Reflexões sobre os equipamentos descartáveis como seringas e agulhas: um diálogo com a educação em saúde a partir dos resíduos gerados pelo portador de diabetes
No full textO presente trabalho busca contribuir para a educação em saúde perante o tratamento de indivíduos portadores de diabetes que necessitam de agulhas e seringas para medir a glicemia do sangue e administrar a insulina. Há necessidade da discussão sobre o cenário do manuseio, controle e descarte de produtos biológicos como equipamentos descartáveis (seringas e agulhas), visto o grande apelo na área de biossegurança. De fato, o tratamento do diabetes requer a utilização de agulhas e seringas por indivíduos para reduzir os agravos em tal tratamento de saúde. Assim, são discutidas informações necessárias em educação em saúde para os indivíduos portadores de diabetes e para os profissionais de saúde. A partir do panorama da presente discussão, o estudo tem como objetivo discutir a necessidade da educação em saúde com a finalidade de verificar ações de biossegurança voltadas para os elementos perfurocortantes utilizados por portadores de diabetes, isto é, agulhas e seringas, desenvolvendo um folder que seja claro e objetivo para transmitir informações aos indivíduos portadores de diabetes em relação à autoaplicação e conscientização dos riscos da reutilização e do descarte dos perfurocortantes em lixo doméstico. São explicitadas concepções sobre as técnicas de aplicação, considerando a necessidade de rodízio de aplicação da insulina no corpo e questões que podem ser evitadas, como a lipodistrofia. Conclui-se que as condutas de saúde referentes à reutilização e descarte precisam de adequação e que as informações precisam de unificação para os portadores de diabetes e profissionais de saúde.The present study aims to contribute to health education in the treatment of individuals with diabetes who need needles and syringes to verify their blood sugar and administrate insulin. There is a need for discussion about the scenario of handling, control and disposal of biological products as disposable devices (syringes and needles), given the great appeal in the
area of biosafety. In fact, the treatment of diabetes requires the use of needles and syringes by individuals to reduce ailments in such health treatment. Thus, necessary information is discussed in health education for individuals with diabetes and for health professionals. From the perspective of the present discussion, the present study aims to discuss the need for health education in order to verify biosafety actions directed at the sharp-cutting elements used by people with diabetes, that is, needles and syringes, developing one folder which is clear and objective to convey information to individuals with diabetes in relation to self-application and awareness of the risks of reusing and disposing sharps in household waste. Concepts about application techniques are explained, considering the need for rotation of insulin application in the body and avoidable issues, such as lipodystrophy. We conclude that health behaviors related to reuse and disposal need to be adjusted and that the information must be unified for persons presenting diabetes and for health professionals
