Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Kako raste potreba za sve većom proizvodnjom hrane, tako raste i značaj akvakulture kao
sektora proizvodnje hrane. Jedan od najvećih varijabilnih troškova proizvodnje u akvakulturi
je riblja hrana stoga su tehnologija proizvodnje hrane te njena kvaliteta izuzetno važni za
sektor. Proizvodnja peletirane hrane za šarana je proces kojim se iz sirovih sastojaka, proizvodi
nutritivno uravnotežen i stabilan oblik hrane koristeći tehnološke procese mljevenja,
miješanja, kondicioniranja, peletiranja, sušenja, hlađenja i premazivanja uljem. Važno je
poznavati hranidbene potrebe šarana kroz sezone i životne stadije, udjele hranjivih tvari u
sirovinama, aspekte svih tehnoloških procesa te kako ih koristiti da dobijemo proizvod koji ima
željene hranidbene karakteristike i fizička svojstva.As the need for ever greater food production increases, so does the importance of
aquaculture as a sector of food production. One of the largest variable costs in aquaculture
production is fish feed, so production and quality are very important to this sector. The
production of fish feed pellets for carp is a process in which we obtain a nutritionally balanced
and stable form of feed from raw perishable ingredients through the technological processes
of grinding, mixing, conditioning, pelleting, drying, cooling and oil application. In order to
obtain a product with the desired nutritional properties, it is important to know the nutritional
needs of carp in different seasons and life stages, as well as the nutrient proportions in the
raw materials, the aspects of all technological processes and their application
Solar panels on water surfaces
Solarna energija predstavlja jedan od glavnih izvora obnovljive energije. Potencijal proizvodnje električne energije putem solarnih panela predmet je brojnih istraživanja. Ovaj rad daje pregled istraživanja solarnih panela na vodenim površinama te njihove prednosti i nedostatke u odnosu na kopnene solarne sustave. Obrađuje se i utjecaj solarnih panela na vodeni okoliš te njihov potencijal u budućnosti. Paneli postižu najveće vrijednosti proizvodnje kad su u doticaju s vodom radi efekta hlađenja. Također, blizina vode doprinosi dugovječnosti rada panela. Hibridni sustavi mogu pozitivno utjecati i na prirast ribe. Solarni paneli pružaju sjenu na površini vode što štiti uzgajane životinjske vrste od temperaturnih ekstrema i drugih okolišnih stresova. Suradnja između istraživača, poljoprivrednika i kreatora politike može pomoći u razvoju prilagođenih rješenja, kako za svjetski tako i hrvatski kontekst razvoja plutajućih solarnih panela koja maksimiziraju dobrobit proizvodnje obnovljive energije uz osiguranje sigurnosti hrane i vode. Tehnička izvodljivost postavljanja solarnih panela na vodene površine je već dokazana, ali i dalje nedostaju specifična istraživanja o direktnom doticaju vode s pontonskim strukturama i solarnim panelima, kao i o njihovoj mogućoj povezanosti s akvakulturom.Solar energy is one of the main sources of renewable energy. The potential for electricity production through solar panels has been the subject of numerous studies. This paper provides an overview of research on solar panels installed on water surfaces, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages compared to land-based solar systems. It also examines the impact of solar panels on aquatic environments and their future potential. Panels achieve the highest production values when in contact with water due to the cooling effect. Additionally, proximity to water contributes to the longevity of panel operation. Hybrid systems can also positively impact fish growth. Solar panels provide shade on the water surface, which protects cultivated species from temperature extremes and other environmental stresses. Collaboration between researchers, farmers and policy makers can help develop tailored solutions, both for the global and Croatian context of developing floating solar panels that maximize the benefits of renewable energy production while ensuring food and water security. The technical feasibility of placing solar panels on water surfaces has already been proven. However, there is still a lack of specific research on the direct contact of water with pontoon structures and solar panels, as well as their possible connection with aquaculture
Length-weight relationship and condition factor of common dentex juveniles (Dentex dentex) in aquaculture
Cilj istraživanja je bio odrediti dužinsko-masene odnose i indeks kondicije mlađi zubaca (Dentex dentex) na uzgajalištu Mala Lamjana-Cromaris d.d. U rujnu i listopadu 2019. godine, te ožujku 2020. godine, provedena su biometrijska mjerenja u kojima su se izmjerile totalna dužina (TL), dužina do vilice (FL), masa (W) i širina tijela mlađi zubaca. Regresijskom analizom izračunati su dužinsko-maseni odnosi te je određen Fultonov indeks kondicije. Dobiveni rezultati u rujnu 2019. indiciraju negativan alometrijski rast, u listopadu je zabilježen pozitivan alometrijski rast, a u ožujku 2020. je utvrđen izometrijski rast mlađi. Prosječna vrijednost indeksa kondicije u rujnu je iznosila CF=1,80±0,13, u listopadu CF=1,70±0,09, dok je utvrđeni indeks kondicije za ožujak iznosio CF=1,46±0,13. Vrijednosti indeksa kondicije upućuju da je mlađ bila u dobrom kondicijskom stanju.The aim of the study was to determine the length-weight relationships and condition factor of common dentex fingerlings (Dentex dentex) at the farm Mala Lamjana-Cromaris d.d. In September and October 2019, and in March 2020, biometric measurements were performed in which the following characteristics of dentex fingerlings were measured: total length (TL), fork length (FL), mass (W) and body width. Regression analysis was calculated for length-weight relationships and Fulton's condition factor was determined. The results obtained in September 2019 indicated negative allometric growth, positive allometric growth was recorded in October, while isometric growth was found in March 2020. The average value of the condition factor in September was CF = 1.80±0.13, in October CF = 1.70±0.09, while the condition factor for March was CF = 1.46±0.13. The values of the condition factor indicate that the fingerlings were in good condition

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
