What is this Philosophia Anyway?
This chapter explores contemporary understandings of philosophy in the Hellenistic and Roman periods, as both a repository of final truth and a practical, life-changing discipline, demanding life-long commitment to a project of self-formation. Drawing attention to the curious position of philosophy as both an insider and a self-conscious outsider to conventional educated culture (paideia), it suggests that greater unease and greater potential for anxiety attended philosophia and philosophoi in the world of the novel than is often acknowledged. ERP services effort estimation strategies based on early requirements
ERP clients and vendors necessarily estimate their project interventions at a very early stage, before the full requirements to an ERP solution are known and often before a contract is finalized between a vendor/ consulting company and a client. ERP project estimation at the stage of early requirements in a contractual setting has been challenging as it requires the inclusion and the availability of multiple experts, each being a specialist in a particular domain, e.g. solution architect, technical architect, consultant project manager. Today’s highly volatile and customized ERP landscape demands a new approach to estimate effort by leveraging ERP professionals’ tacit knowledge and expert judgments, as well as information from historical project databases (if available). This paper presents three ERP Service estimation strategies that leverage the strengths of both Functional Size Measurement (FSM)and expert-judgment-based estimation techniques. These strategies use a more structured approach to reduce the effects of expert bias and avoid common pitfalls associated with FSM and expert judgment-based estimation

European Union efforts to fight judicial corruption: the Romanian case
This Master’s thesis addresses the EU efforts to fight judicial corruption in Romania. I argue that EU membership conditionality was relatively effective to lower the level of judicial corruption before Romania entered the EU in 2007. In addition, the EU socialization
and the domestic factors – legacy of communism, objective-material factors, and public opinion and levels of public trust – are quite influential regarding the implementation of EU initiatives and show the complexity of the Romanian case. Rather than using
merely the top-down logic of corruption indices or governance indicators, I also apply a bottom-up perspective and therefore particularly draw attention on disregarded measurement. This approach bears the benefit of capturing a range of informal practices that
are misinterpreted by the recent conceptualization of corruption. The before-after case study design and the process-tracing method allowed the analysis of pre-accession and post-accession conditionality in the context of judicial corruption. By assessing the EU
progress reports, the NIT scores and reports, the CPI and the GRECO reports, I found several remarkable developments regarding the fight against judicial corruption. Two of the key elements of EU conditionality – conditions and monitoring – have evolved significantly.
Thus, the introduction of post-accession benchmarks and the strengthening of the monitoring process represent important steps in the evolution of EU efforts to fight judicial corruption in Romania. However, the analysis shows that it is difficult to compensate
the pre-accession conditionality through post-accession monitoring mechanisms.
Although the analysis confirms that EU efforts had a significant impact to fight judicial corruption in Romania before accession, there is still room for improvements for the post-accession phase. Regarding the incentive structure, the analysis of the key documents finds evidence that this element of EU conditionality may be the main weakness. After Romania entered the EU, the EU lost its attractive accession advancement rewards
and was merely able to rely on explicit threats to induce compliance. However, the limited penalizing power of the remedial and preventive sanctions set up in the
framework of the CVM causes a fairly weak incentive structure which negatively influenced the effectiveness of post-accession conditionality.M.A.Includes bibliographical referencesIncludes vitaby Marius Benjamin Trap

Batlle of Breitenfeld : An Analysis Using The Basic Skills, Ground Tactical Principles and the Leadership Method Decentralized Command
The Battle of Breitenfeld took place in 1631, during the 30-year war. It was the biggest battle the Swedish army has participated in. The essay analyses the battle from a Swedish-Saxon perspective, using the basic skills, ground tactical principles and management philosophy of decentralized command. The essay is based on a case study stemming from a qualitative text analysis, and is as such divided into three parts. The first part of the essay describes my theory, and explains what the different terms stand for. The second part narrates the battle and the participating armies. Finally, in the third part, I analyze the Battle of Breitenfeld with the theories. The main question the essay aims to answer is: How can the Battle of Breitenfeld be explained with the help of the basic skills, ground tactical principles and decentralized command? To answer that question two research questions were used:Which of the basic skills and ground tactical principles were crucial for the Swedish-Saxon side to achieve victory? Can traces of decentralized command in the Swedish army be found? The essay concludes that Gustavus Adolphus built the Swedish armed forces with a sharp increase in the number of self-thinking officers and non commissioned officers which indicates that decentralized command, to some extent, was used. The also derives at the conclusion that effective use of a combination between firepower, maneuver and concentration of mass were crucial to the Swedish-Saxon victory.
