Du « fansubbing » à « l’ubérisation » du sous-titrage : impact du numérique sur le marché français de la traduction audiovisuelle
No full textSince 2010s, the development of practises in the field of the translation led to a serious degradation of the job of professional translators of subtitling. Indeed, the development of the "fansubbing" (a grouping of fan who subtitling of episodes of television series in a voluntary way and illegally, to make them directly available, via internet, the next day after their broadcasting), strongly modified the expectations of the spectators. To answer the new requirements of the spectators, several French television channels offer from now on series in "US+24" (the next day after their broadcasting in the United States) forcing the professional translators to work in new conditions. Moreover, the methods practised by some big American studios which to make subtitle of their series, by novice students and underpaid, affect largely in the quality of the subtitling and the reception of the series. Finally, since the implementation in 2016 by Arte of the "collaborative subtitling" and the launch by the American platform of VOD Netflix of a site allowing to test at a distance the skills of the translators (professionals or not), the limit between professionals and amateurs seems more and more unclear

No full textCet article propose de réexaminer la notion d’adaptation et de reprise, dans les années trente, à Lyon, non plus seulement en termes de « concurrence » entre le théâtre et le cinéma mais également en termes d’« emprunt », de « complémentarité » et de « promotion mutuelle ». Durant cette période, la presse diffuse largement l’idée que le cinéma, en se tournant davantage vers le répertoire théâtral ainsi que vers les dramaturges et les acteurs de l’art dramatique, avait fait un tort considérable, non seulement à cet art, mais également à sa propre image. Pourtant, les adaptations cinématographiques de pièces de théâtre vont faire une importante publicité au théâtre des Célestins qui inscrit de nouveau certaines de ces pièces, avec régulièrement la présence de la vedette du film, à son programme. Parallèlement, les adaptations cinématographiques de pièces de théâtre vont connaître un immense succès auprès du public lyonnais malgré des critiques peu élogieuses.This article suggests revising the notion of adaptation, in the thirties, in Lyon, by focusing not only on “competition” between the theater and the cinema but also on “exchange”, “complementarity” and “mutual promotion”. During this period, the press spreads widely the idea that the cinema, by turning more to the plays, the playwrights and the actors of the dramatic art, had caused harm to itself and theater. However, the movies adaptations of plays are going to make an important advertising for the théâtre des Célestins which registers again some these old plays with sometimes the actors of this movies. At the same time, the movies adaptations of plays are going to know an immense success with the public of Lyon in spite of bad criticisms
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
