Transmedia archaeology: storytelling in the borderlines of science fiction, comics and pulp magazines
No full textThroughout the world, people now engage with stories across multiple media, following the adventures of Doctor Who from television to the Web, exploring the Batman universe across cinema, television, comics, and more. This may seem recent, but transmedia storytelling is not a new phenomenon. History is filled with popular fiction, whose stories extend across different media as yesteryear's fan communities also participated in the act of expanding fictional worlds. In Transmedia Archaeology, Carlos A. Scolari, Paolo Bertetti and Matthew Freeman examine manifestations of transmedia storytelling not only in different historical periods but also in different countries, spanning the UK, the US and Argentina. They take us into the worlds of Conan the Barbarian, Superman and El Eternauta, and explore transmedia storytelling as part of 20th century mass culture, fandom, narrative practices, genres, and even political activism, giving us an introduction to the archaeology of transmedia

Her poems have been published in numerous journals and several anthologies. She co-edited the acclaimed Sisters: An Anthology (2009). Freeman founded Paris Press in 1995 in order to bring into print Muriel Rukeyser’s The Life of Poetry. She has been its director and publisher since. Paris Press educates the public about groundbreaking yet overlooked literature by women and has also championed the work of Virginia Woolf, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Ruth Stone and numerous other women writers of the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries

The life-history and relationships of ‘Orthocladius’ pictipennis Freeman (Diptera: Chironomidae)
No full textThe previously unknown larva and pupa of ‘Orthocladius’ pictipennis Freeman have been found, and associated by molecular means. Pharate pupae (males within pupae) allow the link to the described adult. We describe the larva and pupa, and provide short notes on the adult. The taxon is unrelated to Orthocladius – no members of this Holarctic genus are present in New Zealand – and therefore we provide a new generic name, Paulfreemania Cranston and Krosch gen. n. as well as a short discussion of relationships amongst austral Orthocladiinae
Reading Matthew by the Dead Sea: Matthew 8:5-13 in Light of P. Yadin 11
No full textThe archive of the Judean woman Babatha, with its 35 legal papyri in Aramaic and Greek (P. Yadin 1-35), which was hidden by her in a cave on the western side of the Dead Sea in 135 CE and rediscovered in 1961, offers unique insights into the social world of the region from 94-132 CE. This is because legal documents reflect significant opportunities and challenges in people's lives and frequently bring to the surface underlying social issues and pressures. Babatha's documents, which reflect lively interactions between Judeans, Nabateans and Romans across a wide range of situations, do precisely this. They allow us better to understand the context in which New Testament texts appeared and how they made sense to their original audiences. Matthew's Gospel, with its strong interest in Judean/non-Judean relationships, is particularly susceptible to such treatment. In this article, P. Yadin 11, a remarkable document in Greek from 124 CE recording a loan of 60 denarii from a Roman centurion stationed at En-gedi to Babatha's second husband, is analysed for what it reveals about likely understandings of centurions in that setting. The findings of this investigation are then applied to Matthew 8:5-13 in the interests of a socially realistic interpretatio
Unlocking the Potential of the Congressional Review Act
No full textThe Congressional Review Act (CRA) permits Congress to overturn rules issued by federal agencies with a simple majority in each chamber. Traditionally, the CRA has been used as a negative tool, to cancel regulations adopted during the prior administration, including the 14 Obama-era rules Congress overturned during the first four months of the Trump administration. This Issue Brief by Professors Jody Freeman and Matthew Stephenson of Harvard Law School argues that the CRA's fast-track procedures have "substantially greater unrealized potential" and could be used as an affirmative tool to advance policy priorities without being subject to filibuster. In light of unprecedented congressional obstructionism, Freeman and Stephenson argue that exploring this nontraditional use of the CRA is "essential to the health of our democracy" and to returning Congress to its job of legislating

There is considerable information pertaining to the Consultation on Church Commission, all of which involved Father Hudson. Most of the material is concentrated between the years 1969 and 1978, when Father Hudson held the office of Ecumenical officer for Uppers South Carolina. While this collection contains considerable correspondence, it has been filed topically, not according to author.
