    Values of Islam as Religion: Challenges to Modernism for Present and Future

    This article attempts to find out the challenges of Islam dealing modernism from the standpoint of religious faith and values. Actually, the concept of modernism and incredible growth of materialism symbolize the faith and religion merely unscientific inculcating such mysterious and uncertain matters. Islam’s relationship as religion with the modernism, though it goes far into antiquity, has been overburdened with rivalries and marred by conflicts. But, certainly Islamic faith and other traditions are governed in the belief of oneness in God with being His all omnipotent and absolute powers that promulgate denoting challenges in the modern life of the world, particularly in the climax of modern scientific developments concerted by western world. The article also shed lights on the comprehensive analysis regarded the necessity of Islam with a view to reconstructing modernism as well as glorifying Islamic faith bearing out as only universal religious ideology in the world forever rather modernism or more than that.     Role of Zakat as a Tool of Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development: The Case of Bangladesh

    Despite different programs taken by various stakeholders in attempt to alleviate poverty, poverty is still one of the major concerns in policy level and a burning issue for the societies in Bangladesh. Whereas Islam sets down different policies and mechanisms to tackle this problem, Zakat is one of such foremost institutions. It has been declared as one of the five pillars of Islam, in the sense that it is a deed violation of which falls short of fulfilling the basic obligations prescribed by the religion. Zakat is a transfer of ownership of individual’s property to a person or group of persons under some specific conditions. So, the paper explores the developments and challenges to fulfill the potentials of   Zakat in the context of Bangladesh. Theoretical and empirical studies have been reviewed to the economic potential and the impact of Zakat in this study. Finally an analysis is shed light on some Zakat based socio-economic projects implemented by different institutions in    Bangladesh. The current study tries to establish Zakat as an indispensible ingredient of sustainable development plan along with poverty   alleviation in the country

    Role of Nawab Salimullah for the Foundation of AIML

    In this article an attempt has been made to remark upon the role of Nawab Salimullah for the foundation of All-Indian Muslim League that is the first and only national Muslim political party in the British India. The Nawab of Dhaka was one of the sole organizers of Muslim League. This article took an attempt to shed light on his number of successive political stances with appreciating contemporary nature of politics in India that eventually gravitated him towards forming of Muslim League. Firstly he launched modern regional politics favoring the partition of Bengal and founded a political association in Bengal, then stepped forward to organize a national political body for the Muslims in India. In this stage, Nawab took remarkable responsibilities like making approach to the Muslim people about urgency of political association, apprehending Hindu communal politics against Muslim, publication of Circular Letter, patronizing the Educational Conference at Dhaka, move for Resolution of AIML pertaining to establishment of League. All of these initiatives have been analyzed by an integrated study to find out the notable contributions of Nawab Salimullah towards forming AIML along with development of Muslim politics in India necessarily. The article also afforded Nawab’s other visionary relevant works in order to consolidate an advancement of Muslim League transcending banality and mendacity of everyday life in every arena fulfilling the desired dreams of the cornered Muslims.  Keywords: nature of politics, nature, political association, Muslim politics, partition of Bengal, Hindu communal politics, Circular Lette
