      abstract: The main aim of this thesis is to study the Saudi Arabia designers level of awareness about sustainable interior materials and to what extent are Saudi Arabia designers specifying sustainable interior materials in their interior designs? The problem statement relies on understanding how does this may impact the Saudi Arabia environment. In order to comply with these objectives, a telephone interviews were built, to test the designer’s knowledge about sustainable interior materials. The results showed that the Saudi Arabia interior designers are not fully aware of sustainable interior materials and there is a lack of interest in applying sustainable interior materials in their projects.Dissertation/ThesisMasters Thesis Design 201

      Awareness Of Heart Attack Symptoms and Action Toward It Among General Population In Saudi Arabia: A Cross Sectional Study

      ABSTRACT To assess the level of awareness of heart attack (HA) symptoms and action toward it among the general population in Saudi Arabia. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in Saudi Arabia from September to December 2021. The total number of participants is 10044, individuals who met our criteria (N = 9,536) was selected as study participants, who were residents in Saudi Arabia, aged 18 years and older. An online questionnaire included questions about demographic characteristics, knowledge and awareness of heart attack symptoms and action toward it was distributed through social media. Then, data were entered into the excel sheet, then into the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences for analysis. Knowledge of the participants about HA warning symptoms; only (3.2%) knew the seven symptoms of HA while (24.9%) of respondents only knew one symptom. Regarding the knowledge of the first action towards heart attack; (44.3%) stated that the first action is to call an ambulance. The correct ambulance service number was identified by (53.04%) of respondents. The findings revealed good awareness of the typical HA symptoms only. Generally, participants had poor awareness of recognizing all alarming HA symptoms and appropriate action toward it. Further educational efforts to the community are required to raise awareness, avoid pre-hospital delay, and reducing the mortality rate.       Tranexamic acid as a therapeutic option for melasma management: meta-analysis and systematic review of randomized controlled trials

      Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of tranexamic acid (TXA) in treating melasma through a meta-analysis and systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The study focused on identifying associated adverse effects and comparing TXA’s effectiveness with other melasma treatments.Materials and methods: Following PROSPERO and PRISMA guidelines, an extensive electronic search was conducted across four databases for RCTs on TXA use in melasma. Inclusion criteria encompassed full-text English articles with specific outcome measures, while studies with high bias risk or non-English publications were excluded. Data were extracted from 22 relevant studies and analyzed using the RevMan software, with heterogeneity identified using I² statistics and forest plots.Results: A total of 22 studies with 1280 patients were included. TXA was administered orally, topically, or via injection, with treatment durations ranging from 8 weeks to nearly 2 years. TXA significantly reduced melasma severity, evidenced by reductions in MASI, mMASI, MI, and hemi-MASI scores. Oral TXA showed the most substantial decrease in MASI scores, followed by injections and topical applications. However, studies exhibited high heterogeneity, particularly in combined treatments. Adverse effects included gastrointestinal discomfort, skin irritation, and menstrual irregularities.Conclusions: TXA is effective in treating melasma, either alone or combined with other treatments. Despite significant reductions in melasma severity, further research is necessary to standardize TXA administration methods and address long-term effects. The high heterogeneity observed suggests a need for more consistent treatment protocols

      Nursing profession in the light of Social Perception in the Middle East

      Nursing is a noble profession and worldwide healthcare systems are giving it as important as the backbone of the healthcare systems. While social perception refers to the own identity of professional transmission. In the special context of the nursing profession, the historical perspective signified social stigmatization instead of giving it noble status. Thus, this bibliography-based literature review was conducted to highlight the social perception of the ways of expression through social stigmatization. This bibliographic review was conducted by focusing literature on different databases such as WHO, PubMed, Google Scholar, and CINAHL Plus by using Bool terms and keywords. A set of 38 articles was reflected and viewed. After using inclusion criteria, articles with the last 5 years were included only with the interest and aim of the study. Findings of results revealed that social perception regarding the nursing profession holds social stereotypes and stigmatization such as an attractive model, small autonomy, weakness, faintness, unfair compensation, and other stereotypes in were found in the Middle East, especially in Saudi Arabia. It was concluded that, despite myths, stereotypes, and irrational beliefs are rooted in the general community of the Region, the profession of nursing is the backbone and only field of strong characterization with a noble identity that must be transmitted to the communities and beliefs systems of the general population in the region

      Tranexamic acid as a therapeutic option for melasma management: meta-analysis and systematic review of randomized controlled trials

      Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of tranexamic acid (TXA) in treating melasma through a meta-analysis and systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The study focused on identifying associated adverse effects and comparing TXA's effectiveness with other melasma treatments. Materials and methods: Following PROSPERO and PRISMA guidelines, an extensive electronic search was conducted across four databases for RCTs on TXA use in melasma. Inclusion criteria encompassed full-text English articles with specific outcome measures, while studies with high bias risk or non-English publications were excluded. Data were extracted from 22 relevant studies and analyzed using the RevMan software, with heterogeneity identified using I² statistics and forest plots. Results: A total of 22 studies with 1280 patients were included. TXA was administered orally, topically, or via injection, with treatment durations ranging from 8 weeks to nearly 2 years. TXA significantly reduced melasma severity, evidenced by reductions in MASI, mMASI, MI, and hemi-MASI scores. Oral TXA showed the most substantial decrease in MASI scores, followed by injections and topical applications. However, studies exhibited high heterogeneity, particularly in combined treatments. Adverse effects included gastrointestinal discomfort, skin irritation, and menstrual irregularities. Conclusions: TXA is effective in treating melasma, either alone or combined with other treatments. Despite significant reductions in melasma severity, further research is necessary to standardize TXA administration methods and address long-term effects. The high heterogeneity observed suggests a need for more consistent treatment protocols. </p

      30-day mortality rate following hip fractures in elderly patients admitted to a tertiary care center

      BackgroundThe incidence of hip fractures in elderly people is steadily rising. Hip fractures sometimes cause mortality especially within 30-days of the injury/incidence. Mortality varies according to the regions or institutes and its determination is clinically or socially important.AimsWe attempted this cross-sectional study to determine the 30-day mortality rate and its associated factors in elderly patients (>65) admitted to a tertiary center of Saudi Arabia for hip fractures.Methods A non-probability consecutive sampling technique was used and determined the 30-day mortality rate and its associated factors on 130 patients.Results A 30-days mortality rate of 15.4 per cent (n=20). Patients (n=130) backgrounds were as follows. Male: female; 57.7 per cent (n=75) and 42.3 per cent (n=55) respectively, with age of 79.6 (SD: 8.5; range 65–88). Comorbidities were present: diabetes mellitus70 per cent (n=91), hypertension 81.5 per cent (n=106), and dyslipidaemia (n=43).ConclusionMortality was 15.4 per cent. Male gender, dementia, and place of fall influenced the 30-days mortality rate. Fracture-type, medical comorbidities, and the causes of fall did not affect the mortality
