The cooperative catalysis by palladium and triphenylborane effects the intramolecular oxycyanation of alkenes through the cleavage of O-CN bonds and the subsequent insertion of double bonds. The use of 4,5-bis(diphenylphosphino)-9,9-dimethylxanthene (Xantphos) as a ligand for palladium is essential for allowing the transformation to proceed with high chemo- and regioselectivity. Variously substituted dihydrobenzofurans with both a tetra-substituted carbon and cyano functionality are accessed by the newly developed methodology.MEXT [22105003, 21685023]; Takeda Science Foundation; JSP
Second-order Moller-Plesset perturbation (MP2) theory at finite temperature: relation with Surjan's density matrix MP2 and its application to linear-scaling divide-and-conquer method
In 2005, Surjan showed two explicit formulas for evaluating the second-order Moller-Plesset perturbation (MP2) energy as a functional of the Hartree-Fock density matrix D (Chem Phys Lett 406: 318, 2005), which are referred to as the Delta E-MP2[D] functionals. In this paper, we present the finite-temperature (FT) MP2 energy functionals of the FT Hartree-Fock density matrix. There are also two formulas for the FT-MP2, namely the conventional and renormalized ones; the latter of which has recently been formulated by Hirata and He (J Chem Phys 138: 204112, 2013). We proved that there exists one-to-one correspondence between the formulas of two FT-MP2 and the Delta E-MP2[D] functionals. This fact can explain the different behavior of two Delta E-MP2[D] functionals when an approximate Hartree-Fock density matrix is applied, which was previously investigated by Kobayashi and Nakai (Chem Phys Lett 420: 250, 2006). We also applied the FT-MP2 formalisms to the linear-scaling divide-and-conquer method for improving the accuracy with tiny addition of the computational efforts
Shomeisho 證明書, affidavit
An affidavit written by Kobayashi Trading Company in Tokyo to the Mayor of Yokohama City Naka Ward. It confirms that Tsugitada Kanamori used to work for the Kobayashi Trading Company as a Tokyo office from January 1, 1953 through December 31, 1953.This collection contains one box of documents belonging to Tsugitada Kanamori. Materials in this collection mostly pertain to Kanamori’s efforts regarding canceling his renunciation and reinstating his American citizenship
CaliView: Continuous Viewpoint Calibration Using Dynamic Rotation Gain Control
Lim Donghae, Shirai Shizuka, Kobayashi Masato, et al. CaliView: Continuous Viewpoint Calibration Using Dynamic Rotation Gain Control. IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (2025); https://doi.org/10.1109/TVCG.2025.3620419.Head tracking allows users of Virtual Reality (VR) to freely rotate their heads 360 degrees while exploring virtual environments. When using VR in a limited space, the ability to physically rotate one’s head is limited to a specific range. To address this issue, previous studies have proposed methods to employ distinct rotation factors for real and imaginary rotations. However, its primary usage lies in redirected walking; thus, it is unsuitable for seated VR. In this paper, we propose CaliView, which consistently adjusts the user’s perspective to always face an optimal direction in VR, all while ensuring a comfortable posture. CaliView continuously controls the rotation gain to ensure that the disparity between the present body orientation and the optimal orientation is reduced to zero, encouraging the user to assume a forward-facing position with the target orientation. To assess the suggested approach, CaliView, we experimented to compare three conditions: CaliView, snap turning only (Snap-Turn), and hybrid of CaliView and snap turning (Hybrid). The research findings suggest that CaliView functions as a useful reorientation technique, enabling implicit reorientation without sacrificing the user experience. Additionally, this study showcases its compatibility with various other techniques, such as the traditional snap-turn, thus emphasizing its versatility
The Crab Cannery Ship, by Kobayashi Takiji: translation and considerations
The purpose of this work is the translation of the novel Kaniksen (The Crab Cannery Ship, 1929) by Kobayashi Takij into Portuguese. To reach the proposed objective, we made a historical research about the life and work of Kobayashi Takiji, to understand the literary trajectory of the author, his involvement in the proletarian movement and the socio-political context in which the novel was written. In order to introduce The Crab Cannery Ship the reader of this work, we are made some observations about the novel: a presentation of its theme and narrative, a brief historical research of its appearance, its impact on Japan and around the world, and a survey and critical commentary about the work
Constraints on the left-right symmetric models from the unitarity of the Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix
The author surveys the experimental information which, combined with the unitarity-requirement of the Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix, provides further constraints on the parameters of the manifest left-right symmetric model. The author finds that these considerations, independently of any other input, constrain the left-right mixing angle of the two /b W/-bosons of the model to a few milliradians.Anglai
Explaining the Health Gap Between Canadian- and Foreign-Born Older Adults: Findings from the 2000/2001 Canadian Community Health Survey
Previous research (Gee, Kobayashi, Prus, 2004) indicates that foreign- born older adults (65 years and older) have poorer health than their Canadian-born counterparts. Using data from the 2000/2001 Canadian Community Health Survey, the current study tests two hypotheses to explain the health gap between these two groups. Findings indicate support for the differential vulnerability hypothesis but not for the differential exposure hypothesis in explaining the health gap between Canadian- and foreign-born older adults. What this suggests is that differences in health status between these two groups, rather than being the result of different social locations and/or lifestyle behaviours, can instead be attributed to the different “reactions” of Canadian- and foreign- born older adults to various social and lifestyle determinants of health.health, immigrants, aging
KANIKOSEN (KOBAYASHI TAKIJI)“BACAAN LIAR” TAHUN 1920-AN DALAM RENTANG SEJARAH JEPANG
This paper describes a dynamics proletarian literature and its relationship with Kanikosen novel by Kobayashi Takiji, including; the institution, ideology, production, and figures associated to narration used by Marxism theory posed by the author as one of the Japan "wild literature" in the 1920s. This paper aims to usher the readers to the narrative of the Japanese proletarian literature and illustrates the Japanese proletarian literary map development. The form of “wildness” obtained by the author is a social class conflict in literary texts such as in the Kanikosen story. Like an empirical reality, text construction, especially characterizations, background, and language style reflecting a dynamics of everyday social life. Intimidation, exploitation, deception, torture, suffering labor on one side and on the other side, the accumulation of profits, accumulating capital individually, and the arbitrariness of employers conducted by the owners of capital, reflected brightly by Kobayashi Takiji
