Neural-Network Based Approach for Real-Time Control of BMEP and MFB50 in a Euro 6 Diesel Engine
A real-time approach has been developed and assessed to control BMEP (brake mean effective pressure) and MFB50 (crank angle at which 50% of fuel mass has burnt) in a Euro 6 1.6L GM diesel engine. The approach is based on the use of feed-forward ANNs (artificial neural networks), which have been trained using virtual tests simulated by a previously developed low-throughput physical engine model. The latter is capable of predicting the heat release and the in-cylinder pressure, as well as the related metrics (MFB50, IMEP - indicated mean effective pressure) on the basis of an improved version of the accumulated fuel mass approach. BMEP is obtained from IMEP taking into account friction losses. The low-throughput physical model does not require high calibration effort and is also suitable for control-oriented applications. However, control tasks characterized by stricter demands in terms of computational time may require a modeling approach characterized by a further lower throughput. To this aim, feed-forward NNs have been trained to predict MFB50 and BMEP using a large dataset of virtual tests generated by the well-calibrated low-throughput physical engine model. The real-time approach has also been applied to derive the start of injection of the main pulse and the injected fuel quantity to achieve specific targets of MFB50 and BMEP. The accuracy of the real-time approach has been assessed based on experimental data taken at GM-GPS (General Motors - Global Propulsion Systems) facilities and its computational time has been compared to that of the low-throughput physical engine model, at steady-state and transient conditions over the WLTP cycle. The crystal structure of panunzite (natural tetrakalsilite)
The crystal structure of the feldspathoid panunzite (natural tetrakalsilite) was solved and refined to an R index value of 0.078, for 1753 independent reflections collected with Zr-filtered MoK-alpha radiation. Panunzite is hexagonal, space group P63, with a = 20.496(5), c = 8.549(3) Å. The crystal structure is a stuffed derivative of tridymite, and is characterized by six-membered tetrahedral rings, which are present in oval, ditrigonal and nearly hexagonal conformations. The rings are built up by regularly alternating SiO4 and AlO4 tetrahedra. In the cavities of the framework sodium and potassium cations find location. Some analogies between panunzite and nepheline frameworks were observed
Tra metodo e merito. Osservazioni a margine del (fallito) processo riformatore della XVII legislatura dell’Italia repubblicana
The article reconstructs some delicate issues related to the attempt of constitutional reform that has occurred in Italy during the current legislature. Considering the rejection of the project, the author will highlight some aspects that are mainly methodological but that also have repercussions on the form of the institutions that the legislator has tried to affect. The work is structured in three parts. In the first, the author reconstructs some critical aspects of the framework in which the reform has been attempted, which has affected the way in which the latter has been carried out. In the second, the paper discusses the overall sense of the proposed actions, aimed at triggering a majority-personal dynamic in the framework of the Italian parliamentary system (also through important changes in the electoral legislation). In the third, the work identifies the limits of the construction delineated, in the light of the characteristics of the political context in which the same should have been implemented, and recovering analytical insights from comparative experiences. The main idea that emerges from the study is that the approach to the reforms adopted in Italy (today as in the past) relies too much on regulatory automatisms aimed at governability, disregarding the actions that should lead instead towards the development of the political culture of the actors, making the representative dynamics more fluid
Sulla critica del concetto di secolarizzazione e il metodo della "Umbesetzung". Hans Blumenberg e lo storicismo
The initial aim of the essay is to reconstruct Hans Blumenberg’s perspective on the concept of «secularization». The author made a radical critique of this concept, which he defined as a «category of historical injustice» denying the epochal dignity of the modern age and its autonomy. Against the use of this concept, Blumenberg sees the genesis of the modern age as the process of self-affirmation of modern rationality in response to the crisis of medieval theological doctrines. After this reconstruction, the essay analyzes Blumenberg’s conception of historical development, and in particular the position of the author on Historicism. The thesis this essay defends is that Blumenberg’s position on Historicism is ambiguous: if, on the one hand, it seems to reject any historicist hypothesis in the broad sense, Blumenberg elaborates, on the other hand, a theory of historical development and epochal successions
Agape: un concetto per le scienze sociali
The aim of this paper is to place in contemporary social theory the concept of agape. It is ancient for theological
research and, in some respects, philosophical, but unpublished for the social sciences, except for recent
work such as Luc Boltanski. The effort to define the concept of agape, trace the epistemological boundaries,
identify the size, distinguish the meanings and use it for the empirical analysis are the main points developed
by the wise. In this perspective, the author suggests that the agape makes us reconsider the deepest vocation of
the social sciences, namely, that in addition to the prospects of self-analysis, both reaffirmed the emancipatory
character of the discipline it, and then, the prospect of critical theory
Co-curing bonding of carbon fibre/epoxy composite joints with excellent structure integrity using carbon fibre/PEEK tapes
A novel co-curing process was proposed for the bonding of carbon fibre/epoxy composites by replacing traditional epoxy adhesives with carbon fibre/PEEK (CF/PEEK) tapes, with an attempt to improve the structure integrity. The lap-shear strengths, fatigue resistance and mode-I and mode-II fracture behaviour of the co-cured joints at 22 °C and 130 °C were investigated, and the failure mechanisms were also studied. The experimental results demonstrated that, by replacing an aerospace structural adhesive with surface-treated CF/PEEK tapes for the co-curing bonding of composite joints, the lap-shear strength of the joints had been increased by 47% and 68% at 22 °C and 130 °C, respectively; the fatigue life had been extended by 3.39 times; the mode-I fracture energy had been increased by 70% and 182% at 22 °C and 130 °C, respectively; and the mode-II fracture energy had been increased by 59% and 54% at 22 °C and 130 °C, respectively. An analysis on the failure surfaces of the tested specimens proved significant plastic deformation and breakage of the PEEK resin and extensive carbon fibre delamination being the main failure mechanisms of the CF/PEEK bonded joints. Overall, this study demonstrated a huge potential of replacing traditional film adhesives with CF/PEEK tapes for the co-curing bonding of aerospace composite joints with significantly enhanced structure integrity and thermal stability.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Structural Integrity & Composite
Corpus de relatos folclóricos de Gennaro Finamore
The aim of this study is to present the body of popular narratives collected by dialectologist and folklorist Gennaro Finamore from the oral tradition of his region, in a period ranging from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. To understand the reasons that led the author to devote himself to folkloric studies, some aspects of his biography, academic background, and early scientific research are highlighted. Compilations of popular narratives, publications on other genres of traditional literature, and studies focused exclusively on folkloric themes have been explored to present this corpus.
–The paper show how the symbolic interactionism study the poverty phenomena. The Author explain the concepts and the interpretative model of poverty of interactionist approach. It is defined by two dimensions: stigma and social giving. This model permits to interpret poverty in the comparative approach by defines four different types of poverty: crystallized, disadvantaged, tolerate and not relevant. The paper discuss the contributing of different sociologist as Simmel, Goffman, Matza, Waxman e Paugam that are fundamental to define the tradition of study and specific interactionist approach to study of poverty
