No full textFood insecurity has been a growing problem on university campuses everywhere in the U.S. Food for a nutritional diet can be a lot harder to come by whether it be because of the cost or basic accessibility. When students at universities don't have reliable access to nutritional and affordable foods, this is called food insecurity. Specifically at UWF, 30% of students perceive themselves as food insecure and the University of West Florida has created some initiatives in order to address this issue. The Argo Pantry is a student-run food pantry that is used to promote food security through donations of canned and preserved goods. The Community Garden at UWF was created under similar pretenses using the integration of food-producing plants into the surrounding landscapes to improve access to food. The Argo Pantry and the community garden are programs already in place to assist students on the Volunteers at the community garden UWF campus but are not Harvesting lettuce yet at the production level needed to effectively combat the food insecurity problem without additional assistance. Argos' Edible Campus serves as this additional assistance. Edible landscapes create a destigmatized way to provide for students and the community in addition to increasing knowledge on food insecurity and how to confront this issue. Argos' Edible Campus was created to further spread the integration of edible UWF student picking out food from landscapes around campus the Argo Pantry so that it may eventually support food security on the university's campus

ARGoS: a modular, multi-engine simulator for heterogeneous swarm robotics
No full textWe present ARGoS, a novel open source multi-robot simulator. The main design focus of ARGoS is the real-time simulation of large heterogeneous swarms of robots. Existing robot simulators obtain scalability by imposing limitations on their extensibility and on the accuracy of the robot models. By contrast, in ARGoS we pursue a deeply modular approach that allows the user both to easily add custom features and to allocate computational resources where needed by the experiment. A unique feature of ARGoS is the possibility to use multiple physics engines of different types and to assign them to different parts of the environment. Robots can migrate from one engine to another transparently. This feature enables entirely novel classes of optimizations to improve scalability and paves the way for a new approach to parallelism in robotics simulation. Results show that ARGoS can simulate about 10,000 simple wheeled robots 40% faster than real-time

No full textThis dissertation was embarked on by the researcher as a means of identifying motivational structures in Argos stores in the ROI. The author is particularly interested in motivation in the workforce as it is a topical area in the retail market segmentation, the author is also an employee of Argos thus realised a need for an introduction of motivation to satisfy the workforce to aid a higher standard of work within the organisation. The author commenced his research by reviewing the relevant literature that was available via books, articles, journals and online resources. This literature was used to formulate a comprehensive literature review. The author used the appropriate research methods in attaining information to answer his research aims and objectives. This was completed through interviews and questionnaires as a means of gathered data to identify the importance of motivation in satisfying employees within Argos. These where then analyses and discussed in chapters four and five. The researcher hopes that his recommendation can aid Argos within the area of employee motivation and satisfaction
