Does food public procurement boost food democracy? Theories and evidences from some case studies
No full textThe paper analyses some Italian virtuous experiences of Food Public Procurement, connecting them with the issue of food democracy. In particular, the first paragraphs provide an outline of the main challenges and distortions afflicting today's food systems, pointing out how and to what extent they are strictly tied to the problems of access to food and participation to food governance. In diets and food consumption behaviours, being them the main driver of the trajectories of food systems, rely the most part of the future of sustainability of agricultural productions and distribution. Food Public Procurement, defining features and quality of an impressive number of meals (18.5 billion per year in 15-member Europe), has the chance to drive and orient a large amount of the food productions towards more sustainable patterns. The results deriving from the critical examination of the four practices of Food Public Procurement in Italy, put into evidence the impacts in terms of parents participation, healthy of meals, agricultural sustainability, local development, distribution of food value chain and workers' rights. Finally, it is stressed the importance of local food policies and urban Food councils in boosting and favouring the spreading of sustainable Food Public Procurement practices
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

(Roma, 5 febbraio 1944), Con un palmo di naso (Roma, 26 giugno 1944). È in questi anni che affondano le radici di quella compresenza, che caratterizzerà la sua recitazione anche in seguito, di elementi che la critica ha spesso indicato come antitetici (istinto e artificio, spontaneità e tecnica, natura e cultura e, ancora, intensità emotiva e distacco, comico e drammatico), ma che, se si guardano dal punto di vista delle pratiche del teatro, con i suoi saperi legati anche alla tradizione popolare, contraddittori non risultano più
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Arginine-vasopressin stimulates CRH and ACTH release by rat adrenal medulla, acting via the V-1 receptor subtype and a protein kinase C-dependent pathway
No full textArginine-vasopressin (AVP) is a hypothalamic hormone that, like CRH, stimulates the pituitary release of ACTH, thereby activating adrenal glucocorticoid secretion. Evidence indicates that rat adrenal medulla contains a CRH-ACTH system duplicating that existing at the hypothalamo-pituitary level and involved in the paracrine stimulation of the cortex secretion. Therefore, we investigated by RIA the effect of AVP on the release of CRH and ACTH immunoreactivities (IR) by rat adrenal medulla in vitro. AVP concentration-dependently enhanced the release of both CRH-IR and ACTH-IR, and the effect was blocked by a selective antagonist of the V1 subtype of AVP receptors. The CRH receptor antagonist alpha-helical-CRH partially reversed AVP-evoked rise in ACTH-IR release, without altering either CRH response or basal secretions of CRH and ACTH. The specific inhibitors of protein kinase C Ro31-8220 and calphostin C abolished both CRH and ACTH responses to AVP. In conclusion, our present findings suggest that AVP stimulates intramedullary the CRH-ACTH system, acting via V1 receptors and activating protein kinase C
