No full textParenting a child with a rare genetic disorder has special difficulties, because diagnosis may be delayed or undetermined, support groups may be small and geographically scattered, and healthcare skills and resources limited. Ectodermal dysplasia (ED) is a lifelimiting condition of the central and peripheral nervous systems. It is associated with significant infant morbidity and mortality, with risks greatest in the first two years of life. For parents caring for a child with ED, this period is often a time of stress and uncertainty. Currently, there is a dearth of literature which reports on the experiences and support needs of parents caring for a child with ED. The aim of this chapter was to provide an in-depth account of the experiences and supportive care needs of parents caring for a child with ED. Methods: A mixed methods design was employed which used focus group data to aid in the development of an internationally distributed internet survey. Results: 126 parents from 14 countries responded to the survey. Five themes were identified; the need for early diagnosis, breastfeeding difficulties in mother carriers with ED, parental decision making, relational impacts and social support issues. Discussion: To our knowledge, this is the first study which identified and examined the experiences and support needs of parents within this rare genetic disorder. Further research into the areas outlined in this study is warranted to expand the knowledge and awareness gaps

The prevalence of mood, anxiety, substance use and other psychiatric disorders among adolescents is high. However, medical professionals are not sufficiently trained about adolescent psychiatric disorders. Primary care providers correctly identify less than a fourth of youth with a depressive or anxiety disorder and many clinicians underestimate the importance of the problem of adolescent psychiatric illnesses and suicidal behavior. Multiple clinical, neurobiological, cultural and legal aspects of psychiatric disorders in adolescents are discussed in this book

Boko Haram is the most dangerous terrorist group in Nigeria, the actions of which have led to the injury and/or death of many people. This group evolved from a non-violent nuisance group to a brutal, cruel, and savage one. Boko Haram's activities have had and still have negative, destructive, and devastating effects on different aspects of Nigeria's economy. The impact of Boko Haram's terrorism on security, health, finance, tourism, and education in Nigeria and its people is the topic of focus in this book. Furthermore, the Boko Haram sect is a leading group that breaches the rights of children. It is common knowledge that the children are the future of any nation, and they need to be trained properly for a promising future. Ultimately, the individuals or groups breaching the rights of children need to be punished appropriately, for a better and glorious future for the children of Nigeria
