Internet voting: an international comparison Abstract This Master's thesis with the topic Internet Voting: International Comparison has the main goal of assessing whether and to what extent the generally known and stated advantages and risks of Internet voting are reflected in reality in countries that have already introduced this method. In other words, are these countries and their inhabitants struggling with problems such as transparency, secrecy and security of Internet elections, or on the contrary, has Internet voting simplified access to elections and increased voter turnout? To achieve the set goal, the method of case study is used primarily on the two largest representatives of this type of voting - Estonia and Switzerland. However, the thesis also marginally deals with other countries where the system has not yet fully taken off, or reasons for its termination have emerged. These include, for example, Canada, Australia, the Philippines and so on. The work is divided into several parts. In the first part, the author introduces the reader to the basic institutions and issues related to the topic of Internet voting. At the same time, he briefly discusses some of the mentioned countries that have at least partially introduced Internet voting. The second part outlines the advantages and disadvantages..

Jde například o Kanadu, Austrálii, Filipíny a podobně. V třetí části autor detailně rozebírá systém v Estonsku a analyzuje výskyt a projevy...Katedra ústavního právaDepartment of Constitutional LawFaculty of LawPrávnická fakult

Application for creating guitar songbooks from songs available on the web

Výsledný zpěvník lze uložit v několika formátech, především ve formátu PDF.The guitar songbook is a list of song lyrics with chords. Most guitarists create their own songbooks, and the existing programs for guitar songbook creation may not cover most of the features that the user expects from them. In this work we are focusing on design and implementation of a new application for guitar songbook creation. The application differs from others in that it allows you to add songs available on the Internet to the songbook. Songs from websites are added to the songbook using the web scraping technique. Other functions of the application are for example editing existing songs, saving the songbook for later editing or adding your own songs to the songbook. The resulting songbook can be saved in several formats, especially in PDF format.Department of Distributed and Dependable SystemsKatedra distribuovaných a spolehlivých systémůMatematicko-fyzikální fakultaFaculty of Mathematics and Physic

Variational Neural Network Quantum States for Frustrated Magnetic Systems

We investigate the Shastry-Sutherland model (SSM), i.e., spin-1/2 quantum Heisen- berg model on a Shastry-Sutherland lattice, using a newly emerging approach exploiting well-developed machine learning techniques. We utilize neural networks as variational quantum states in quantum Monte Carlo investigations of the ground state properties. We first focus on SSM without an external magnetic field. For small lattices accessible via exact diagonalization, we compare the precision of various architectures based on re- stricted Boltzmann machines (RBM) or group-convolutional neural networks. The most versatile and precise architecture, namely complex-valued RBM, is then applied for larger lattices. Here we investigate the frustrated regime. We show that the RBM is able to represent all three of the major and fundamentally different phases of SSM. Finally, we apply the complex-valued RBM for SSM in a finite external magnetic field. We find that it cannot capture the intriguing steps in magnetization typical for SSM correctly due to its tendency to prefer more ordered states with higher magnetization.

Dynamical perturbations of triple stellar and planetary systems seen in gravitational waves with LISA

We study gravitational waves from a binary system that is perturbed by the presence of a distant third body. We present three representative models of the hierarchical triple system and we numerically model the gravitational waveform. The motion of the bodies is simulated in the Newtonian approximation on a long timescale so that Lidov-Kozai oscillation can occur. This oscillation causes periodic exchange between relative incli- nation and eccentricity of the inner binary. We analyze the frequency spectrum of the waveform and identify the effect of perturbations on a timescale similar to the binary orbital period Tin, perturbations related to the orbital period of the third body Tout, and Lidov-Kozai cycles with an approximate period T2 out/Tin. It is expected that the upcoming space detector LISA (Laser Interferometer Space Antenna) will be able to detect these gravitational signals and it will be possible to derive information about the triple system from the waveform.

Neuronové sítě používáme jako variační kvantové stavy a v kvantových Monte Carlo simulacích zkoumáme vlastnosti základního stavu. 1Department of Condensed Matter PhysicsKatedra fyziky kondenzovaných látekMatematicko-fyzikální fakultaFaculty of Mathematics and Physic

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
