Estados Unidos de América y los tratados internacionales medioambientales : una mirada desde la ideología, los jugadores y sus posiciones
No full textEl presente trabajo busca explicar la incidencia de la Ideología de los Partidos en EEUU frente a otros factores en los procesos de firma y ratificación de IEAs (International Environmental Agreements) producto de las conferencias COP (Conference of the Parties). Esto se realizó por medio de la identificación de los jugadores en el proceso según el modelo de la Política Gubernamental de Graham Allison. Se llevó a cabo una caracterización y comparación de la ideología de los Partidos en EEUU en los últimos años haciendo énfasis en el periodo entre 2008 y 2018, y el análisis de los procesos de firma y ratificación del Protocolo Kioto y de los Acuerdos de París. Se implementó una investigación cualitativa usando el Análisis de Redes y el Trabajo documental, con fuentes primarias y secundarias, para evidenciar cómo las ideologías del Partido Demócrata y las ideologías del Partido Republicano son reflejadas en diversos ámbitos. Se encontró que si bien la ideología de los partidos mayoritarios en Estados Unidos tiene cierto nivel de incidencia en los procesos de firma y ratificación de IEAs producto de las conferencias COP, este no es el único factor. Se encontró que entre los factores de influencia se encuentra el Presidente y su equipo de negociación, la Misión de Estados Unidos antes la ONU, los grupos de lobby y su financiación a personas con cargos públicos y a candidatos a un cargo público, y la manera en que fue manejado el proceso de negociación y firma del tratado producto de una conferencia COP.This work seeks to explain the impact of the Ideology of the Parties in the USA versus other factors in the processes of signature and ratification of IEAs (International Environmental Agreements) as a result of the COP (Conference of the Parties) conferences. This was done by identifying the players in the process according to the model of Graham Allison's Government Policy. It was carried out a characterization and comparison of the ideology of the Parties in the USA in the last years with emphasis on the period between 2008 and 2018, and the analysis of the processes of signature and ratification of the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreements. Qualitative research was implemented using Network Analysis and Documentary Work, with primary and secondary sources, to show how the ideologies of the Democratic Party and the ideologies of the Republican Party are reflected in various spheres. It was found that although the ideology of the majority parties in the United States has a certain level of incidence in the processes of signature and ratification of IEAs resulting from COP conferences, this is not the only factor. It was found that among the influencing factors are the President and his negotiating team, the U.S. Mission to the UN, the lobbying groups and their financing of public office holders and candidates for public office, and the way in which the process of negotiation and signature of the treaty resulting from a COP conference was handled
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
