Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

Get PDFResumen: En la literatura disponible no se reportan métodos analíticos confiables que tengan en cuenta la dinámica de la relación entre los dientes vibradores de un cosechador de café y el follaje, lo que hace difícil que las especificaciones de diseño de los mecanismos inerciales puedan ser predeterminadas. Además, no se dispone de bases conceptuales a partir de las cuales se pueda diseñar dispositivos para impactar las ramas con el fin de desprender selectivamente los frutos maduros. Con el fin de generar conocimientos sobre la aplicación de agitadores de dientes al follaje conducentes a la cosecha selectiva del café, fue diseñado y construido en Cenicafe un prototipo experimental, de enganche excéntrico en un punto, para ser remolcado por un tractor de 21 HP de potencia y cuyo diseño ha sido concebido para ser transformado con autonomía propia cuando las evaluaciones de campo así lo determinen, posibilitando su trabajo como un "Cosechador vibrador autopropulsado" (COVAUTO), que permite aplicar vibraciones al follaje en condiciones de campo. EI equipo posee instrumentación telemétrica para el manejo de los datos que generen los sensores y transductores ubicados en el conjunto tractor-COVAUTO. Los resultados preliminares muestran que de las especificaciones técnicas evaluadas y medidas del COVAUTO comparadas con los tres modelos comerciales para la recolección del café disponibles en el mundo con el mismo principio de vibración (JACTO, AUSTOFT Y KORVAN), su peso, su ancho y altura de trabajo, su costo y su adecuada ingeniería, lo posibilitan técnica y económicamente para trabajar en importantes áreas cafeteras colombianas. EI equipo consta de: un sistema estructural rectangular tipo cercha (2m de ancho, 2m de alto y 3m de largo), soportada en cuatro lIantas; un motor diesel de 40 HP de potencia; un sistema de vibración compuesto por el conjunto de vibradores (masas excéntricas de peso variable entre 2 y 10 kg), los agitadores y los dedos o dientes vibradores accionados por el sistema hidráulico diseñado para el COVAUTO; un sistema de captura de granos compuesto por paletas en PVC y bandejas almacenadoras, situados en la parte inferior del vehículo; y el sistema de enganche diseñado para las posiciones de transporte y operación en el campo. La evaluación en condiciones de vacío para el conjunto tractor-COVAUTO en cuanto al rango teórico de operación del sistema, establece un rango de frecuencia de los agitadores entre 500 y 1000 rpm, un rango de velocidad de operación entre 0,5 y 5 km/h, amplitud de oscilación de los dientes para las diferentes masas definidas en el diseño entre 2 y 12 cm, potencia requerida en el rango de operación del sistema vibrador hasta 4HP/vibrador y la potencia requerida en la barra de tiro del COVAUTO para el rango de velocidad obtenido con el desplazamiento del conjunto entre 3 y 10 HP
Análisis de vibraciones de una junta cardánica acoplada entre tractor-implemento
No full textUn acelerómetro, como captador de vibraciones, fue colocado en dos posiciones estratégicas de la línea de transmisión de potencia por el toma de fuerza del tractor, con el fin de registrar las vibraciones en las tres direcciones ocasionados por cambio del ángulo de la junta cardánica desde una posición cero (junta cardánica horizontal) hasta una posición de 6° con respecto a la horizontal. De los análisis de los espectros de frecuencia de la señal registrada, se nota la existencia de una frecuencia de excitación de 18 Hz, correspondiente a la junta cardánica. Las magnitudes de los picos en los espectros de frecuencia fueron altamente significativos cuando la junta cardánica operó en ángulo. / Abstract: An accelerometer, and vibration sensor was placed on two strategic positions of power transmission line by the tractor PTO with the purpose of registering vibrations in three directions caused by changing the angle of the universal joint from a zero position (horizontal universal joint) to a position of 6 ° to the horizontal.
