On the normalization of a priority vector associated with a reciprocal relation.
In this paper we show that the widely used normalization constraint SUM(i=1,n) wi = 1 does not apply to the priority vectors associated with reciprocal relations, whenever additive transitivity is involved. We show that misleading applications of this type of normalization may lead to unsatisfactory results and we give some examples from the literature. Then, we propose an alternative normalization procedure which is compatible with additive transitivity and leads to better results.reciprocal relation; fuzzy preference relation; priority vector; normalization
On the priority vector associated with a fuzzy preference relation and a multiplicative preference relation.
We propose two straightforward methods for deriving the priority vector associated with a fuzzy preference relation. Then, using transformations between multiplicative preference relations and fuzzy preference relations, we study the relationships between the priority vectors associated with these two types of preference relations.pairwise comparison matrix; fuzzy preference relation; priority vector
New infrastructures for Urban Air Mobility systems: A systematic review on vertiport location and capacity
New technological developments pave the way for passengers and goods transport provided by electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles and introduce the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) opportunity. Adding a vertical dimension in transportation system supply could bring some improvements, for instance for faster intra/inter-city connections. However, there are several aspects that have to be further examined such as regulations, travel demand, public acceptance, and ground infrastructures called vertiports, these latter being the interchange nodes between ground and aerial transport modes. Vertiport position and capacity, with their related relevant factors, are among the most critical aspects of UAM, which could strongly limit its development. Identifying advantages and disadvantages of possible solutions for locating and designing suitably vertiports is relevant in order to set guidelines for these new infrastructures, similarly to what has been done for other transport infrastructures – like airports, railways, roads. In this perspective, this paper wants to provide a systematic review that deals only on vertiport characteristics, in order to compare the most important approaches and results presented in the literature. Particularly, the paper focuses on the main features that influence vertiport location and capacity and identifies research gaps in order to encourage future studies

OWA-based fuzzy m-ary adjacency relations in Social Network Analysis.
In this paper we propose an approach to Social Network Analysis (SNA) based on fuzzy m-ary adjacency relations. In particular, we show that the dimension of the analysis can naturally be increased and interesting results can be derived. Therefore, fuzzy m-ary adjacency relations can be computed starting from fuzzy binary relations and introducing OWA-based aggregations. The behavioral assumptions derived from the measure and the exam of individual propensity to connect with other suggest that OWA operators can be considered particularly suitable in characterizing such relationships.reciprocal relation; fuzzy preference relation; priority vector; normalization
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
