia dos grupos lineares, neste trabalho daremos a definição do mapa regulador de Borel.In this paper,we present the algebraic K-theory,which is a branch of algebra that associates to any ring with unit R a sequence of abelian groups called n-th K-groups of R, denoted by Kn(R). Os grupos de homologia (e cohomologia) associados a um grupo são invariantes algébricos importantes do grupo. Infelizmente, em muitos casos importantes, esses grupos são muito complicados para serem calculados explicitamente. Devido a isso, os resultados que permitem comparar os grupos de (co)homologia para grupos diferentes tornam-se muito importantes. O interesse neste problema vem da K-teoria algébrica e do estudo dos K-grupos associados num anel, devido à existência de vários tipos de extensões centrais universais na K-teoria algébrica. Nesta tese, estudamos tais homomorfismos para os terceiros grupos de homologia de uma extensão central perfeita. Uma extensão central A → G → Q é chamada de perfeita se G é um grupo perfeito, ou seja, se G = [G, G]. Mais especificamente, estudamos os homomorfismos H3(A,Z) → H3(G,Z) e H3(G,Z) → H3(Q,Z), desde que A ⊆ G\'. Mostramos que se A é um subgrupo central de um grupo G tal que A ⊆ G\', por exemplo se G é um grupo perfeito, então a imagem do homomorfismo H3(A,Z) → H3(G,Z) / ρ* (A ⊗Z H2(G,Z)) é 2-torção, onde ρ : A x G → G é o produto usual. Em particular, se A → G → Q é uma extensão central universal, então a imagem de H3(A,Z) em H3</sub (G,Z) é 2-torção. Além disso, se A → G → Q é uma extensão central perfeita, tal que K(Q;1)+, a construção soma do espaço classificante de Q, é um H-espaço, então mostramos a existência da sequência exata A / 2 → H3(G,Z) / ρ* (A ⊗Z H2(G,Z) → H3(Q,Z) → 0. Nessas hipóteses, mostramos que o homomorfismo H3(A,Z) → H3(G,Z) / ρ* (A ⊗z H2(G,Z)) é trivial. Em particular, se a extensão central for universal, então a imagem de H3(A,Z) em H3(G,Z) também é trivial. Finalmente, mostramos a existência de um homomorfismo natural φ : H1(∑ε2, Tor1Z (2∞A, 2∞A)) → H3(G,Z) /ρ* (A ⊗Z H2(G,Z)) tal que a imagem de φ coincide com a imagem de H3(A,Z) em H3(G,Z) / ρ* (A ⊗Z H2(G,Z)), onde 2∞A é o subgrupo de torção de potências de 2 em A, ∑2:{id, σε} é o grupo simétrico com dois elementos e σε sendo a involução em Tor1Z(2∞A, 2∞A) induzida pela involução A x A → A x A, (a,b) → (b;a).The homology (and cohomology) groups associated to a group G are important algebraic invariants of G. Unfortunately, in many important cases these (co)homology groups are too complicated to be computed explicitly. Therefore in many cases results allowing to compare the homology groups for different groups become quite important. The interest to this problem comes from algebraic K-theory and the study of K-groups of a ring where various type of universal central extensions appears. Here, we also study such homomorphism for the third homology groups of a perfect central extension. A central extension A → G → Q is called perfect if G is a perfect group, i.e. if G = [G,G]. Here we study the maps H3(A,Z) → H3(G,Z) and H3(G,Z) → H3(Q,Z) for such extensions provided that A ⊆ G\'0. In this thesis, we show that if A is a central subgroup of a group G such that A ⊆ G\' e.g. when G is a perfect group, then the image of the natural map H3(A,Z) → H3(G,Z) / ρ*(A⊗Z H2(G,Z)) is 2-torsion, where ρ : A x G → G is the usual product map. In particular if A → G → Q is a universal central extension, then the image of H3(A,,Z) in H3(G, ,Z) is 2-torsion. Furthermore, if A → G → Q is a perfect central extension such that K(Q;1)+, the plusconstruction of the classifying space of Q, is an H-space, then we prove that there is the exact sequence A / 2 → H3(G,Z) / ρ*(A⊗Z H2(G,Z)) → H3(Q;Z) → 0. Moreover, we prove that with this extra condition, the map H3(A,Z) → H3(G;Z) / ρ*(A⊗Z H2(G,Z)) is trivial. In particular, if the extension is universal then the image of H3(A,Z) in H3(G,Z) is trivial. Finally, we show that there is a natural map φ : H1(∑ε2, Tor1Z (2∞A, 2∞A)) → H3(G,Z) / ρ*(A*otimes;Z H2 (G,Z)) such that the image of φ coincides with the natural image of H3(A,Z) in H3(G,Z) / ρ*(A⊗Z H2(G,Z)), where 2∞A is the 2-power torsion subgroup of A, ∑2 := {id; σε is the symmetric group with two elements and σε being the involution on Tor1Z (2∞A, 2∞) induced by the involution A x A → A x A, → (a,b) → (b,a)

    The main goal of this work is to study the third integer homology of the special linear group H3(SL2(A);Z) for a commutative ring A and its relationship with the refined scissors congruence group R P1(A) (BLOCH, 2000), (HUTCHINSON, 2013a), (CORONADO; HUTCHINSON, ). An important tool to study the third homology of SL2 is the existence of a refined Bloch-Wigner exact sequence. In this thesis we show that there exist a refined Bloch-Wigner exact sequence over local domains of characteristic 2. In fact, we show that if char(A) = 2, then there exists an exact sequence 0 → Tor(μ(A);μ(A)) → H3(SL2(A);Z) → R B(A) → 0; where R B(A) ⊆ R P1(A) is the refined Bloch group of A. Moreover, we show that if A is a local domain such that -1 is an square, then there exists an exact sequence H3(SM2(A);Z) → H3(SL2(A);Z) → R B(A) → 0; where SM2(A) is the group of monomial matrices in SL2(A). The results of this thesis can be found in (MIRZAII; PÉREZ, a), (MIRZAII; PÉREZ, b).O objetivo principal deste trabalho é estudar a terceira homologia inteira do grupo especial linear SL2(A) para um anel comutativo A e a sua relação com o grupo de congruência de tesoura R P1(A) (BLOCH, 2000), (HUTCHINSON, 2013a), (CORONADO; HUTCHINSON, ). Uma ferramenta importante para estudar a terceira homologia de SL2 é a existência de uma sequência exata refinada de Bloch-Wigner. Nesta tese mostramos que existe uma sequência exata refinada de Bloch-Wigner sobre domínios locais de característica 2. Na verdade, mostramos que se char(A) = 2, então existe uma sequencia exata 0 → Tor(μ(A);μ(A)) → H3(SL2(A);Z) → R B(A) → 0; onde R B(A) ⊆ R P1(A) é o grupo refinado de Bloch de A. Além disso mostramos que se A é um domínio local tal que -1 é um quadrado, então existe uma sequência exata da forma H3(SM2(A);Z) → H3(SL2(A);Z) → R B(A) → 0; onde SM2(A) é o grupo de matrizes monomiais em SL2(A). Third homology of 'SL IND.2' and the indecomposable'K IND.3'

    It is known that, for an infinite field F, the indecomposable part of 'K IND. 3' (F) and the third homology of S 'L IND. 2 '(F) are closely related. In fact, there is a canonical map α : 'H IND. 3' '(S 'L IND. 2'(F), Z) IND. 'F POT. ∗'' → 'K IND. 3' '(F) POT. IND'. Suslin has raised the question: Is α an isomorphism? Recently Hutchinson and Tao have shown that this map is surjective. In this article, we show that α is bijective if and only if the natural maps 'H IND. 3' (G 'L IND. 2' (F),Z) → 'H IND. 3'(G 'L IND. 3' (F),Z) and 'H IND. 3' '(S 'L IND. 2' (F),Z) IND. 'F POT. ∗'' → 'H IND. 3' (G 'L IND. 2' (F),Z) are injective

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
