    The impact of a teacher´s motivational influence on pupils´emotional experience

    [EN] It is necessary to pay increased attention to the managing of emotions, to motivation and empathy, which requires most of all an individual approach to pupils in the process of teaching. This scientific study focuses on motivating and demotivating reactions of teachers and their impact on positive and negative emotional experiences of pupils during lessons. Our goal was to find out, if there are differences between emotional experiences of pupils taught by teachers, whose motivating had a positive character, and pupils of those teachers, whose motivating had a negative character. We have executed a quantitative research supplemented by a qualitative analysis. The research sample consisted of students of higher secondary education and their teachers from secondary vocational schools in the Trenčín district. Ten teachers and 375 students had been included in the research. We have identified the differences with the help of a method of microteaching analysis with the use of analytical scheme AS9 (author is Miron Zelina) and a modified version of the Questionnaire of Emotional Experience. The questionnaire contains entries focusing on positive and negative experiences.     Study of the acoustic attenuation in plaster composites in dependency on added fiber reinforcement

    The current trend, with regards to the cost and energy savings, is to combine properties of basic materials and try to obtain so called synergic effect with that we could get significant amplification of their individual properties. The aim of this article is to assess whether this required improvement of the physical properties occurs also for fiber-reinforced construction materials, whose study has been the author work devoted for a long time. This work is focused on assessment of changes in the acoustic attenuation of the basic plaster composites with addition of some high strength fiber reinforcement. The chosen plasters materials are commonly used in building constructions (gypsum, lime-cement, cement). Into those materials that in our case has become the matrix, some basalt and glass fiber dispersion of length 8.5 and 12 mm have been added. An impedance tube was used to the test of materials acoustic absorption. The results show the very good acoustic absorption for all of the tested samples regardless on the ratio of used reinforcement

    The coordinate system of the eye in cataract surgery: Performance comparison of the circle Hough transform and Daugman's algorithm

    The aim of the work is to determine the coordinate system of an eye and insert a polar-axis system into images captured by a slip lamp. The image of the eye with the polar axis helps a surgeon accurately implant toric intraocular lens in the required position/rotation during the cataract surgery. In this paper, two common algorithms for pupil detection are compared: the circle Hough transform and Daugman's algorithm.     Untargeted metabolomic analysis of urine samples in the diagnosis of some inherited metabolic disorders

    Background: Metabolomics is becoming an important tool in clinical research and the diagnosis of human diseases. It has been used in the diagnosis of inherited metabolic disorders with pronounced biochemical abnormalities. The aim of this study was to determine if it could be applied in the diagnosis of inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) with less clear biochemical profiles from urine samples using an untargeted metabolomic approach. Methods: A total of 14 control urine samples and 21 samples from infants with cystinuria, maple syrup urine disease, adenylosuccinate lyase deficiency and galactosemia were tested. Samples were analyzed by liquid chromatography on aminopropyl column in aqueous normal phase separation system using gradient elution of acetonitrile/ammonium acetate. Detection was performed by time-of-flight mass spectrometer fitted with electrospray ionisation in positive mode. The data were statistically processed using principal component analysis (PCA), principal component discriminant function analysis (PCA-DFA) and partial least squares (PLS) regression. Results: All patient samples were first distinguished from controls using unsupervised PCA. Discrimination of the patient samples was then unambiguously verified using supervised PCA-DFA.     Molecular and Cytological Characterization of the Global Musa Germplasm Collection Provides Insights into the Treasure of Banana Diversity

    © 2016, The Author(s). Bananas (Musa spp.) are one of the main fruit crops grown worldwide. With the annual production reaching 144 million tons, their production represents an important contribution to the economies of many countries in Asia, Africa, Latin-America and Pacific Islands. Most importantly, bananas are a staple food for millions of people living in the tropics. Unfortunately, sustainable banana production is endangered by various diseases and pests, and the breeding for resistant cultivars relies on a far too small base of genetic variation. Greater diversity needs to be incorporated in breeding, especially of wild species. Such work requires a large and thoroughly characterized germplasm collection, which also is a safe depository of genetic diversity. The largest ex situ Musa germplasm collection is kept at the International Transit Centre (ITC) in Leuven (Belgium) and currently comprises over 1500 accessions. This report summarizes the results of systematic cytological and molecular characterization of the Musa ITC collection. By December 2015, 630 accessions have been genotyped. The SSR markers confirmed the previous morphological based classification for 84% of ITC accessions analyzed. The remaining 16% of the genotyped entries may need field verification by taxonomist to decide if the unexpected classification by SSR genotyping was correct. The ploidy level estimation complements the molecular data.     International Nosocomial Infection Control Consortiu (INICC) report, data summary of 43 countries for 2007-2012. Device-associated module

    We report the results of an International Nosocomial Infection Control Consortium (INICC) surveillance study from January 2007-December 2012 in 503 intensive care units (ICUs) in Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. During the 6-year study using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) U.S. National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) definitions for device-associated health care-associated infection (DA-HAI), we collected prospective data from 605,310 patients hospitalized in the INICC's ICUs for an aggregate of 3,338,396 days. Although device utilization in the INICC's ICUs was similar to that reported from ICUs in the U.S. in the CDC's NHSN, rates of device-associated nosocomial infection were higher in the ICUs of the INICC hospitals: the pooled rate of central line-associated bloodstream infection in the INICC's ICUs, 4.9 per 1,000 central line days, is nearly 5-fold higher than the 0.9 per 1,000 central line days reported from comparable U. S. ICUs. The overall rate of ventilator-associated pneumonia was also higher (16.8 vs 1.1 per 1,000 ventilator days) as was the rate of catheter-associated urinary tract infection (5.5 vs 1.3 per 1,000 catheter days). Frequencies of resistance of Pseudomonas isolates to amikacin (42.8% vs 10%) and imipenem (42.4% vs 26.1%) and Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates to ceftazidime (71.2% vs 28.8%) and imipenem (19.6% vs 12.8%) were also higher in the INICC's ICUs compared with the ICUs of the CDC's NHSN.
