Cipriano di Eudocia Augusta, studiando l'aspetto linguistico, quello metrico, quello stilistico e letterario e il rapporto con il testo in prosa di riferimento (la Conversio, del IV secolo d.C.) di cui Eudocia fa una trasposizione in versi. Viene evidenziato il rapporto presente con l'epica arcaica ma al tempo stesso gli aspetti tipicamente tardoantichi del poema, e come Eudocia utilizzi un linguaggio omerico ed epico per scrivere questa agiografia in versi, illustrando il messaggio cristiano con lo stile classico e pagano

After a reevaluation of metre, language, and the popularity of the motif (the lonely lover’s lament), the manuscript tradition of the sources (Hephaestion, paroemiography), the printed tradition (with particular reference to the colometry), and the relationship between the Notturno and anonymous popular poetry are examined

No full textAbout the etymology of ap(p)iosus (equus) in Pelag. 29 and the problematic relationship between the adjective and the title of the chapter, cursus lunae. The solution of M. Ihm, followed by K.-D. Fischer (Gr. selinites > Lat. apiosus [selinon = apium], then confusion with selenites/selenitis [< selene]), is reversed, with special reference to the presence of selinon in the healing potions and the connection of the ap(p)iosus’ symptoms with moon influence (see e.g. the ophthalmic disease called ‘moon blindness’)

No full textLa lezione hagemakhoi in Sim. fr. 11,14 W.2 è stata oggetto di discussione per l’ alpha lungo iniziale, presumibilmente dorico, ritenuto eccezionale nel contesto dell’elegia su Platea. R. Rawles propone di correggere con ankhemakhoi, duce I.C. Rutheford. Si contesta quivi la liceità di tale emendamento, e la presupposta ratio corruptelae, richiamando l’attenzione sul dettaglio dei testimoni papiracei, a conferma della lezione tràdita. La prospettiva di interpretare questo epiteto come un dorismo, pur nel contesto di una lingua di genere epico-ionico, dove trapelano altre forme doriche o dorismi, nonché atticismi, a riprova del fatto che i due papiri recepiscono una tradizione probabilmente discorde. Tale fenomeno potrebbe assumere una qualche importanza nel contesto della vexata quaestio su committenza, occasione e trasmissione del carme plataico
