Physiological and sanitary quality of cowpea seeds [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.] submitted to chemical and biological treatments
No full textO tratamento de sementes constitui-se uma das medidas mais importantes no manejo integrado de doenças de plantas, sendo o tratamento com fungicidas a forma mais difundida para controle sanitário das sementes. No entanto, o uso desses produtos no tratamento das sementes nem sempre traz benefícios à qualidade fisiológica dependendo do tipo, dose e período que ficam armazenadas. No que se refere ao feijão-caupi, faltam informações sobre produtos e doses que podem ser utilizados no tratamento de sementes, por não existir produtos registrados. Foram utilizados dois lotes de sementes da cultivar ‘BRS Tumucumaque’. O trabalho contou com a realização de dois experimentos, no qual o primeiro teve por objetivo avaliar a qualidade fisiológica e sanitária de sementes de feijão-caupi tratadas com fungicidas químicos e biológico em diferentes doses, com a finalidade de determinar as concentrações mais adequadas para o tratamento das sementes. Os testes realizados para avaliação da qualidade fisiológica e sanitária das sementes foram: germinação, primeira contagem de germinação, emergência de plântulas, índice de velocidade de emergência, método de incubação em papel do filtro, método de incubação em meio BDA e incubação em rolo de papel para detecção de Colletotrichum. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado (DIC) com quatro repetições e 20 tratamentos, em esquema fatorial 4 x 5, cujos fatores foram quatro fungicidas (Pencicuron, Captana, Metalaxil-M + Fludioxonil e Trichoderma harzianum) e cinco doses (0, 1, 2, 3 e 4 mL.kg -1 de sementes). Já para o teste de frequência de fitopatógenos foram utilizados quatro repetições e 17 tratamentos, em esquema fatorial 4 x 4 +1, cujos fatores foram quatro fungicidas (Pencicuron, Captana, Metalaxil-M + Fludioxonil e Trichoderma harzianum), quatro doses (1, 2, 3 e 4 mL.kg -1 de sementes), além do controle (sem tratamento). Recomenda- se para o tratamento de sementes de feijão-caupi os fungicidas Captana e Metalaxil-M + Fludioxonil, nas concentrações de 250 a 310 mL.100 kg -1 de sementes, para ambos os lotes. No segundo experimento, objetivou-se analisar os efeitos dos tratamentos químicos e biológico sobre a qualidade fisiológica e sanitária de sementes de feijão-caupi durante o armazenamento. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualisado com quatro repetições, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, tendo nas parcelas os tratamentos fungicidas (quatro fungicidas + controle), e nas subparcelas os períodos de armazenamento (quatro tempos). Os tratamentos analisados na parcela foram os fungicidas Pencicuron, Captana, Metalaxil-M + Fludioxonil e Trichoderma harzianum, além do controle (sem tratamento). Na subparcela foram os quatro períodos de armazenamento 0, 90, 180 e 270 dias . Os testes realizados para avaliação da qualidade fisiológica e sanitária das sementes foram: grau de umidade, germinação, primeira contagem de germinação, emergência de plântulas, índice de velocidade de emergência, envelhecimento acelerado, comprimento de plântula, matéria seca de plântula, método de incubação em papel do filtro, método de incubação em meio BDA e incubação em rolo de papel para detecção de Colletotrichum. Recomenda-se para o tratamento de sementes de feijão-caupi a serem armazenadas os fungicidas Captana e Metalaxil-M + Fludioxonil. Palavras-chave: Tratamento de sementes. Fungicidas. Armazenamento.Seed treatment is one of the most important measures in the integrated management of plant diseases, with treatment with fungicides being the most widespread form for sanitary control of seeds. However, the use of these products in the treatment of seeds does not always bring benefits to physiological quality depending on the type, dose and period that they are stored. With regard to cowpea, information on products and doses that can be used in seed treatment is lacking, as there are no registered products. Two batches of seeds from the cultivar ‘BRS Tumucumaque’ were used. The work included two experiments, in which the first aimed to evaluate the physiological and health quality of cowpea seeds treated with chemical and biological fungicides in different doses, in order to determine the most appropriate concentrations for the seed treatment. The tests carried out to evaluate the physiological and sanitary quality of the seeds were: germination, first germination count, seedling emergence, emergency speed index, filter paper incubation method, incubation method in BDA medium and incubation in a paper for detection of Colletotrichum. The experimental design used was completely randomized (DIC) with four replications and 20 treatments, in a 4 x 5 factorial scheme, whose factors were four fungicides (Pencicuron, Captana, Metalaxil-M + Fludioxonil and Trichoderma harzianum) and five doses (0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 mL.kg -1 of seeds). For the phytopathogen frequency test, four replications and 17 treatments were used, in a 4 x 4 +1 factorial scheme, whose factors were four fungicides (Pencicuron, Captana, Metalaxil-M + Fludioxonil and Trichoderma harzianum), four doses (1, 2, 3 and 4 mL.kg -1 of seeds), in addition to control (without treatment). For the treatment of cowpea seeds, the fungicides Captana and Metalaxil-M + Fludioxonil are recommended, in concentrations of 250 to 310 mL.100kg -1 of seeds, for both batches. In the second experiment, the objective was to analyze the effects of chemical and biological treatments on the physiological and sanitary quality of cowpea seeds during storage. The experimental design used was completely randomized with four replications, in a split-plot scheme, with fungicide treatments (four fungicides + control) in the plots, and storage periods (four times) in the subplots. The treatments analyzed in the plot were the fungicides Pencicuron, Captana, Metalaxil-M + Fludioxonil and Trichoderma harzianum, in addition to the control (without treatment). In the subplot were the four storage periods 0, 90, 180 and 270 days. The tests carried out to evaluate the physiological and sanitary quality of the seeds were: degree of humidity, germination, first germination count, seedling emergence, emergence speed index, accelerated aging, seedling length, seedling dry matter, incubation method on filter paper, incubation method in BDA medium and paper roll incubation to detect Colletotrichum. It is recommended for the treatment of cowpea seeds to be stored the fungicides Captana and Metalaxil-M + Fludioxonil. Keywords: Seed treatment. Fungicides. Storage
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
