À l'occasion du cinquantenaire de Sétif et Guelma, un livre de Boucif Mekhaled , intitulé Chronique d'un massacre sort aux éditions Syros, tandis qu'un film de Mehdi Lallaoui et Bernard Langlois, Les massacres de Sétif, un certain 8 mai 1945, sera diffusé sur Arte le 10 mai. No full textThis article puts fonvard arguments for the necessity of a historicist's view of Langlois and Seignobos 'book, which, in order to be understood, must be situated in the context of Social Sciences in full expansion at the close of the XIXth Century. The author discovers that this book, far from being a joyful manifesto of the historical method, is already in reality a reaction to the sociologists, a defence of and a state of tension over History's menaced identity. Besides the methodological principles classicly taught at the Ecole des Chartes and elsewhere, Seignobos has thus set out a system of attack (or rather defence) which must be given prominence amidst apparently academic discourse.Cet article argumente la nécessité d'une lecture historiciste du livre de Langlois et Seignobos qui, pour être compris, doit être situé dans le champ des sciences sociales en plein essor à la fin du XIXe siècle. On découvre alors que, loin d'être un manifeste joyeux de la méthode historique, ce livre est en réalité déjà une réaction face aux sociologues, une défense et une crispation sur l'identité menacée de la discipline historique. À côté des principes méthodologiques classiquement enseignés à l'École des Chartes et ailleurs, Seignobos a ainsi placé tout un système d'attaque (ou plutôt de défense) qu'il faut mettre en évidence au milieu du discours apparemment académique.Mucchielli Laurent. No full textCe texte répond à la note critique de Charles Castonguay concernant l’étude de Langlois, parue dans un numéro précédent de Recherches sociographiques (vol. XVI, no 2, 2000). Cette réponse remet en question la pertinence de la critique dans la mesure où celle-ci exagère grandement les intentions de l’étude, et en rappelle les véritables intentions, les objectifs et la portée. Ensuite, certaines difficultés d’ordre méthodologique, présentés par Castonguay (dans ce numéro) comme des lacunes majeures de l’étude, sont clarifiées. Enfin, l’auteur oppose à la pensée obsessive, réductrice et sans issue de son contradicteur sur l’assimilation irréductible des minorités francophones hors Québec, une vision porteuse d’avenir.This paper is a response to the criticism by Charles Castonguay concerning the study by Langlois, which appeared in a previous issue of Recherches sociographiques (vol. XVI, no 2, 2000). This response questions the relevance of the criticism, in that the latter greatly exaggerates the intentions of the study, and restates its true intentions, objectives and scope. Then, certain problems of a methodological nature, presented by Castonguay (in that issue) as major weaknesses of the study, are clarified. Finally, in opposition to the obsessive, reductionist, dead-end line of thinking of its contradictor regarding the irremediable assimilation of Francophone minorities outside of Québec, the author proposes a forward-looking vision

No full textInternational audienceMarcel Langlois (1871-1941), a priest from diocese of Chartres (France), is mainly associated with Catholic University of Paris, where he run the library from 1908 until his death. However, he remains faithful to his roots throughout his life. This article intends to account for its activity as local historian and scholar. Abbé Langlois is also librarian of learned society of the department and public librarian of Chartres. Noted author of a specialized bibliography, he devotes more than thirty publications to history and religious heritage of his home region. Finally, he is interested in local figures as Madame de Maintenon, morganatic wife of the "Sun King" Louis XIV.Le nom de Marcel Langlois (1871-1941), prêtre du diocèse de Chartres, est principalement attaché à l'Institut catholique de Paris où il a présidé aux destinées de la bibliothèque de 1908 à sa mort. Pourtant, il est resté durant toute sa vie fidèle à ses origines. Cet article entend rendre compte de son activité d’historien et d’érudit local mais aussi de bibliothécaire de la Société archéologique d’Eure-et-Loir comme de la ville de Chartres. Auteur remarqué d’une bibliographie départementale, il consacre plus d’une trentaine de publications à l'histoire et au patrimoine religieux du pays chartrain. L’abbé Langlois s’intéresse aussi aux personnalités locales et en premier lieu à Madame de Maintenon
