Proof-of-concept Raman spectroscopy study aimed to differentiate thyroid follicular patterned lesions
AbstractInter-observer variability and cancer over-diagnosis are emerging clinical problems, especially for follicular patterned thyroid lesions. This challenge strongly calls for a new clinical tool to reliably identify neoplastic lesions and to improve the efficiency of differentiation between benign and malignant neoplasms, especially considering the increased diagnosis of small carcinomas and the growing number of thyroid nodules. In this study, we employed a Raman spectroscopy (RS) microscope to investigate frozen thyroid tissues from fourteen patients with thyroid nodules. To generate tissue classification models, a supervised statistical analysis of the Raman spectra was performed. The results obtained demonstrate an accuracy of 78% for RS based diagnosis to discriminate between normal parenchyma and follicular patterned thyroid nodules, and 89% accuracy – for very challenging follicular lesions (carcinoma versus adenoma). RS translation into intraoperative diagnosis of frozen sections and in preoperative analysis of biopsies can be very helpful to reduce unnecessary surgery in patients with indeterminate cytological reports.</jats:p
A New Swarm-Based Framework for Handwritten Authorship Identification in Forensic Document Analysis
Feature selection has become the focus of research area for a long time due to immense consumption of high-dimensional data. Originally, the purpose of feature selection is to select the minimally sized subset of features class distribution which is as close as possible to original class distribution. However in this chapter, feature selection is used to obtain the unique individual significant features which are proven very important in handwriting analysis
of Writer Identification domain. Writer Identification is one of the areas in pattern recognition that have created a center of attention by many researchers to work in due to the extensive exchange of paper documents. Its principal point is in forensics and biometric application as such the writing style can be used as bio-metric features for authenticating the identity of a writer. Handwriting style
is a personal to individual and it is implicitly represented by unique individual significant features that are hidden in individual’s handwriting. These unique features can be used to identify the handwritten authorship accordingly. The use
of feature selection as one of the important machine learning task is often disregarded in Writer Identification domain, with only a handful of studies implemented
feature selection phase. The key concern in Writer Identification is in acquiring the features reflecting the author of handwriting. Thus, it is an open question whether the extracted features are optimal or near-optimal to identify the author. Therefore, feature extraction and selection of the unique individual significant features are very important in order to identify the writer, moreover
to improve the classification accuracy. It relates to invarianceness of authorship where invarianceness between features for intra-class (same writer) is lower than inter-class (different writer). Many researches have been done to develop algorithms for extracting good features that can reflect the authorship with good performance. This chapter instead focuses on identifying the unique individual
significant features of word shape by using feature selection method prior the identification task. In this chapter, feature selection is explored in order to find
the most unique individual significant features which are the unique features of individual’s writing. This chapter focuses on the integration of Swarm Optimized and Computationally Inexpensive Floating Selection (SOCIFS) feature selection technique into the proposed hybrid of Writer Identification framework 386 S.F. Pratama et al. and feature selection framework, namely Cheap Computational Cost Class-Specific Swarm Sequential Selection (C4S4). Experiments conducted to proof the validity and feasibility of the proposed framework using dataset from IAM Database by comparing the proposed framework to the existing Writer Identification framework and various feature selection techniques and frameworks yield satisfactory results. The results show the proposed framework produces the best result with 99.35% classification accuracy. The promising outcomes are opening the gate to future explorations in Writer Identification domain specifically and other domains generally
MUDA: dynamic geophysical and geochemical MUltiparametric DAtabase
In this paper, the new dynamic geophysical and geochemical MUltiparametric DAtabase (MUDA) is presented. MUDA is a new infrastructure of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), published online in December 2023, with the aim of archiving and disseminating multiparametric data collected by multidisciplinary monitoring networks. MUDA is a MySQL relational database with a web interface developed in PHP, aimed at investigating possible correlations between seismic phenomena and variations in endogenous and environmental parameters in quasi real time. At present, MUDA collects data from different types of sensors such as hydrogeochemical probes for physical–chemical parameters in waters, meteorological stations, detectors of air radon concentration, diffusive flux of carbon dioxide (CO2) and seismometers belonging both to the National Seismic Network of INGV and to temporary networks installed in the framework of multidisciplinary research projects. MUDA publishes data daily, updated to the previous day, and offers the chance to view and download multiparametric time series selected for different time periods. The resultant dataset provides broad perspectives in the framework of future high-frequency and continuous multiparametric monitoring as a starting point to identify possible seismic precursors for short-term earthquake forecasting. MUDA can be accessed at https://doi.org/10.13127/muda (Massa et al., 2023).

The Effect of Principal’s Leadership and Organizational Justice on Elementary School Teacher’s Performance
Because of a phenomenon he noticed in earlier researchers’ work and the empirical finding that principal leadership and organizational justice affect teacher performance, the author was inspired to conduct this study. To better understand how these two factors affect the performance of State Elementary School (SD) teachers in Cluster 1 Koba District, Central Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, the author conducted this study. application of quantitative research techniques. 84 instructors from 8 public elementary schools located in Cluster 1 made up the sample, which was determined using random sampling. Koba District. By distributing questionnaires with a Likert scale of 1 to 4, the data were collected. The SPSS-26 program was used to statistically process the data. The outcomes of the data analysis support the finding that organizational justice and the principal’s leadership have a favorable and significant impact on teacher performance, either separately or collectively. According to the coefficient of determination test, organizational fairness and the principal’s leadership had a combined 52.2% effect on teacher performance
Optimization of Athlete Management (Regional Student Sports Training Education Center) to Become a National Athlete Barn in the Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office of Musi Banyuasin
Basic Training for Civil Servant Candidates is held to form professional Civil Servants with character, namely civil servants whose character is formed by the attitude of state defense behavior, basic civil servant values, and knowledge of the position and role of civil servants in the Republic of Indonesia, as well as mastering their fields of duty so that they are able to carry out their duties and roles professionally as public servants. The actual issue that I raise is the lack of optimal management of athletes (Regional Student Education and Training Centers) To fulfill the task of administering the government, it is necessary to have reporting from related parties so that the data obtained can be accounted for and in accordance with the expected time. It needs to optimize management. So that currently the Youth, Sports and Tourism Office has not been able to maximally fulfill its duties in organizing government in the field of sports, especially the community sports section. For this reason, the Youth, Sports and Tourism Office through the author considers the need to optimize the management of athletes at the Youth, Sports and Tourism Office to fulfill their duties optimally. Therefore, in order to carry out actualization by applying the basic values of civil servants, the author raises an actualization plan entitled optimizing the management of athletes
Multimodal imaging in the differential diagnosis of soft tissue calcinosis
Soft tissue calcinosis is a common radiographic finding, which may be related to different types of pathological processes. Multimodality imaging, combined with analysis of clinical and laboratory data, plays an important role for the differential diagnosis of these conditions. Conventional radiography is considered the first line approach to soft tissue calcinosis; CT and MRI may provide further information to better characterize calcified deposits. Imaging may help to distinguish metabolic calcification, such as primary tumoral calcinosis and the secondary one (associated with acquired disorders of calcium or phosphate regulation), from dystrophic calcification, which is associated to normal blood values of phosphate. The sedimentation sign typical of tumoral calcinosis has been demonstrated by plain film radiography, CT, MRI, and, more recently, by ultrasonography. Other types of soft tissue calcinosis may have a degenerative, metaplastic or neoplastic origin, and their characterization strongly relies on multimodality imaging
Moral Values in Novel 3600 Detik: Literary Pragmatics Study
The problem raised in this study is how the form of delivery of moral values used by the author, the moral values contained in the main character in dealing with problems and the form of moral values contained in the novel 3600 Detik by Charon. The purpose of the study is to describe the form of conveying moral values used by the author, the moral values contained in the main character in dealing with life's problems and the form of moral values contained in the novel 3600 Detik by Charon. The approach used in this research is a theoretical approach (literary pragmatic theory) and methodological approach (qualitative descriptive approach), and is studied using literary pragmatic studies. The method uses content analysis method. The data source is the novel 3600 Seconds by Charon. The data collected is in the form of words or quotes. Data collection techniques in the form of library techniques. Data validity techniques are focused on two ways, namely increasing persistence and using reference materials. The results of the study concluded that the form of moral delivery consists of two components, namely direct delivery which is conveyed through the author's description and through characters and indirect delivery which is conveyed through events and conflicts in the novel 3600 Detik. The moral values contained in the main character in dealing with life's problems in the 3600 Seconds novel consist of five variants, namely disobeying school rules, caring for friends, never giving up, being firm and being honest. The form of moral values contained in the 3600 Seconds novel consists of three aspects, namely the form of moral values in human relations with God, forms of moral values in human relations with humans and forms of moral values in human relations with oneself.
