Queer, Hybrid Participatory Design: Relational Practices and Norms for Coalition Building With Rural, LGBTQ+ Communities
This paper examines the first year of collaboration between the Bear River Region LGBTQ+ Community Coalition and queer residents in rural northern Utah, United States, using a hybrid participatory design (PD) approach. Using Yep’s queer relationality theory, we examine how hybrid spaces were designed and iteratively adapted to support inclusion, care, and collective agency among LGBTQ+ community members. Drawing on Community Coalition Action Theory and queer PD, we analyze four cases from May 2024 to June 2025 including workshops and regular meetings to explore how relational practices evolved across different formats and phases of coalition development. In this paper, we articulate how norms, facilitation, and planning were co-created by coalition members, shifting away from productivity-centered hybrid models toward participatory practices. We contribute to PD by advancing queer relationality as both a theoretical and practical framework for designing hybrid interactions that resist normative constraints and center the lived experiences of rural LGBTQ+ communities

Cannabis-Assisted Psychotherapy for Complex Dissociative Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: A Case Report
Background: A dissociative subtype of posttraumatic stress disorder, known as D-PTSD , has been included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition. In addition to meeting criteria for PTSD, patients endorse prominent dissociative symptoms, namely depersonalization and derealization, or detachment from one\u27s self and surroundings. At present, this population is supported by a highly heterogeneous and undeveloped literature. Targeted interventions are therefore lacking, and those indicated for PTSD are limited by poor efficacy, delayed onset of action, and low patient engagement. Here, we introduce cannabis-assisted psychotherapy (CAP) as a novel treatment for D-PTSD, drawing parallels to psychedelic therapy.
Case presentation: A 28-year-old female presented with complex D-PTSD. In a naturalistic setting, she underwent 10 sessions of CAP, scheduled twice monthly over 5 months, coupled with integrative cognitive behavioral therapy. An autonomic and relational approach to CAP was leveraged, specifically psychedelic somatic interactional psychotherapy. Acute effects included oceanic boundlessness, ego dissolution, and emotional breakthrough. From baseline to post-treatment, the patient showed a 98.5% reduction in pathological dissociation, as measured by the Multidimensional Inventory of Dissociation, no longer meeting criteria for D-PTSD. This was accompanied by decreased cognitive distractibility and emotional suffering, as well as increased psychosocial functioning. Anecdotally, the patient has sustained improvements for over 2 years to date.
Conclusions: There is urgency to identify treatments for D-PTSD. The present case, while inherently limited, underscores the potential of CAP as a therapeutic option, leading to robust and sustained improvement. Subjective effects were comparable to those produced by classic and non-classic psychedelics, such as psilocybin and ketamine. Further research is warranted to explore, establish, and optimize CAP in D-PTSD, and to characterize its role in the pharmacological landscape
Inclusion of Ethnoracial Groups & Gender Identities in Ketamine Trials for Treatment-Resistant Depression: A Systematic Review
This systematic review aims to examine the inclusion of ethnoracial groups and gender identities in trials investigating ketamine/esketamine for treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Participant recruitment strategies and clinical outcomes will additionally be explored
Interprofessional simulation in healthcare and competency development. Literature review
Profesional en Instrumentación QuirúrgicaPregradoIntroduction: Interprofessional simulation (IPSS) is an effective learning strategy to improve role recognition, teamwork and assertive communication competencies in health professionals in training. Objectives: To describe the use and implementation of interprofessional simulation to strengthen competencies in role recognition, teamwork and assertive communication in health sciences students. Methods: systematic literature review with searches in specialized databases based on a strategy built with standardized terms. Data were collected related to the characteristics of the simulation, the professions involved, the tools used and the competencies to be strengthened. Results: 69 articles related to the objective of the research were identified, which mention that the SIP has a positive influence on the development of assertive communication, teamwork and role recognition competencies. Conclusions: The use and implementation of the SIP strengthens the role recognition, teamwork and assertive communication skills of health professionals in training. This can lead to better collaboration and coordination among team members, which can improve patient care and safety
