    The Book of Homelessness

    No full text
The world’s first-ever graphic novel created by people affected by homelessness. Comprised of their drawings, texts, visuals and poems, this book gives ownership and control over who tells the stories of their lives and in what context. The Book of Homelessness is a stunning anthology of stories and drawings created by people affected by homelessness about their own lives and experiences. It is the first time that a book like this has been published. The stories contained in the book are personal, emotional, raw and honest. The stories are of pain, of abuse, of dysfunction, of families, of war and of rejection and of misplaced love, of overcoming difficulties and of fighting and succeeding. This is a beautiful book that shows the complexities of homelessness and what causes it and the struggles that people have undertaken to succeed and flourish. All profits from The Book of Homelessness are shared with its authors and Accumulate so it can continue to provide creative workshops for people who are homeless

    MARICE project, 2013

    No full text
The MARICE project was a multi-year collaboration between industry, institutes and academia to study the process of sea spray icing, or 'marine icing'. When wind and high waves whip sea spray onto a ship or rig, the resulting accumulation of ice can pose a risk to the safety of the vessel and its crew and jeopardize their ability to operate effectively. The primary purposes of the project were to study ice accretion in arctic weather conditions by scientific experiments, to model this process using physically realistic simulations, and to obtain observations of sea spray icing on actual vessels. Ultimately, the goals also included improving understanding of marine icing and translating that knowledge into guidelines and recommendations for vessel design and operation, including emergency response

Ivan Merz u misli i djelu Marice Stanković

Papa Ivan Pavao II. proglasio je Dr. Ivana Merza, prvog svjetovnjaka s naših prostora, 22. lipnja 2003. u njegovu rodnom gradu Banja Luki blaženim. U prvom dijelu članka opisuje ukratko životni put Ivana Merza, u drugom Ivan Merz u misli i djelu Marice Stanković, u trećem Marica Stanković o Ivanu Merzu

Marice Rose is a contributing author, Hellenistic and Roman terracotta figurines and pottery . Book Description: The Cesnola Collection in The Metropolitan Museum of Art is the richest and most varied representation, outside Cyprus, of Cypriot antiquities. These works were purchased by the newly established Museum in the mid-1870s from General Luigi Palma di Cesnola, a Civil War cavalry officer who had amassed the objects while serving as the American consul on Cyprus. This catalogue features some 500 pieces from the Cesnola Collection, illustrated in superb new color photography. Dating from about 2500 B.C. to about A.D. 300, these works rank among the finest examples of Cypriot art from the prehistoric, Geometric, Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, and Roman periods. They represent every major medium worked in antiquity—stone, copper-based metal, clay, faience, glass, gold and silver, ivory, and semiprecious stones.https://digitalcommons.fairfield.edu/visualandperformingarts-books/1001/thumbnail.jp
