Fast estimation of lithium-ion battery state of health using time series classification
Rapid and reliable estimation of the State of Health (SoH) of lithium-ion batteries is critical for large-scale diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and second-life applications. Traditional machine learning approaches often rely on full charge–discharge cycle data, making them impractical for high-throughput scenarios. In this work, we propose a novel multivariate Time Series Classification (TSC) approach based on the Random Interval Classifier (RIC) to estimate battery SoH using only partial charging cycle data, specifically temperature and voltage time series. Using Oxford and NASA benchmark datasets, we demonstrate that accurate SoH predictions can be achieved using only about 2%–3% of the measurement points from the full charge cycle. Our method preserves estimation accuracy (SoH prediction errors of about 1%) while reducing diagnostic time by a factor of 30, offering a scalable solution for real-world battery management systems (BMS) and industrial testing environments

Didattica e ricerca. L’esperienza del Laboratorio aragonese e sforzesco
In the workshop on Diplomatic correspondences in the Italian Renaissance, directed in January-May 2018 by Francesco Storti and Francesco Senatore in the Istituto italiano per gli studi filosofici of Naples, 12 undergraduate and graduate students learned to read and trascribe italian diplomatic dispatches of the 15th cent., producing a specimen of scientific edition. In the opinion of the author, such activities and similar ones are very useful for future school teachers and scholars and they could be introduced in the university and pHD courses of history. Students of humanistic sciences should have concrete contacts with the historical research on primary sources. On the other hand, editing of historical sources could become a marginal activity because it is not enough appreciated in the current research evaluation processes.

Client-side Computational Optimization
Mobile platforms have matured to a point where they can provide the infrastructure required to support sophisticated optimization codes. This opens the possibility to envisage new interest for distributed application codes and the opportunity to intensify research on optimization algorithms requiring limited computational resources, as provided by mobile platforms.
In this article, we report on some exploratory experience in this area. We illustrate some practical, real-world cases where running optimization programs on mobile or embedded devices can be useful, with particular emphasis on matheuristics approaches. Then, we discuss a practical use case involving the feasibility version of the generalized assignment problem (GAP). We present a JavaScript implementation of a GAP solver that can be executed inside an ordinary browser supporting ECMAScript. We tested the code on different smartphones of varying age and power, as well as on desktop PCs and other embedded devices. Our experiments confirm the viability of mobile devices for computational intensive tasks

sviluppa attraverso tre soste utili all’ammirazione delle opere. L’autore Francesco Murano,
spiega con ricchezza di particolari i vincoli del progetto illuminotecnico e le scelte luministiche.Once again, for the Christmas season, the Municipally of Milan decided to display an important work in the frame of the Palazzo Marino’s Alessi Hall. For this year 2014, the choice has been to propose the Estheràzy Madonna by Raphael, from the Museum of Budapest.
The exhibition curator, Stefano Zuffi, wanted to critically frame to work of Raphael by placing it between the Vegine delle Rocce (Virgin of the Rocks) by Francesco Melzi, coming from the Milan’s Istituto delle Suore Orsoline, and the Madonna della Rosa by Giovanni Boltraffio, from the Milanese Museo Poldi Pezzoli.
The Architect Corrado Anselmi designed a fascinating display, convinced as a path that develops through three stops that are useful for the enjoyment of the works.
The author Francesco Murano, explains with many details the lighting design project
Spaces of innovation and venture formation: the case of biotech in the United Kingdom
Patents serve as valuable indicators of innovation and provide insights into
the spaces of innovation and venture formation within geographic regions. In
this study, we utilise patent data to examine the dynamics of innovation and
venture formation in the biotech sector across the United Kingdom (UK). By
analysing patents, we identify key regions that drive biotech innovation in the
UK. Our findings highlight the crucial role of biotech incubators in
facilitating knowledge exchange between scientific research and industry.
However, we observe that the incubators themselves do not significantly
contribute to the diversity of innovations which might be due to the underlying
effect of geographic proximity on the influences and impact of the patents.
These insights contribute to our understanding of the historical development
and future prospects of the biotech sector in the UK, emphasising the
importance of promoting innovation diversity and fostering inclusive enterprise
for achieving equitable economic growth
A Framework for the Development of Sustainable Smart Services for the Countryside
The recent spread of smart city technologies has enabled the development of smart services and applications for citizens living in urban areas. However, deploying similar services sustainably in decentralized zones is challenging, primarily due to the lack of a stable communication infrastructure. Toward this goal, the use of secure and low-cost opportunistic networking technologies may play a key role in supporting the development of services based on cooperative (incentivized) communication models.
We propose SUSY (SUstainable smart Services for the countrYside), a general architecture for the development of sustainable smart services. SUSY defines a set of high-level functionalities as building blocks for creating smart services in rural environments.
Environmental sustainability is promoted through energy-efficient communication, decentralized processing, and incentive-driven ecological monitoring. We will refer to this vision of developing smart services in decentralized rural areas using the term ``smart shires''
