Qualitative Behavior of Solutions of a Chemotaxis System with Flux Limitation and Nonlinear Signal Production
No full textIn this paper we consider radially symmetric solutions of the following parabolic-elliptic cross-diffusion system {u(t)=Delta u-del(uf(|del v|(2))del v), 0=Delta v-mu(t)+g(u), mu(t)=1/|Omega|integral(Omega)g(u(& sdot;,t))dx u(x,0)=u(0)(x), in Omega x(0,infinity), with Omega a ball in R-N, N >= 1 under homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions, g(u) a regular function with the prototype g(u)=u(k), u >= 0, k>0. The function f(xi)=k(f) (1+xi)(-alpha), k (f )>0, describes gradient-dependent limitation of cross diffusion fluxes. Under suitable conditions on the data, we prove that the solution is global in time. If N >= 3, under conditions on f, g and initial data, we prove that if the solution u(x,t)blows up in L-infinity-norm at finite time T-max then for some p>1 it blows up also in L-p-norm. Moreover a lower bound of blow-up time is derived

No full textCon riferimento al dibattito aperto in campo architettonico dal nuovo realismo di Maurizio Ferraris, il convegno ha inteso proporre un confronto su alcuni dei presupposti che hanno indotto a pensare a "un punto di svolta". Oggi le necessità reali - scrive Ferraris - "non sopportano di essere ridotte a interpretazioni", a quelle traduzioni-tradimenti di cui il postmodernismo (anche architettonico) sarebbe manifestazione eloquente. Ma il postmodernismo può dirsi anti-realista? E l'architettura, in quanto "oggetto sociale" ed esito di un progetto in vista di un miglioramento delle condizioni esistenti, non è opera di una continua attività ermeneutica, piuttosto che semplice rispecchiamento estetico della realtà? Sono queste alcune delle molteplici questioni poste dal convegno, il cui confronto dell'architettura con la filosofia non attende risposte certe, piuttosto l'apertura di nuovi orizzonti epistemologici e operativi. Il convegno si è svolto a Roma presso l'Aula magna di Fontanella Borghese della Facoltà di Architettura Sapienza Università di Roma, nei giorni 28-29 Ottobre 2014. No full textThe robustness of recommendation models is typically measured by their ability to maintain the original utility when exposed to attacks. In contrast, robustness in fairness pertains to the resilience of fairness levels in the presence of such attacks. Despite its significance, this latter area remains largely underexplored. In this extended abstract, we evaluate the robustness of graph-based recommender systems with respect to fairness from both the consumer and provider perspectives, under attacks involving edge-level perturbations. We analyze the impact of these perturbations on fairness through an experimental protocol involving three datasets and three graph neural networks. Our findings reveal severe fairness issues, particularly on the consumer side, where fairness is compromised to a greater extent than on the provider side. Influence of plant shading and ovoli typology on globe artichoke development, early production and head atrophy: preliminary results
No full textIn the North-West of Sardinia (Italy) a two-year experiment was carried out
during 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 to test plant shading and ovoli typology effect on
the development, early production and head atrophy of globe artichoke (Cynara
cardunculus L. var. scolymus Fiori) cv "Spinoso sardo". Four intensities of plant
shading (0%, 30%, 60% and 90%) were combined as main plots with two ovoli
typologies (ovoidi and sigaroidi) as subplot in a split-plot experiment design with
four replications. From 6 to 28 July 1999 and from 11 July to 7 August 2000 the four
shading intensities were applied in the nursery after the ovoli dormancy breaking,
before transplanting the plant from pots to the open field at the 3rd leaf stage. All the
early produced heads were harvested and measurements were taken on stem weight,
head diameter, length and weight. The intensity of shading influenced head weight,
head atrophy, the percentage of early productive plants, the number of early
harvested heads and the number of leaves per plant. The ovoli typology influenced
the number of early harvested heads, the stem weight, the head weight, the head
atrophy and the number of leaves per plant
