Kacem Hadj Mahammed

AbstractThe present article revolves around the subject of Prophetic medicine which has become both widely practiced and a theme of a large number of studies and conferences in recent years. Different views on it have appeared that range between total rejection and absolute reckoning and defense thereof by virtue of its attribution to the Prophet peace be upon him. Thus, the article looks into the concept and meaning of Prophetic medicine and lists out and describes the most important books written on it. Then, it discusses and analyzes a set of rules and parameters that need to be observed when dealing with medicine-related Prophetic traditions and using them in arguments on medical issues. Accordingly, the author has arrived at the following two crucial conclusions: the first is that Prophetic medicine cannot be dismissed outright en bloc, since medical research has confirmed the validity of some of its contents. Second, it cannot be considered as infallible revelation that should be literally obeyed and that on such matters of health and medicine the Prophet speaks not in his capacity as conveyor of divine revelation but out of his human experience. Keywords: Prophetic medicine, the Prophet, revelation, rules and parameters.

This special issue looks at religious affiliation in the context of post-colonial immigration struggles. It presents various types of mobilisation associated with Muslim referents, in order to examine the way in which these referents are constructed, claimed, discredited or omitted by the actors in these struggles. Based on in-depth empirical research, it sheds light on areas of activism such as places of worship (Julien Talpin), protest mobilisations (Samir Hadj Belgacem and Hanane Karimi, Foued Nasri, Julien Talpin), humanitarian organisations (Lucas Faure) and partisan circles (Vincent Geisser). The special issue highlights the plurality of Muslim involvements in terms of the actors' categories, the repertoires of action and the registers of justification. It also shows the polarisation of these forms of involvement, both with regard to the Muslim frame of reference (some activists seeking to euphemize Islam, others assuming forms of religious visibility) and the authorities (some adopting antagonistic modes of action, others opting for more accommodating approaches towards the state). It highlights the way in which religious affiliation takes its place within a multiplicity of social roles and makes it possible to consider the relationship between religious dispositions, ethical practices and political commitments.

The political characterization of Algerian literature under the era of colonialism has been widely discussed. Nevertheless, due to its major political dimension - more sensed than debated - scholars have focused primarily on rigid categorization and interpretive templates, at the exclusion of concepts within the texts deviating from the colonial credo. The objective remains to broaden the scope of the Algerian Interwar novel by proposing a reading cognizant of its literary fundamentals (aesthetic, tone, style, rhetoric) and subsequent interaction with ideological agendas, not necessarily in terms of a historical reinterpretation. The ambiguity inherent in the Algerian novel precludes its classification as solely a thesis novel and demands rigor in its perception as multifaceted in nature. Stemming from this, one questions the concept of a thesis novel, presupposing that intrinsic polyphony will conceive not only one, but multiple theses. Without this presupposition, the Algerian Interwar novel becomes a novel of allegiance with disregard to the subtlety and complexity of the colonial environment from which the novel evolved, leading to deprivation of its essence as a literary piece. Indeed, under the colonial regime, the novels were conscripted into the appareil idéologique d'État (Althusser). Despite apparent endorsement of the colonial ideology, the novels themselves generate their own internal mechanisms of subversion, via the creation of an intellectual movement (Algérianisme) which undermines the state-sponsored politico-artistic body. If the novel can be considered at the least as a breaking point of any univocal interpretation (as characters were not created to be the voice of the author), then one must know "that a text is not simply a line of words, yielding a sole meaning in a theological sense (the "message" of the Author/God), but rather exists as a multidimensional space where varied writings join and compete but yet none can be perceived the original source. " (Roland Barthes). The intention of this work is to render justice to these texts by a literary analysis of the writings of Robert Randau and Abdelkader Hadj Hamou. In so doing, various facets and modalities will emerge from the colonial novel which will reject the traditional interpretative readings

Problem Child and Substitutional Child Care in School Facilities Providing Institutional and Protective Care

Author of this work gives an overall look at the field of care for children with special interest in those children who have bad social behaviour; his view represents one of many possible and existing views in this field. Reflecting varied theoretical outcomes and practical experience the work presents a complex picture of methods of care for children who are "problematic" and are temporarily placed in special schools, alternative educational institutions and similar facilities. The work proceeds from wide general knowledge and interdisciplinary relations between psychology and pedagogy to more specific and practical impact of such relations and knowledge and concrete examples of their possible usage in real life. The main goal of the work is to approach the subject of children who are difficult to educate and present this topic in really wide, complex way highlighting the key role of preventive measures that represent the whole bunch of related methods, procedures and actions preventing development of such educational problems in children. The author of the work considers very important to respect natural development of each child and its individual needs during the whole educational process and at the same time considers important to support these aspects with social relations and relationships of high..

Possibility of Using Educational Diagnostics with Children who have been Suspended

    No full text
The author of the paper used different methods of pedagogical research (the observation of children, the interview and the analyses) to discover the effectiveness of deferring the start of school attendance for one year, according to the success of individual children in a nursery school, but also with regards to their differences as a group. The research was conducted using a sample of 10 children, all with different reasons for their school attendance being deferred. It was proved, that children who had been deemed necessary by a psychologist found deferment of school attendance useful. The data obtained from this research can be used for individual education programs based on a child's particular problems. The beginning of school attendance is an important part of human life, therefore it is imperative that steps are taken to ensure that is as beneficial to the child as can be. Vibro-acoustic products from re-cycled raw materials using a cold extrusion process. A continuous cold extrusion process has been developed to tailor a porous structure from polymeric waste, so that the final material possesses particular vibro-acoustic properties.

A cold extrusion process has been developed to tailor a porous structure from polymeric waste. The use of an extruder to manufacture acoustic materials from recycled waste is a novel idea and the author is not aware of any similar attempts. The extruder conveys and mixes the particulates with a reacting binder. The end result is the continuous production of bound particulates through which a controlled amount of carbon dioxide gas that is evolved during the reaction is used to give the desired acoustic properties. The cold extrusion process is a low energy consuming process that reprocesses the post manufacturing waste into new vibro-acoustic products that can be used to meet the growing public expectations for a quieter environment. The acoustical properties of the developed products are modelled using Pade approximation and Johnson-Champoux-Allard models. Applications for the developed products are widespread and include acoustic underlay, insulation and panels in buildings, noise barriers for motorways and railway tracks, acoustic insulation in commercial appliances and transport vehicles

The Open City: A Grammatology of Migrant-Rights Movements and the Logic of Sovereignty

In the following work I apply a grammatological method of analysis to the concomitant objects of a logic of sovereignty and migrant-rights politics. Drawing on the analytical tools of genealogy, etymology and pragmatics outlined by Jacques Derrida, I argue that a portable grammar of emplaced possibility generated by migrant-rights movements situated in cities (sanctuary politics in Toronto, Canada, the sans-papier in Paris, and Sheffield UK’s “Cities of Sanctuary” movement) give rise to novel and significant changes in political discourse, generating articulations of a democracy of strangers, common right, solidarity beyond citizenship, and an unprecedented notion of freedom. Using this unorthodox method, I find that a history of Western logocentrism is constituted by an economy of translations not exclusive to its privileged subject or territorial boundary—especially involving circuits of meaning and tracing encounters with pre-Hellenic and Arabic cultures. In turn, the traditio or ‘official tradition’ of an interiorized ‘West’ passed down from Greece to Rome to the vernacular present is the product of a logic of sovereignty through which the repetition of questions that already imply internally homogeneous community against their ‘exteriors’ also generate assumptions around the author and authority of that community from Plato onward. From this vantage point, an international system of nation-states is understood to compulsively give rise to emergent technologies of border enforcement and extra-territorialization, detention, deportation and encampment. In departure from this logic, and signaling the possibilia of radically new institutional frameworks, attention to migrant-rights movements supports a distinct grammar of cosmopolitan democracy not yet captured by scholars, including a research project uncovering genealogies of cities as already plural and interdependent, etymologies of sanctuary, hospitality and civic refuge, and prefiguring institutions of welcome within a globalized world (in particular, parliaments of unrepresented subjects, universities as everyday critical sites of public engagement, and technological networks of vigilant anticipation of the arrival of newcomers). The amalgam of these theoretical and practical elements I refer to as the open city
