Quantum advantage in zero-error function computation with side information
We consider the problem of zero-error function computation with side information. Alice has a source X and Bob has correlated source Y and they can communicate via either classical or a quantum channel. Bob wants to calculate f(X,Y) with zero error. We aim to characterize the minimum amount of information that Alice needs to send to Bob for this to happen with zero-error. In the classical setting, this quantity depends on the asymptotic growth of χ(G(m)), the chromatic number of an appropriately defined m-instance "confusion graph". In this work we present structural characterizations of G(m) and demonstrate two function computation scenarios that have the same single-instance confusion graph. However, in one case there a strict advantage in using quantum transmission as against classical transmission, whereas there is no such advantage in the other case. This is a preprint from Meng, Ruoyu, and Aditya Ramamoorthy. Personalization vs. Privacy: Overcoming the Users’ Privacy Concerns in the Indonesian Peer-to-peer Ridesharing Service
The recent ICT developments have created new business model innovation opportunities. One of notable opportunities is to offer personalization to the peer-to-peer (P2P) ridesharing users in transportation service. However, to offer personalization, the company will need more sensitive personal information disclosure from its customer. Therefore, the action of P2P ridesharing companies to offer personalization to its users might be unsuccessful due to the disability of the companies to acquire the users’ personal data and deliver the personalization service that caused by the elevated privacy concerns of the users. This study aims to offer recommendations to P2P ridesharing companies to overcome the users’ privacy concerns. By using a survey questionnaire to 265 Jakarta respondents, this study concludes that the utilitarian approaches are the most effective means to increase the users’ willingness to disclose personal data. However, the privacy assurance approaches are also important and preferred by the respondents to ensure the users’ privacy right. Additionally, the study also concludes that the most expensive privacy type in this context of study is the privacy of behavior and action, whereas the privacy of location and space can be bought by offering the usefulness of the service only. This study can be improved in several areas, most notably in the area related to sampling strategy. Furthermore, the follow up research can also be conducted by performing design science research to apply this study in a legitimate artifact.Technology, Policy and ManagementEngineering, Systems and Service
Technological Framework to assess the implementation of Power to Hydrogen
The current EU member states have set targets to reduce annual greenhouse emissions for 2021-2030. Sixty per cent of EU emissions include sectors like buildings, agriculture, non-ETS industry and waste. Much research cannot be found to reduce emissions in the buildings, houses and community-based scenarios. Therefore, this research focuses on developing an innovative model to make the community a hundred percent reliant on renewable energy sources. Renewable energy produces power variably depending upon external conditions. At times, the variability of renewable energy cannot be fed into the power grid due to network constraints or low demand leading to curtailment of the energy or selling the energy at zero marginal price. Therefore, the curtailment of energy and its intermittency is the biggest barrier in delaying the transition towards a hundred per cent of renewable power into the power systems. Robust energy storage technology is required to integrate with an intelligent control system to increase the penetration of renewable energy into the energy mix. To meet this requirement, “Green Hydrogen” produced can contribute to energy security by providing another energy carrier with different supply chains, producers, and markets, diversifying the energy mix, and improving the system’s resilience. To produce hydrogen, power to hydrogen technology is an innovative solution, and a framework needs to be developed to integrate this technology in the community using Industry 4.0.Management of Technology (MoT

Towards Proactive Integration of Sustainability in Projects: A framework for integrating sustainability at the operational level of EPC contracting organization
In recent years, the concept of sustainability has grown in popularity and has become a critical strategic component for businesses (Garza, 2013). Corporate organizations, as the industry's productive drivers, play a crucial role in attaining sustainable development. Thus, the problems have shifted from "WHY" to "HOW" to integrate sustainability into management decisions at all organizational levels (Epstein & Buhovac, 2014). Corporate entities, such as EPC contractors, tend to realize their strategic goals and produce value for their shareholders through projects. However, for sustainability to be evident in all organizational practices, these methods must be well adapted at the operational level. Organizations are increasingly struggling to translate their strategic goals into project-specific activities (Marcelino-Sádaba et al., 2015; Engert & Baumgartner, 2015). In practice, there is a significant gap between strategy formulation and project implementation (Økland, 2015). The problem addressed by this study is the gap between the formulation of strategic level objectives and its implementation at the operational level. According to researchers, integrated ways to putting sustainability into action are inadequate, and there is no systematic approach to effectively incorporating sustainability into projects (Silvius et al., 2012; Sabini et al., 2019; Epstein & Buhovac, 2014). As a result, sustainability goals often remain confined at the strategic level. The purpose of this research is to provide solutions to the EPC contractor to overcome the barriers to enhance the integration of sustainability in projects and bridge the implementation gap. The results will provide a structured approach in connecting high-level sustainability objectives to more concrete and tangible solutions for the project. This research is an attempt to respond to the lack of empirical studies on the implementation of organizational sustainability strategies and helps reveals how organizations can move towards translating strategy into action and overcome the barriers to sustainability implementation. To achieve this objective, the research is divided into three main phases. In phase one, literature review and document review was conducted. Through literature review five elements essential for implementing sustainability strategies were identified i.e., organizational decision-making, lifecycle thinking, balancing the triple bottom line, stakeholder engagement, and proactive approach. Through document review the gap between strategic and operational level was highlighted. In the second phase, semi-structured interviews were conducted with people in the top management and project managers to identify the barriers to sustainability implementation resulting in the gap between strategic and operational level. In total 20 barriers were identified. The interviews also included understanding the application of elements identified from literature review in practice. The third and the final phase, synthesised all the findings from phase one and two, and proposed solution to the EPC company to integrate sustainability in projects. This was done by providing mitigating actions to overcome the identified barriers and proposing a framework to translate strategy into action, thus bridging the implementation gap. Using the suggested framework to make the strategy explicit has the following benefits: it encourages communication and strategy execution, allows for strategy discussion within the organization, and tracks progress toward long-term goals to determine whether the strategy is clear or needs improvement. Application of Sandwich Panels in Offshore Structures: Static Strength, Buckling Strength and Weight & Cost Analysis
In steel structures, a lot of attention is paid to lightweight structure, i.e. reduction of dead load without compromising structural safety, integrity and performance as well as cost-effectiveness. Thanks to modern steel aluminium sandwich panel manufacturing technology a new possibility became available for lightweight structural design. The objective of this thesis is to evaluate the application of sandwich panels in the construction of steel structures with the aim of weight reduction without affecting other parameters like safety, performance, cost, etc. In this thesis, both column and plate buckling theories are considered and applied to the sandwich panel to evaluate its behaviour under in-plane compressive load. Effects of various material models and imperfections on buckling strength of sandwich panel are evaluated. Stiffened plate and sandwich panel is compared in terms of buckling resistance and self-weight. Three different sandwich panels made from faceplates of steel grade, S355, S690 & S1100, are used for replacement of S355 stiffened plate. Efforts made to understand the effect of various physical parameters on buckling resistance of sandwich panel in both column and plate buckling theories. Finally, as a case study, sandwich panel technology is used to redesign the Huisman structure. The objective is to investigate whether applying sandwich panels in redesign makes it possible to obtain a sufficient weight reduction without losing its performance. For this case study, sandwich panels with faceplates of steel grade S355, S690 and S1100 are used. Static and buckling strength of the new design is evaluated. Also, the cost of new design and original design is evaluated and results are compared. Cost analysis is done to evaluate whether a sandwich panel is an economical solution.Findings of this thesis are that in future it is possible to use sandwich panels in offshore structures to save a significant amount of weight while taking considerations into account. Sandwich panels can be successfully used to replace stiffened plates. Sandwich panels with faceplates made from extra high strength steel can give significant weight reduction. But the use of sandwich panels also results in an increase in the overall cost of the structure. So in terms of costs, it is questioned whether or not using sandwich panels is economically beneficial for offshore equipment
Source model of the great 2011 Tohoku earthquake estimated from tsunami waveforms and crustal deformation data
The slip distribution of the 11 March 2011 Tohoku earthquake is inferred from tsunami waveforms, GPS data, and seafloor crustal deformation data. The major slip region extends all the way to the trench, and the large slip area extends 300 km long and 160 km wide. The largest slip of 44 m is located up-dip of the hypocenter. The large slip amount, about 41 m, ruptured the plate interface near the trench. The seismic moment calculated from the estimated slip distribution is 5.5 x 10^[22] N m (Mw 9.1). The large tsunami due to the 2011 Tohoku earthquake is generated from those large slip areas near the trench. The additional uplift at the sedimentary wedge as suggested for the 1896 Sanriku earthquake may have occurred during the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, too

duniawi maupun ukhrawi.

ABSTRACT
This thesis discusses "The Social Dimensions of Hypocrites in
the Study of Tafsit Al Mishbah" by M. Quraish Shihab. The
background of this writing is that hypocrisy is one of the despicable
morals that can damage the Islamic faith. Hypocrisy is not only a
matter of lying one's faith in Allah and His Messenger, but hypocrisy
also includes issues of charity and human actions towards others.
Hypocrisy receives special attention in the Qur'an. The Qur'an
explains in detail in various surahs and verses about hypocrites.
Based on this background, the author is interested in researching
hypocrisy in Al Mishbah's interpretation because this interpretation
uses adabul ijtima'i (social social) style because hypocrisy affects
social life.
This writing aims to find out how the interpretation of the
hypocrites in surah Al-Baqarah verses 8-20, and Qs.Al Munafiqun in
the interpretation of Al-Misbah and how relevant these interpretations
are to contemporary conditions. This writing is qualitative writing
through data collection, the author collects data documentatively
from various sources in several libraries and seeks related
information from various articles on the internet. This research is a
library research. From the focus of this research, it is divided into 2
research sub-focuses, namely the meaning of hypocrisy in al mishbah
and the denial of the meaning of hypocrisy in social life. The purpose
of this research is to explain and understand further about the
meaning of the hypocritical verses in the interpretation of al-Mishbah
and the social impact of that interpretation. The research focus in this
study is focused on the hypocritical meaning of the social dimension
in Al-Mishbah's interpretation
The results of this writing are: a) a hypocrite is a person who
performs actions that are not the same physically and mentally.
Outwardly they are Muslims but their souls and minds do not believe,
they do this for the safety of themselves and their property, and so
that they can know the secrets of Islam and intend to divide or tear
down Islam. b) seeing from the explanation of the hypocrites at the
time of the Prophet which has been explained in the interpretation of
vi
the Al-Qur'an Al-Karîm, the author analyzes that these characteristics
also exist today, for this reason there is a need for awareness and
introspection for Muslims in carrying out a actions to avoid hypocrisy
in oneself, because hypocrisy has a bad impact on worldly and
spiritual aspects.
