Iranian cinema in long shot
No full textThis thesis aims to facilitate a broader understanding of post-revolutionary Iranian
filmmaking, by way of an analysis of the New Iranian Cinema and Iranian cinema in exile and
diaspora, and the various relationships between these two cinemas. Thus far no significant
attempt has been made to consider these two cinemas in relation to each other. This thesis
therefore represents a significant contribution to this line of research. Along the way it addresses
several key concepts of long-standing importance in film studies, such as notions of art cinema,
authorship and national cinema, in particular how such concepts have been used as a means of
studying the New Iranian Cinema. Exilic and diasporic Iranian filmmaking represents a challenge
to traditional understandings of these concepts. The first chapter therefore examines how the
New Iranian Cinema has been received and constructed as an archetypal 'art cinema' in Europe
and North America, in addition to how this cinema invites, at the same time as it resists, such
interpretations. Thereafter follows a consideration of Iranian emigre filmmaking across Europe
and North America, and how it has changed over the past thirty years, gradually shifting from an
exclusively exilic to a pan-diasporic outlook. Chapters three and four are individual case studies
of Iranian emigre filmmakers Amir Naderi and Sohrab Shahid Saless respectively. As two of
Iran's most important and influential pre-revolutionary filmmakers, the works of Naderi and Saless
represent not only interesting divergences from the evolutionary understanding of Iranian emigre
cinema outlined in the second chapter, but also form two of the most compelling links between
the New Iranian Cinema, and it exilic and diasporic counterpart. This thesis concludes by arguing
for a more flexible and open-ended conception of national cinema more generally, as well as
more comprehensive, nuanced and deterritorialised understanding of post-revolutionary Iranian
filmmaking

Evaluation of the Pharmaceutical theses of the government Universities of Tehran and Shahid Beheshti based on ISO 7144 during 2008 to 2012
No full textUniversity theses and dissertations are among those credible sources of information which, with regard to their given status of value, and the use of update resources using the international regulations and standards, can be perfect sources for optimal recovery of information and can increase the scientific credibility. This study reviews the accordance of the Pharmaceutical theses of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and the University of Tehran with the ISO 7144 standards: 2008-2012. 765 pharmaceutical theses of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and the University of Tehran at both general and specialized levels were studied, using an analytical method. Data collection was based on the checklist prepared according to ISO 7144 standards. The comparisons were performed based on the t-test, using SPSS software. The results manifested that the theses done at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences adhered more to the ISO standards compared to the University of Tehran. The study also revealed that the mean score of the adherence to the standards of ISO has been more in specialized theses than the general ones. Moreover, it suggests that, due to their scientific and practical nature, theses are among the most important sources, and therefore, the manner through which the data is inserted, is of utmost importance. The accordance of the studied theses of both general and specialized themes in both universities to ISO 7144 standards is below the %50 of the desired standard and has a long way to go to reach the desired status

Complementary therapy is a safe ,and reliable treatment for primary dysmenorrhea that its effectiveness has been showen in many studies.Considering the prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea and harmful side effects of some synthetic drugs, thepresent study aims to summarize the effect of complementary medicine on primary dysmenorrhea.Materials and Methods: A search for English and Persian literature published from (000 to (01 wasconducted using key words : dysmenorrhea-primary dysmenorrhea ,complementary therpy andnonpharmachologic tetherapy from databases Pubmed, SID, Scirus and Elsevier .A total number of 30publications were included in the review.Results: Complementary medicine includes the use of dietary supplements, vitamins, aroma therapy, herbaltherapy, homeopathy, acupressure, sport and massage and is safe, affordable, and accessible. It has less sideeffects, acceptability and high tolerability and can replace highly morbid chemical agents.Conclusions: based on the findings of the present research and the high prevalence of dysmenorrhea,further studies on the side effects and benefits of complementary medicine and comparing the influence ofcomplementary medicine with chemical drugs is mandatory.Keywords: primary dysmenorrhea, complementary medicine, herbs, pain reduction.*Corresponding Author: Sedigheh, Amir AliAkbari.
