Born in San Francisco, California, Maria Elena Rodriguez is a Latin Mexican Filipino television writer. Exposed to sewing at a young age by her grandmother, Rodriguez was able to use this skill during the AIDS pandemic where she participated in sewing sections of the AIDS quilt. Synthesis of new chiral 1,3-aminoalcohols derived from levoglucosenone and their application in asymmetric alkylations
We have developed a simple procedure for the preparation of chiral 1,3-aminoalcohols using the biomass derivative levoglucosenone, as the chiral starting material. 1,3-aminoalcohols, bearing primary and tertiary amino groups, were tested as chiral catalysts in the asymmetric addition of diethyl zinc to benzaldehyde.Fil: Zanardi, Maria Marta. Maria Rodriguez Winter Interview
Maria Rodriguez-Winter joins Tom Walton, for a look back at her life. Maria Rodriguez-Winter has been one the voices advocating for the Hispanic community of Toledo and raising cultural awaeness. Originally, from Crystal City, Texas, she and her family followed the crops north, working in the fields. She remembers this journey to Ohio, when she was just a child. Her family settled in near Wauseon, Ohio. She studied nursing and later political science. She founded MECHA, an organization to encourage Hispanic students at the University of Toledo. Health care, city revitalization, and, artistic expressions of the Hispanic community, have been other causes she actively promotes. She takes great pride in her family and their accomplishments and she tells about parents, her 3 children, and her husband. Maria Rodriguez-Winter has been recieved numerous awards for her community service, including the Diamante Award in 1996 and the Allstate Hands in the Community Award in 2003
