Haas-Molnar Continued Fractions and Metric Diophantine Approximation.
Haas–Molnar maps are a family of maps of the unit interval introduced by A. Haas and D. Molnar. They include the regular continued fraction map and A. Renyi’s backward continued fraction map as important special cases. As shown by Haas and Molnar, it is possible to extend the theory of metric diophantine approximation, already well developed for the Gauss continued fraction map, to the class of Haas–Molnar maps. In particular, for a real number x, if (p n /q n )n≥1 denotes its sequence of regular continued fraction convergents, set θ n (x) = q 2n|x − p n /q n |, n = 1, 2.... The metric behaviour of the Cesàro averages of the sequence (θ n (x))n≥1 has been studied by a number of authors. Haas and Molnar have extended this study to the analogues of the sequence (θ n (x))n≥1 for the Haas–Molnar family of continued fraction expansions. In this paper we extend the study of n≥1 for certain sequences (k n )n≥1, initiated by the second named author, to Haas–Molnar maps
Development and poverty in Romania
The paper is concerned with poverty in Romania during a period of economic growth (2000-2008). The poverty incidence and profile before financial and economic crisis and the evolution of poverty in the context of economic growth and of a strong increase of households income have been studied, aiming to identify who is the most vulnerable at poverty risk and to find out if the growth was pro-poor or didn’t. A comparison with the others EU Member States offers some reference points for the evaluation of the actual dimensions of poverty.poverty, economic growth, Romania, financial and economic crisis.
Based on the novel A importância dos telhados (2020), by Vanessa Molnar, the article seeks to reflect how the protagonist's memories reveal episodes from personal and, also, collective history. It is noticed that in the dictatorship, although men and women were imprisoned and tortured, in women’s case, the consequences were aggravated by their gender condition. Although fictional, the character's story helps to shed light on national history and its wounds. To support the analysis, the contributions of Eurídice Figueiredo (2017), Maria Rita Kehl (2010), Jeanne Marie Gagnebin (2006), Maurice Halbwachs (1990) and Márcio Seligmann-Silva (2000), among others are used.
INCOME OF HOUSEHOLDS WITH CHILDREN AND CHILD POVERTY
Preventing and alleviating child poverty constitute main concerns for the strategies and policies in the field of social protection and social inclusion in the European Union, and significantly reduce child poverty, as one of the core objectives of these strategies. Setting up policies of child poverty alleviation implies knowing the dimensions and characteristics of this phenomenon, the reasons behind it and conditions that favour it, firstly of those determining the low level of incomes at the disposal of many families with children. The paper comprises an analysis of the level, structure and dynamics of incomes in households with children and of the main parameters of child poverty in Romania. Comparisons with Member States of the European Union are provided also.poverty, child poverty, poverty rate, disposable income
Income distribution in Romania
The paper presents the main results of a study on income distribution during 1995-2008 years, which central concern is the measurement of income inequality and polarization in Romania. A set of indices (S80/S20, Gini, Atkinson and Theil, for inequality; Foster-Wolfson, Milanovic, Wang-Tsui, Esteban-Ray and Esteban-Gradin-Ray, for polarization), have been estimated in order to get a complex and robust evaluation of these two characteristics of the income distribution. Estimates, based on data collected by Household Budget Surveys, are showing an increase in inequality and polarization, mainly since 2000 year.disposable income, overall inequality, between-group inequality, bipolarization, group polarization
Traduzindo as metamorfoses de narradora-mãe-tradutora: Marcela Lanius e a "Máquina de Leite", de Szilvia Molnar
The Nursery is a novel written in English by Szilvia Molnar and translated into Brazilian Portuguese by Marcela Lanius. The text, narrated in the first person by a nameless protagonist, is a careful writing project between the author and her translator character, the latter on the verge of becoming a mother through language. Marked by the often grotesque tone of the bodily metamorphosis of the postpartum period, the novel requires the translator to articulate herself and the target language in order to make the translation project resonate with the brutal and affective experiences of motherhood. In this interview, Marcela Lanius discusses her translation project, which sought to understand, translate, and recreate the strangeness of the source text.Máquina de Leite é um romance escrito, em inglês, por Szilvia Molnar, e traduzido ao português brasileiro por Marcela Lanius.

How to approach a neurogenetics diagnosis in different European countries: The European Academy of Neurology Neurogenetics Panel survey
Background and purpose: Seven thousand rare diseases have been identified; most of them are of genetic origin. The diagnosis of a neurogenetic disease is difficult, and management and training programs are not well defined through Europe. To capture and assess care needs, the Neurogenetics Panel of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) has performed an explorative survey. Methods: The survey covering multiple topics of neurogenetics was sent to all neurologists and neuropediatricians affiliated with the EAN practicing in Europe. Results: We collected answers from 239 members based in 40 European member states. Even though most of the responders were aware of neurogenetic diseases, when we came to amenability of carrying out a complete genetic diagnosis, almost one-third of the responders declared they were not happy with the current way of ordering genetic analyses in their countries. Furthermore, although single-gene analysis is diffusely present in Europe, whole exome and genome sequencing are not easily accessible, with considerable variabilities among countries. Almost 10% of the responders did not know if presymptomatic and prenatal diagnosis was available in their countries, and 47.3% were not aware of which newborn screening programs were available. Finally, 96.3% of responders declared that there is a need for education and training in neurogenetics. Conclusions: We believe that this survey may be of importance for all European stakeholders in neurogenetics in identifying key priorities, targeting areas to encourage education/travel fellowships, and educational seminars in the future, because this area will only accelerate, and diagnostic requirements will expand
