Cilento Labscape.
A Specification Independent Control Strategy for Simultaneous Optimization of Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicles Design and Energy Management
The present work proposes an in-deep analysis of a heuristic control strategy, developed in such a way as to enhance model-based design of fuel cell hybrid electric vehicles (FCHEVs). Particularly, suited normalization and denormalization techniques are proposed, so as to adapt optimized control rules to a number of FCHEV powertrains, ranging from low to high degree of hybridization. A scenario analysis was conducted to verify the effectiveness of proposed powertrain-adaptable control strategies, thus revealing their high potential, both to reduce the off-line development phase, as well as to enable simultaneous preliminary optimization of FCHEV powertrain sizing and real-time energy management
A Narrative Review Exploring the Similarities between Cilento and the Already Defined “Blue Zones” in Terms of Environment, Nutrition, and Lifestyle: Can Cilento Be Considered an Undefined “Blue Zone”?
Longevity is rightly considered one of the greatest achievements of modern society, not only as a function of lifespan, but, more importantly, as a function of healthspan. There are Longevity Blue Zones (LBZs), regions around the world, such as in Okinawa, Japan; the Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica; Loma Linda, California; Icaria, Greece; and Ogliastra, Sardinia, that are characterized by a significant percentage of residents who live exceptionally long lives, often avoiding age-related disability to a significantly higher degree than in the Western way of life. Longevity is not a universal phenomenon, so if there are places in the world with characteristics similar to the LBZs, it is important to identify them in order to better understand what other factors, in addition to the known ones, might contribute to a long and healthy life. This narrative review aims to identify common factors between Cilento and the five LBZs, taking into account environmental, nutritional, and lifestyle factors. Articles from 2004 to the present, limited to studies published in English, German, and Italian, were searched in PubMed/Medline, Scopus, and Google Scholar. The co-authors agreed on 18 final reference texts. In order to evaluate the similarities between Cilento and the LBZs, a descriptive comparative approach was used. Cilento and the LBZs share several common factors, including a hilly altitude ranging from 355 to 600 m; a mild climate throughout the year, with temperatures between 17.4 and 23.5 degrees Celsius; traditional professions, such as agriculture and animal husbandry; and a predominantly Mediterranean or plant-based diet, with typical recipes based on legumes, tubers, vegetables, and extra virgin olive oil. Additionally, maintenance of strong intergenerational family relationships, religious devotion, and social relationships within the community are also prevalent. Given the similarities to Cilento, one might wonder if this is an LBZ waiting to be discovered. The lessons learned from this discovery could be applied to the general population to protect them from non-communicable chronic diseases and help slow the aging process
Diane Cilento, Karnak & the Spirit of Performance
Diane Cilento: Karnak and The Spirit of Performance, makes the bold assertion that Cilento, an Australian actor who came to prominence in London in the nineteen fifties and swinging sixties, occupies a position of major significance in a chain of esoteric thinking stretching from the Armenian mystic George Gurdjieff (1866-1949), through his acolyte, the British academic and author John G. Bennett (1897-1974), who passed on the tradition to Cilento during her time at his International Academy for Continuous Education at the Sherborne school in the UK. This thesis tests that claim, tracing Cilento’s career and early life to identify the biographical and personal context which led Cilento to a series of key encounters and experiences throughout those decades, and her subsequent vocation and commitment to the tradition of Fourth Way teachings and Sufi traditions in the nineteen seventies, most remarkably in her establishing her own school ‘Karnak’ in 1979 and twelve years later building a four hundred seat amphitheatre playhouse Karnak, committed to those practices, in the Daintree rainforest of Far North Queensland.
Dimensions of Cilento’s relationship with the indigenous Kuku Yalanji people of Mossman Gorge are scrutinized in the latter part of the thesis through the production of her laser show at the Karnak Playhouse Creation. The dissertation examines Cilento’s centrality not only within the dissemination of Gurdjieff’s Fourth Way pedagogy but earlier in the formative stages of the major cultural and social movements which took place globally in the post war decades and why she viewed herself as Australia’s ‘Last Pioneer Woman’
In order to revitalize the internal areas, the study intends to make a contribution to the enhancement of the “Cilento Interno” area, in Campania, through the proposal of a strategy of diversification of the tourism offer, sustainable cycling, which is part of the internal of the broader and more widespread strategic action of the greenways. The “Via Silente” is a ring circuit of about 600 kilometers that circumscribes the Cilento National Park, the Vallo di Diano and the Alburni Mountains that crosses most of the internal territories of the Cilento, characterized by naturalistic-environmental, landscape, enogastronomic peculiarities and above all from a mild climate. The objective is to intercept an alternative tourist demand, compared to the traditional one. Among the expected results there is the impact on the conservation and enhancement of places through the recovery of existing minor roads, represented for example by river embankments, sheep tracks, mule tracks, as well as by all the works connected to it such as dry-stone walls, macerines, riparian strips, etc., representative of local building traditions
Geomorphological map of Mt. Pruno southern slope, Roscigno, Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni Geopark
This work refers the application of the method proposed by Dramis et al. (2011) to the gravitational phenomena
mapping that affect the southern slope of Mount Pruno, the highest peak of the Roscigno municipality (Cilento, Vallo di
Diano and Alburni Geopark) as operative contribution to the geomorphological mapping applied to landslide risk
management end their mitigation on hilly area on structurally complex terrains.
The Mount Pruno area is located in the upper section of the Calore Salernitano river basin; this area is characterized
by the outcropping of terrigenous formations defined “Internal Units” (Cammarosano et al, 2004) which promote the
establishment of a complex deepening hydrographic network from at least Early Pleistocene (De Riso & Santo, 1997).
This peculiar geomorphological setting favours big landslides processes on the slopes with intermittent and long-term
evolution.
This representation can be considered a hierarchical and a multiscale mapping: once a focal level (scale) it’s been
established, it’s possible to move to a larger or a smaller scale by polygon decomposing or generalizing operations; in
this nested sequence each hierarchy level summarize the effects of the lower levels (Dramis et al, 2011)
Extreme Longevity: Analysis of the Direct or Indirect Influence of Environmental Factors on Old, Nonagenarians, and Centenarians in Cilento, Italy
Longevity is rightly considered one of the greatest achievements of modern society, an achievement understood as the possibility of increasing the healthy part of life and not only its full duration. This study investigated the phenomenon of regional longevity in Cilento by analyzing the association between longevity indicators and some environmental factors, in order to understand if factors such as altitude, climate, UNESCO protected areas, and hinterland can directly or indirectly influence the measure of healthy living and lead to longevity. Demographic and environmental data were collected through the Archives of the Cilento municipalities, the National Institute of Statistics, the Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, and the Italian National Commission for UNESCO. The Geographically Weighted Regression were used to determine the association between longevity indicators and environmental factors. Correlation analysis between the longevity indicators was investigated in order to have a complete picture of longevity in Cilento. It was discovered that Cilento longevity is mainly found in the central area of the territory and from there, by age groups, it widens towards the south-eastern area. This designated area is part of the hilly area of the Cilento, at an altitude between 400 and 700 m above sea level. The towns of this area are part of the UNESCO heritage and are characterized by a transitional climate between Mediterranean and temperate climate. Moreover, the correlation analysis between the six indicators of longevity has confirmed a linear relationship between the six variables and this indicates that in the years to come there will be the probabilities of a generational turn over between the old, great old, nonagenarians and current centenarians, provided that the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic subsides
Electronic Dictionaries for Information Retrieval, Automatic Textual Analysis and Semantic-Based Data Mining Software
Today Lexicon-Grammar (LG) remains one of the most consistent
Natural Language Processing (NLP) approaches, especially for
Semantic-Based Data Mining (SBDM) and Semantic Web. Its main goal
is to describe all mechanisms of word combinations closely related to the
concrete use of lexical units and to sentence creation. Also, it gives an
exhaustive description of lexical and syntactic structures of several
languages. LG was set up by the French linguist Maurice Gross during
the ‘60s, and subsequently developed for and applied to Italian by
Annibale Elia, Emilio D’Agostino and Maurizio Martinelli. Its
theoretical approach is prevalently based on Zelig Sabbettai Harris’
Operator-Argument Grammar, which assumes that each human language
is a self-organizing system, and that the syntactic and semantic properties
of a given word may be calculated on the basis of the relationships this
word has with all other co-occurring words inside given sentence
contexts. Simple sentences2 are the minimal linguistic meaning structures
upon which LG founds its studies on natural language syntactic features.
In the last twenty years, LG has also reached important results in the
domain of automatic textual analysis and parsing with NLP-oriented
software such as INTEX3, UNITEX4, and more recently NOOJ5.

2 In LG, a simple sentence is formed by a unique predicative element (a verb, but
also a name or an adjective) plus all the necessary arguments it selects to achieve
acceptability and grammaticality. The study of simple sentences is completed analyzing
the rules of co-occurrence and selection restriction, which are distributional and
transformational rules based on predicate syntactic-semantic properties.
